Why do you want to adopt?
I have been looking around for what seems like forever trying to find the perfect rat that fits me, and I believe this ratlet to be just the one.
Rat Name:
Samael [Sam or Sammy for short. Only for close friends though]
Personality:
He is typically a very unreactive rat, preferring to be left alone by those he doesn't (or doesn't want to) know. He loathes other rats for being so much more "likable". He sticks to his own agendas. He is cynical, not cruel, but he never "sugar coats" things. He likes the darkness and the shadows, keeping others from judging him by his looks. He does seem to have a certain softness for those who are kind to him, though.
Quirks:
Surprisingly enough, he enjoys writing poetry. Also, he loves to curl up in fur, mostly because he has trouble keeping warm without his own.
What do you plan on doing with your rat?
I will be purchasing, and creating, tons of art for him. If I get enough motivation, I may begin roleplaying with him.
If you feel you can no longer care for your Rat, will you return it here to find a new home?
Of course, it isn't right to leave any animal, different or not, to suffer in loneliness.
Art and/or Story:
Audible gasps were heard. Samael groaned inwardly and brought his teeth together with and audible -click-. The tendrils on his back flared up suddenly, then quickly dropped. You'd think, after years of this reaction, he might have gotten used to it. No. He never did get used to it, mostly due to his faint hopes that just one person would want him. So many other rats had been adopted before him, it just wasn't fair. He slowly trudged his way over to the shadows of the rattery, lay down, and sighed.
"They fear the dark, with their sheltered souls.
Never take heed of how the loneliness grows.
I sit alone, not a comforting thought in my mind.
I wait for the day I won't be left behind."
Just as he finished speaking, the shadow he sat in grew darker, and larger. He noticed as the little warmth that skittered over his skin disappeared. His head tilted upward, curious as to what towered over him. He felt the air brush past as something slowly moved towards him. He smelled... human? A human hand he guessed, slowly moved closer and stopped an inch from his head. Curious, he stretched forward touching the tip of his front teeth to the hand.
It didn't move, that was surprising. He just sat there wondering what on earth he was supposed to do. If he moved, the hand might leave, if he didn't, the person might think he was uninterested. Carefully, he stretched forward again, and ran his head across the fingers, trying to understand it. Just then the fingers slowly moved up and across his skull, over the bandages, onto the back of his neck. They gently scratched underneath where his ears should have been. He liked this. A lot. He leaned into those gentle fingers and sat content, his tail coming around to lick the fingers. He was then picked up and brought towards the humans face. He leaned in and pressed his paws onto it. It felt feminine, so, it had to be a girl. He was very excited, know one ever spared a thought to him, much less a girl.
"Hey there cutie."
Cutie?
"You look like just the rat for me. I know an animal with good character when I see one."
He strained closer, his tendrils growing slightly in anticipation whipping around a bit faster. This could be the one. This could be the owner he always wanted.
"I really wanna take you home sweetie, but I have to fill out some forms with the people here. You never no, someone else might want you just as much as I do."
He could barely hold in his excitement, whether it was this girl or not, he was going to be adopted.
