Ratlet Number: #2
Why do you want to adopt?: Because he's so cute, and I love the little fading black markings, they kind of remind me of raven wings, soft but scraggly feathers that fan out in a fading manner across their bodies.
Rat Name: Raven
Personality: Raven absolutely loves muffins. He wont even touch his food unless there's crumbled muffin mixed in! He can be a little bit stingy with his food sometimes, but the little guy just loves eating and wont let anyone eat from his food dish. Raven is also very possessive; his "special" water bottle and his "special" food dish. Raven also has the nasty habit of biting other rats when they first meet, after that he's OK, I think he's just territorial.
Really a super sweet baby he loves to cuddle up with other rats, and even people. A few little personality quirks, but once he's worked out what ever beef he has with you; he's a friend for life and really just loves to burrow into his nest and sleep all day.
Quirks: Raven LOVES muffins. You can't have muffins without raven; it's simply impossible. He's also a little hoarder; he'll take pens, pencils, tissues, wrappers and even chew off the corners of blankets to bring back to his nest.
What do you plan on doing with your rat?: Role play probably; maybe ask a friend of mine to make some art.
If you feel you can no longer care for your Rat, will you return it here to find a new home?:Yes I will return it here, if and when I can't take care of Raven any longer. But I don't see that happening.
Story?: I knew Raven would be hard to handle, the lady at the adoption center said that he bit all the others who tried to adopt him before me, but i could handle a little biting. He slammed around in his little cardboard caring case again and I struggled to keep a hold of him. OK, maybe I bit off a little more than I could chew with this one; but I wouldn't give up on the little guy. "Hold still," I pleaded softly.
Once home I took Raven out of his temporary cage and held him securely in my hands, "Welcome home little buddy," I murmured softly. Raven squealed at me and I sighed, setting him inside his new cage. Putting a little food into his new dish I put the lid on tightly and went to clean up the mess from before.
Coming back to check on him I was surprised to find him chewing a hole through his food dish. "Raven!" I said in exasperation, walking over to the cage I nudged him away from the dish and got a good look at the damage. A large hole had been chewed through the side, but the food was untouched, some of it even looked spit out. "What's with you buddy? The lady at the store said you loved this food...". Frowning, I put the lid t other cage back on and walked into the living room. Siting down I took out my phone and the card the lady from the pet store gave me. Calling, she answered with a, "Hello?" "Yes hello, I bought Raven today at the store, but when I got him home, he wouldn't eat his food. I'm worried." "Oh my! Did I forget to tell you dear? Raven will only eat food with Muffins sprinkled on top. I don't get it either," she laughed. "Thank you," I said and hung up. Going into the kitchen I dug out a muffin and headed back to my room. "Lets try this shall we?" I said as I crumbled up a part of the muffin and mixed it in with the food.
Almost immediately Raven dug into his food, aiming mostly for the bits of muffin. "Well that solves that," I said with a smile.
