shading tutorial for redpandafreak

Postby Viego » Wed Mar 27, 2013 11:08 am

requires a semi basic knowledge of the oekaki, a lineart, colors, and working computer and a mouse/tablet, and the ability to read. (I'm so funny hahaha not really)

to read just unhide each page as you finish the one before.

I'd love it if you linked to me what you've done when trying out this technique.

also, if you have any requests for tutorials or whatever feel free to let me know, even if I'm not the bestestest artist ever

Pictures I've done on the oekaki using this technique. (I'm only showing these as examples FYI)

these were done with a tablet.

but it also can look nice with a mouse.

so, if you hid the layer that has the actual color then you unhide it.
At the top of the layer box there is a selection box that says "normal' on it. Click that and scroll through until you see multiply (which is right after normal) or subtract. I usually use subtract on my pictures because I like how it looks with colors, but I used multiply for this tutorial image.
Underneath the layer mode box there is a bar that says "opacity: 100%" you can lower that until you like how the shading looks on the picture, but if you like how it looks without lowering the opacity that is also fine.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them
In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
