Pre-drawing sketch

Postby BayloneRose » Tue Mar 19, 2013 12:54 pm

I need advice.
BES people, this is for the Lead Mare 2013 halter portion. it is just the sketch though, I plan on making it a line-less and add a handler, background, etc.

any tips on maybe making it better, or any ideas on a better pose/position/view?

I would make the head bigger, and the feet less outwards.
Looks great though!

Hi I am Baby bunnies! but you can call me BB
I love to do art. Before December 2014 all art that I did was with a mouse. I now work with a Bamboo tablet. Also please note that I expect something in return for customs, I put time into every piece.
I own rabbits! I love to show my rabbits and and have gotten many first place ribbons, a lot of Best of Breed, Best Opposite Breed, Best of Variety, & Best Opposite Variety awards. My rabbits have also gotten Reserve in Show and Best 6 class. I, personally, have gotten Reserve Champion and Grand Champion awards. I take part in Rabbit Royalty! If you have any questions about Rabbits then please ask and I shall answer as best that I can.

Perhaps the neck is a little short? It's amazing though :3

Hmm, The neck needs to either be longer, or the head bigger. That's the biggest problem I can see.

She's pudgy all over, but the neck is too cresty for a mare. The relationship between the ears, eye, and cheek are off - the cheek extends too far back towards the neck, and the eye and ears are both too far forward. I agree that the head is too small if you're intending it to be profile perspective. The shoulder is too steep, scalenus muscle on the neck is incorrect - it does not curve the way you've depicted; it runs superficially from the point of shoulder to tie up near the atlas bone. Pectoral muscles are too wide and there is something odd going on with the perspective of the left foreleg. Both knees are too small.

She is pidgeon-toed in all four legs, but some of that gives her a nice character. Neck length is right on.
