Rat Name:
Cortez
Personality: (Likes, dislikes, how they react to people, other rats, etc.)
Cortez lives in the world of sensation possibilities. He is keenly in tune with the way things look, taste, sound, feel and smell. He has a strong aesthetic appreciation for art, and wants to be artists in some form, because He is unusually gifted at creating and composing things which will strongly affect the senses. He has a strong set of values, which he strives to consistently meet in his life. He needs to feel as if he's living his life in accordance with what he feels is right, and will rebel against anything which conflicts with that goal. He's likely to choose activities and jobs which allow freedom of working towards the realization of his value-oriented personal goals.
Cortez tends to be quiet and reserved, and difficult to get to know well. He holds back his ideas and opinions except from those who she's closest to. She is likely to be kind, gentle and sensitive in her dealings with others. She is interested in contributing to people's sense of well-being and happiness, and will put a great deal of effort and energy into tasks which she believes in.
Cortez has a strong affinity for beauty. He's an animal lovers, and has a true appreciation for the beauties of nature. He's original and independent, and needs to have personal space. He values people who take the time to understand him, and who support him in pursuing his goals in his own, unique way. People who don't know him well may see his unique way of life as a sign of carefree light-heartedness, but Cortez actually takes life very seriously, constantly gathering specific information and shifting it through his value systems, in search for clarification and underlying meaning.
Cortez is action-oriented individual. He is "doers", and is uncomfortable with theorizing concepts and ideas, unless he sees a practical application. He learns best in a "hands-on" environment, and consequently may become easily bored with the traditional teaching methods, which emphasize abstract thinking. He does not like impersonal analysis, and is uncomfortable with the idea of making decisions based strictly on logic. His strong value systems demands that decisions are evaluated against his subjective beliefs, rather than against some objective rules or laws.
Cortez is extremely perceptive and aware of others. He constantly gathers specific information about people, and seeks to discover what it means. He is usually penetratingly accurate in their perceptions of others.
Cortez is warm and sympathetic. He genuinely cares about people, and is strongly service-oriented in his desire to please. He has an unusually deep well of caring for those who are close to him, and is likely to show his love through actions, rather than words.
Cortez has no desire to lead or control others, just as he has no desire to be led or controlled by others. He needs space and time alone to evaluate the circumstances of his life against his value system, and is likely to respect other people's needs for the same.
Cortez is likely to not give himself enough credit for the things which he does extremely well. His strong value systems can lead him to be intensely perfectionist, and cause him to judge themselves with unnecessary harshness.
Cortez has many special gifts for the world, especially in the areas of creating artistic sensation, and selflessly serving others. Life is not likely to be extremely easy for Cortez, because he takes life so seriously, but he has the tools to make his life and the lives of those close to him a richly rewarding experiences.
Quirks: (Little things like "Enjoys sleeping on her back", "Loves hoarding candy wrappers", etc.)
Cortez has a small addiction, to spaghetti. He absolutely loves it, and could just wrap himself in the noodles, and drown in the happiness of the ragoo sauce.
What do you plan on doing with your rat? (Roleplay, Make art of, Hoard art of, etc.)
I want to make art, lots and order lots. I would love to RP and just have fun, drawing pictures of both him, and Goata.
If you feel you can no longer care for your Rat, will you return it here to find a new home?
Of course I would! I would never letter a character go without love, so no doubt, I would. Though, very unlikely <3
Artwork/Story?
The rats are a wonderful breed, and one character in particular has stood out to me. That is Cortez, with his vibrant colors and markings, and his personality that just jumps out. In this short essay, you will be finding out about his history, from the beginning part of his life, all the way to the end. So, from about ages 1-29. Now that you know what we will be covering, lets get to the information about this wonderful fellow!
Aging wasn’t a friend of Cortez. It was more like an enemy that he couldn’t destroy. Ever since he was little Cortez has been a short one. He stood out in the crowd, but not because of his beauty. But because of his shortness. Many other kids bullied and picked on him, and it only became worse when he injured his tongue and had to pretty much learn how to talk again. Because of having little to no friends of his own kind, he resorted to other kinds. Being bunny’s, squirrels, or anything else that would let him get close. Living in the mountains, he had to go down to the base, to ever be able to actually see his ‘friends’ because it was a bit to cold to go up there. Even though he didn’t have any friends, he was content. He didn’t want to be around others, if that’s the way they would treat rat that where different. He liked nature better. It was accepting, it was different. He love the pristine beauty of it, and the way everything worked together to become whole. His parents thought he was miserable. They believed he went down the mountain, to sulk without prying eyes. His parents then tried their best to help him make friends. They would take him around to the hang outs, where kids his age could usually be found. It didn’t help though. It only made the taunting’s worse. Cortez didn’t know why his parents decided to do such a thing, he knew that they didn’t mean for anything bad to come out of it, so he forgave them. On one particular day, one of the other kids started pushing him, trying to start a fight. Cortez tried to ignore him, hoping that he would just go away. That didn’t happen though. After a few more minutes of that, Cortez turned and walked away, the bully wouldn’t have any of that though. He rammed Cortez in his shoulder with his horns. Yelping in pain, Cortez then fought back. And oh did he fight! Cortez showed exceptional fighting skills, and beat the other Goennec in there battle. Coming back the next day, none of the others said a word to him. They where scared. Cortez was ecstatic about it. Each day he came here, and they always, always, tormented him. Going home satisfied, he started thinking why. Cortez had come to the conclusion that it was because he bit the bully, with his fighting skills. At that moment, Cortez decided he was going to become a warrior. A solider. He was going to defend the land, it was the least he could do. Cortez had a strong drive for his little land, and he wanted to help make it better, one step at a time. After a while of training bye himself, he stumbled upon an elder. He asked her questions, about many things like: The past history of Goennecs, and there land. He found it to be quite interesting. Once a week, Cortez would come back, and talk with the elders, than every other day, until almost became a daily occurrence. He became quite fond of there, company. He loved the knowledge they shared, and the friendship. Many of them told him “He should of been born years and years ago. Then maybe he would of fit in” Cortez had always grinned at that, and even wished that would of happened himself. Soon Cortez had reached adult hood. As that happened he sprouted. Cortez was now one of the most tallest Goennecs. Many others wanted to be his friend, because of his beauty, and just plain old strength. Cortez had kindly told them to not bother, if they didn’t want to be his friend when he was short. Then he sure as heck didn’t want to be theres! Becoming older was a hard thing for Cortez. He didn’t know how to take it in, it was a great moment, but also a sad one. He would now be expected to do many things, important things. He now had to take responsibility for his actions. He could no longer rely on his family for support. In a way, it was great to be independent. It was also a scary thought, he was never this independent, and he wasn’t sure how it would work out. Cortez was never a mystery guy, and it terrified him that he didn’t know what was going to happen. After a while, he became a solider. He has only trained so far, though he hopes soon one day he can become one of the most mightiest. It was very unlikely, but a rat can dream, can’t they?
