Dire Raven

Like other species of ravens and crows, this species is very intelligent and clever. They have fashioned a unique armor that is both light and aerodynamic enough to use in flight. Though Dire Ravens are not generally warlike individuals, they will defend their territory ruthlessly against niche invaders. Niche invaders not only encroach upon the territory, but also compete for food and nesting areas and materials.

The armor is light enough to allow the bird to fly, but strong enough to ward most attacks. The helm, sabaton (foot piece), and spaulder (shoulder piece) can all be weaponized. The helm over the beak comes to two points, the spaulder can be honed to a razor's edge and has a sharp point on the far end, and each claw of the sabaton can be given points to protect the natural claws and serve as a stronger, more severe point. The wing covering were modeled after feathers and when properly donned line up perfectly with the individual's own feathers to integrate on the wings.
