A first look at the Aspis Cats
It is in the highest of trees that you spot them. A young group of them, all playing and purring together right above your head. They are very peculiar looking. Their bodies are like that of a cat's but their hindlegs resemble the hooves of a goat,while their bat-like wings and studded tails remind you of a dragon's. One of them, spots you low on the ground. Her golden eyes however hold you in a trance and for a moment your helpless in her hypnotic gaze. Until a girl in a lab coat shows up. "That's enough Vispa!" And just like that your out of your trance as the creature turns the other way with a huff. The girl beside you sighs, but then grins at you. "Well know looks like you've just encountered Vispa." She says and she jots something down on her clipboard looking rather pleased with herself.
And just like that she begins to tell you just what an Aspis Cat is.
What is an Aspis Cat?
Well an Aspis Cat is a rather formidable flying cat creature. Where they come from is still a bit unclear, and how they got here is quite strange. Apparently they arrived via portal from their home planet, but they cannot appear to be able to go back through that portal. Instead they must be "summoned" by the Mother Aspis, who apparently rules over their planet. Without her to summon them they have to make their homes here on Earth, but many are already adapting to this as we speak. The name Aspis is Latin for Adder, as these creatures hold venom in their fangs, tail spikes and claws, as well as the antidote to said poison. If they are angry their canines exude a small dose of their poison, while their claws and tail spikes can grow poisonous to touch. While Aspis Cats are often peaceful creatures, they will attack when necessary but rather than waste venom on people they use it to hunt down prey. Depending on where they are from their poisons vary. Strangely enough though, they aren't poisonous to each other and as you've seen they can put you under hypnosis. Though it isn't easy for an Aspis Cat to do, they will try if they think they can escape from a predator, and their large ears help them hear sounds even underground.
What are they like? A typical Aspis Cat is normally a very calm creature, though skittish when you first meet them. They are 'pack' creatures and love to work with others. They regard cats and other animals with gentleness and will often try to calm others down when they are either too angry or just too excited, and will often think of them as their 'packmates' even though they're from a different species. Though they are very nervous around humans they will warm up to them eventually when given the chance. That being said, be careful when you're around them, because no matter how calm they generally are, they're still dangerous in their own right. But when you bond fully with an Aspis Cat they'll become a guardian like no other.
Sizes-
Hatchlings- size of a mouse.
Young Aspis- Size of a kitten
Teens- Size of a medium sized dog
Young adult- Size of a young leopard
Adult- Size of a lioness.
These sizes can vary though depending on when and where the Aspis was found.
All right so how do you get one of these Aspis Cats then? Well in order to 'get' one you've got to ask the handlers around here who help care for them. If you follow their instructions then they'll be able to see if you're ready to be bonded with them.
What is Bonding like? Bonding for these creatures is a bit of a rocky road. Basically it's like when you move in with someone and learn their habits and try to find ways to get along and compromise. Sometimes things just don't go well and the Aspis Cat ends up back here, but thankfully our handlers and the Aspis Cats themselves are always around just in case.
