Death's Shadow

A Quick Rundown

A trading town by the name of Heimsten recently has killed off it's local witch under suspicion that she had killed the local mayor. Whether these claims are true or not is unknown (other than there was a murder) but more importantly, paranormal activity has been reported after her death. The reports vary from the minor, such as a bump in the night, to the extreme, possessions and objects being flung at peasants. Of course, the town has requested aid and considering the circumstances, brave adventurers have already come in to investigate these strange occurrences. Some people were just mixed up in this whole fiasco. Either way, events are recurring more and more and are increasing in severity.

Rules

We should already know.

The Cast so Far
The Witch: Unfulfilled (But not required if you think about it. The events are the focus, not necessarily the ghost. It's still a main part though.)
Intrepid Adventurers: None so far, but the post was just made.

Name: Dirth Dirangor
Race and Gender: Human Male
Age: 42

Appearance: He is stocky but of average height. He has an unshaven beard only extending about an inch. His hair is brown, messy, but short. He wears the sheriff's uniform which is brown with red stripes along with with an overhanging coat which is black. He wears gloves with the fingers cut out, as he claims it helps his swordplay. He also wears a black hat that is usually typical for sailors to wear even though he has never captained a ship, much less board one consistently.

Personality: He is very serious about his work as town sheriff, and he doesn't like people doing his job, as in his experience, they either get in the way, or just gum things up. "Typical rookie." However, he does treat people with respect if they prove themselves worthy or otherwise impress him. He isn't unfriendly to strangers though, don't get me wrong, he just doesn't like interlopers. You keep your nose clean, your just fine.

Skills: Decent swordplay, enough to keep him alive to become the sheriff of the town. Despite being the sheriff, his analyzing skills are average, but most of the stuff he deals with anyways are muggings in the act, which is pretty easy to find out "who done it." He is quite fast, as he needs to chase down criminals. He is also good, but not as great, at wrestling, since sometimes he may find himself disarmed or need to take someone down non-lethally.

Backstory: He started off as a normal guard, and worked his way up to being the captain of the town watch over in another city, before a chase with a shapeshifter by the name of Triest and the eventually burning of a city from an organized attack from a cult of necromancers left him on the road. He eventually came to the town of Heimsten, getting a job as a guard, and again, working his way up the ladder.

Other: If you didn't get it by now, hes the Sheriff of the town of Heimsten.

Name: Tonic
Race and Gender: Clockwork; Genderless
Age: 36

Appearance: A bronze clockwork with four spokes in it's back constantly emanating steam. It's taller, bulkier, and heavier than the normal person, naturally. It's eyes are covered in shadow thanks to it's upper part of it's head acting as a helmet of sorts, but two orange eyes can be seen at all times, they even blink. It's hands are almost like sharp claws, being designed for unarmed combat. It's feet only have two "toes."

Personality: It isn't completely emotionless, in fact far from it, due to it having a soul. It's very reserved when talking with other people, directly to the point, and responding when asked. This is partly because of an enchantment, preventing it from talking about itself or it's past in great detail, only vague mentions. When it does speak, it proves to be intelligent, and despite being designed for combat, it prefers to use diplomacy whenever possible.

Skills: It is ambidextrous, often wielding a steam rifle in it's right and a sword in it's left. It's a better shot than it is with a sword, and even less so unarmed, but it makes up for it's lack in dexterity with sheer stopping power. As it's name would suggest, it's quite handy with alchemy, and sometimes actually keeps potions within itself to spray out of it's four back spokes. (Although for this RP unless otherwise mentioned doing this action earlier, it will start with nothing.) When it comes to endurance, it's slow but unrelenting, most people could outrun it, but few could go the distance, much less over an entire desert. It's soul crystal is capable of repairing damage to itself, but not at any spectacular rate. It's mostly used to keep itself from breaking down, although battle injuries can be healed with time.

Backstory: It has a soul, the reason being is in the fact that it used to be a normal human, apprentice to a wizard (name disclosed as Tonic would never be able to tell himself,) before being stabbed through the heart with a soul blade, and bound to a clockwork by the very same wizard. Forced loyalty practically, although his soul is of 36 years of age, he has only been a clockwork for 3. Tonic was a nickname prior to the event, as a joke for his obsession with achieving the same alchemical greatness as his past and current master. Overtime, his hatred for his master turned into disdain. It was sent here to investigate the paranormal activity, so that it's master disguising as part of a council, would confiscate any items related to the events after everything was cleared up.

Other: Since it has a soul, it can't be possessed by a ghost as if it was an inanimate object.
