What I can't do.

I've been working on this on-and-off for a few days now. My deadline was today; the one-year anniversary of my joining CS, and phew, just managed to squeeze it in! Well, in my time zone, at least. Ah well, close enough. ^^

A while ago; I can't actually remember where, I heard the quote "Don't tell me what I can't do." It struck me as a great inspiration for a piece, and since it was nearing my CS anniversary I thought Avian would be a great candidate for drawing. Nobody can tell her that she can't fly- if she wants to fly, she can fly. Even if it means tying yourself to a massive horde of your butterfly wolves and flying around that way. c: The quote has a bit of personal meaning to me as well- last year, I wasn't exactly an 'artist' yet, although I wished I was. I kept ceaselessly drawing and drawing at school and while people who say that it looked 'good' through their teeth, it was pretty obvious that everyone thought it was crap. Proved 'em wrong, didn't I? One year makes a lot of difference.

Anyways, gosh, the butterfly wolves have complicated designs! I rooted around for some of the simpler ones and even then it was hard. It's not until you try to redraw it when you realize how much effort and skill was put into all of these pets. Artists, you rock for that!

So... as a fun little thing, there are three butterfly wolves in this picture without wings. The two obvious ones are the black one still trying to help even though it's not really working, and the fish one whose string broke off and is desperately clinging to Avian's tail.. can you find the third one? Somehow she's managing to fly despite the fact that it doesn't have wings. x3

Wow. That's amazing...and cute/funny, too! I love the little butterfly wolves that don't have wings and are trying to hang on (still looking for the third one!). Happy anniversary, too!
