Huge thanks to karkat.the.owl. If it weren't for her red-line, this never would have been possible.
Arcticum Corniger Equis-Arctic Horned Horses
Arctic Horned Horses(AHH or ACE) can be found on two continents.
Antarctica, and the northernmost reaches of North America, where the temperatures are very cold for most of the year.
They live mostly on the tundra, and can often times be found grazing with caribou.
It is believed that the breed originated from Antarctica, though little is know of how they made it to North America.
Some characteristics of the species are broad, sturdy backs, feathered fetlocks, antlers similar to those found on caribou, and feathers on the back of the knee up to the elbow.
Their build is similar to that of a draft horse, though their coats are denser to keep them insulated from the frigid temperatures of their climate.
AHHs have been seen in almost every any natural coat coloration, including brindles, roans, and paints.
However, brindles are the least common among them.
An Arctic Horned Horse's height can range anywhere from 16hh, all the way up to 18.5hh
The average life expectancy for AHHs is forty, though they can live to be as old as fifty.
Arctic Horned Horses are very territorial, and can be fierce fighters when provoked. It isn't uncommon to find stallions fighting over territory or mares.
These fights sometimes end with one of the stallions being fatally wounded due to their large, sturdy horns, and sharp canine teeth.
Mares are normally a little less violent than stallions, though they can be equally fierce if their foals are placed in jeopardy.
However, it has been observed that they get along with caribou, in spite of their territorial nature.
There are two main ways of discerning stallions from mares.
Stallions have larger horns and beards, while females have smaller horns and are beard-less.