Now that you know about Cortez, hopefully you know a bit more about him after reading about him since he was little till where he is now. His past was a wild ride that will lead to an even more fun future, and hopefully a great adopter will be able to be with him throughout it.

Children's:
The Tale Of Cortez The Rat
Once upon a time, there was a little rat named Cortez. He lived with his mother in a small little cave in the mountains. “Now my dear,” Said his mother, “You may go up the mountain to where the little stream lay’s or down to where the flowers start to grow, but don’t go past either of those, your father was killed bye a hunter in that field, and I don’t want happening to you. Now run along, and don’t get into any trouble. I’m going out.” Then his mother walked off, without another word. Cortez, who was a good little rat so he went down to the stream to gather some wild berries. He then saw some of the naughty rats that seemed to be heading towards the field! “Wait, where are you guys going?!” Cortez asked. “To the field shorty, you want to come? Or are you to much of a chicken?” As everyone laughed Cortez ate another berry and stood up, “I’m no chicken!” He yelled at them. “First one down is a rotten egg!” He hollered as he ran down the mountain. Getting to the field first he stopped and grinned. As everyone came down he started to get scared, of what might be in the field. Taking a deep breath he walks out onto the grass and looks around. Spotting some radish’s he hops over and eats them. He then saw lettuce, smiling he goes over and gets some of that. Then he started feeling a little sick, and told one of the other kids, “I don’t feel so well, do you know where some parsley is?” The other rat told him where it was, and then Cortez was on his way, further down the field. Stepping out of some brush, he came upon a hunter! The man was on his belly, his gun pointing straight at him. Petter was terribly scared. He ran around the field like a chicken with it’s head cut off, because he forget the way back. Running Cortez ran faster than he had ever ran before. He would of gotten away, if he wouldn’t of got caught in a net, that was built bye the hunter. Cortez gave up, he truly believed he was going to die, and started to cry. His sobs where over heard bye a few friendly blue jays, who flew to him in great excitement. “Can you help me?” He wept. Smiling the birds started to pick away at the net, trying to make a hole for the small rat to get threw. The hunter then showed up, he had his gun ready, and was about to pull the trigger, but Cortez wiggled away just in time, and the gun missed. Cortez rushed out into a small area of trees, he jumped under some bushes to hide. It would of been a great spot, if a small little area of water wasn’t right where he was. The hunter was positive that Cortez had gone in there, and walked into the area also. He started peaking under the bushes, and jabbing the long grass with his gun. When he was exactly one bush away from him, Cortez sneezed. He was sure that the hunter knew where he was now! Cortez was running again. After being chased for a while he came upon a small river and jumped it. The river was much to big and cold for the hunter to make it across, and he was tired of chasing Cortez, so he left to go find another animal. Cortez sat down, he was trembling with fear, and out of breath and damp from sitting in the small puddle of water. After a time he began to wander about. Looking all around, he made it back to the place where he jumped over the river. He knew it was from the stream, up in the mountain. He just didn’t know which way to go. An old bunny was hopping down the edge of it, a few berries in its mouth. Cortez asked her which way it was to the mountain, but it just shook it’s head and pointed at it’s mouth. She could not answer with a mouth full of food. Cortez then started to cry. After the tears had died down he continued to look for someone else who could tell him the way. He soon came upon a bear, that was splashing his hand in the river trying to catch one of the fish. Cortez decided he shouldn’t go over there, fore he had heard about bears from his Cousin, and he said they where mean creatures that would have us for lunch if they where able to. Cortez then decided to go the other way down the river. Then, through the grass he saw the bottom of the mountain. Cheering Cortez ran forward. But then he stopped, as he saw the hunter was there. All of the other rats must of ran off when they caught his sent in the wind. Shaking his head he gathered his courage ran as fast as his legs would allow him to, and trampled up the mountain. He knew the hunter saw him, but didn’t care. Thankfully the man didn’t take pursuit, most likely because he was to fast. Running all the way home, he goes inside and collapses on the cool stone of the floor and feel asleep.
The end!
