Name: Joule, a metric unit of work and energy equal to one newton times one meter. I felt like the name seemed normal enough, but also unique with it's own definition. =3
Age: 6 months at the time of Llammel-napping, 2 and a half at the end of the story.

Joule and Ari lived in the harsh, snowy forest at the base of the mountains, fending for themselves, hiding from a human village not far off, somehow surviving without their departed parents.
This isn't a story about 'selfish, greedy humans disturbing nature!' It's a realistic story about human starvation, in which the people had no food, no clothing, and no where else they could turn to for survival. Living in this village was a family, among the poorest, harboring seven young children. Joule and Ari found one of these, and raised it through the winter, not understanding its language, nor knowing it still had a home. The child had been separated from his family while looking for nutrition, wandered into the forest, and would not have otherwise lived to see another day without the twin's intervention.

During their time together, the twins had grown quite curious about the intelligent little munchkin, and watched it hunt and collect food for them with its hands and tools. Joule searched while Ari sniffed, leading him to the best places to find such necessities as water and hunting grounds. The child also built them shelters from wood and leaves and mud, in preparation for the coldest nights, making fires to cook the meat he ate and to warm the trio. They survived very oddly in this fashion.

Finally, come spring, the father had found his little boy and took it away with utmost relief, then returned later to take Ari with him, pitying the creature. Ari put up the best fight a young sight-impaired Llammel could be expected to, but in the end, Joule was somehow taken instead.
Joule worked as a mule, being the family's only prized possession, and helped them harvest enough for the next meal. He had little chance of escaping, but part of him wanted to stay with the family, despite his worries over Ari's well-being. They treated him well, and when the time came, they let him loose. Joule now continues to live near the village, where he has become a sort of icon of encouragement for them. He has not seen his sister since he was taken into captivity, but doesn't regret his actions.

All that boldness is making my eyes bleed, is it okay if I altered the form enough to change that? ^^;;
