What is a Mutato?

In a rapidly changing world of rapidly accumulating toxic waste, Mutatoes take to the sky.
These creatures, affectionately dubbed Mutatoes, are a sad combination of an unknown creature, radioactive material, and a potato.
They live in the sky and consume UV radiation. They are the new era of Super Man.

At birth Mutatoes are about the size of a potato and can grow to around the size of a basketball.
Generally they are busy creatures who would prefer flying to being carried.
The Mutato is filled with the same kind of gases that its tail is made of.
These gases are currently unidentified, but are lighter than air- enabling them to fly.
They can stay in the air for a maximum of 20 hours straight before they need to land and "rest".
Though, when they can't be in the air, Mutatoes pace... a lot.

Reason for choosing this name: The way the coat of this dear mutato is designed is absolutely stunning. Butterflies are my second favorite insect, and they are absolutely enchanting. And that is where it started; butterflies are enchantments themselves, ones that launch themselves into the air on wings of striking beauty. They spread their beauty through the flowers that bloom brightly under their care.

What is my favorite butterfly/moth? Well, I must say the Atlas moth. I love their brilliant patterns, as if someone had taken the most delicate care to paint their wings with these designs <3

Reason for Choosing the Name
It reminds me of a dream, a good dream, and as a butterfly rises and falls it's like the good and bad parts of a dream. Like that of a story with a climax. I also thought of falling petals when I chose the name, I imagined petals falling and forming the wings of a butterfly that take them gracefully through the air

My Favorite Butterfly/Moth
My all time favorite butterfly is the Ulysses Butterfly, I LOVE their bright colors and their petite size, they remind me of the sparkling ocean or rain on glass, their just so stunning! My favorite moth is the more recently discovered Poodle moth, he's just so adorable and fluffy!

Mariposa

++Reason for choosing the name

Mariposa is Spanish for butterfly. Clearly, this was a butterfly mutato. It honestly was the first thing I thought of for a name, and I couldn't think of anything else.

+What's your favorite butterfly or moth?

My favorite butterfly is the monarch butterfly. I raised monarchs twice; once by myself, where they mostly were hidden in the basement because they need a dark place to live, and once at school, where they hung partially by the ceiling and everyone wanted to see them. I have a lot of other favorites, but since I've raised them before, they're probably my most favorite butterfly at the time.

My favorite moth, on the other hand, is the Luna moth. Sure, they're just green moths, but they're very pretty. I've seen one in person, but it was injured on one wing and it was just very happy on its window, where it decided to stay for a while. I saw the pretty fellow at my aunt's house, and it was outside, on a window pane.

Reason for choosing the name
The term 'papillon illumineux' is the French term for
'Illuminated butterfly'. The butterfly's silhouette
struck me as an illumination and it was obviously a butterfly.
The Mutato is so beautiful and unique in its own ways, so
it needs an equally beautiful name.
