How I drew grass in my drawing "We Were Rebels".
1. Start with the watercolor tool on size 30, with the 'color' bar turned up as far as it goes. Raise the 'opacity' level as well. This blob of green is your background.
2. Decrease the brush size a bit, and with a darker color, make large strokes in the direction you want the grass to go. Leave space between the strokes so you can still see the background a bit.
3. With a color lighter than the base, lower the brush size again and draw more blades of grass, alternating the direction so every blade is not facing exactly the same way.
4. Lighten the color and decrease the brush size again, and make more brush strokes, or blades of grass. Keep them farther apart than the first few steps.
5. Lighten color, decrease brush size, and repeat.
6. Lighten color, decrease brush size, and repeat. Once you do this, you should be done.
