It was a welcome surprise. Sure, you knew your parents were wizards, but there had always been that secret fear you weren't magical. But there it was, in your hands, the obvious envelope. It was before dawn, and, since the owl was right there on your bedroom windowsill, you couldn't deny it was a letter for you. Sitting down on the edge of your bed, your hands trembling with excitement, you opened it and started to read.

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

UNIFORM

First-year students will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)
2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear
3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)
4. One winter cloak (black, with silver fastenings)
Please note that all pupil's clothes should carry name tags.

Personality:
Sorrel is Smart, as befits a Ravenclaw. She is quite stubborn and will seriously never give in to anything she doesn't want to - Anything. She has a great memory and she is also rather shy.

He has medium brown hair in a typical, boring hairstyle. He has hazel eyes. His looks are really nothing special or interesting.

Personality:
Outwardly Thomas is quite serious and devoted to his duty. The devoted part is true - the serious, not quite. With other teachers he is quite immature. He is patient with everyone, and also fairly smart.

Description: Surta has long black hair that drapes to his shoulders and over one bright eye in a rather tired character cliche. He is average height and a thin but muscular build, though it never shows under his robes. He has a rather sullen face with an almost permanent frown, and he doesn't talk much.
Wand (description): Cedar and Pheonix core, 11 inches, rigid but showing signs of future flexibility
Personality: Surta is always calm and withdrawn, never confrontational and difficult to make friends. He keeps to himself and studies subjects not needed for his grade, and has shown a substantial and rather worrying interest in the Dark Arts. He is only outspoken in the event of threats to his sister or cousin, in which he is more prone to using physical rather than magical means to defend them, and he is not afraid to beat the daylights out of offenders. He likes Transfiguration, History, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. He is not fond of Charms.
Pet: His parents keep an owl for the post, but he himself has a black widow spider in a tank that may or may not be hiding something.
Other: His mother is a powerful witch but his father a squib.

Wand (description): Pear and unicorn core, 10 1/2 inches, very swishy
Personality: Flit is bubbly, outgoing, and very friendly. She prefers to be a cheerleader rather than a spectator or a competitor, but dabbles in extracurricular activities in attempts to broaden her already extensive circle of friends. She likes Charms and Transfiguration, and hates History.
Pet: Flit has a calico cat named Meow Meow.
Other: She is the younger twin to Surta.
