The Story of the Dragonfly Rune

After many times asking and hoping to get a spot on an expedition, finally my chance had come. Leaving on a flight bound for Asia early in the morning, I sat beside my sister Dracos, across from Benathorn and her sister Jendalie. We talked the entire flight and then well into the bone-jarring vehicle ride deep into the forests of Southeast Asia. After trekking for days, itsemmed as though everyone except for myself had found a Rune to bring home and put up for adoption. As the others moved away from the area where the Foo Rune had been loyally standing his ground, I fell in line at the back of the line. As only a guest on the expedition, I had felt out of the loop enough already. Not finding a Rune? Only made it worse. We were nearing the end of our expedition when from a nearby pond I could hear he soft whistling of a native tune. Wandering off the path and away from my group, I approached the still sparkling waters. As I hit the bank, dragonflies rose from their hiding places in the tall grasses, fluttering around me in droves as they scattered and settled elsewhere. I couln't help but smile, giving a small laugh as their wings brushed me ever so lightly. Pulling back for a moment, I listened for the music again. It had stopped, but after a few moments the gentle whistle began again, and: I followed it until a little red, gold, and blue, Rune chirped and leapt at me, the song stopping as the little female caused me to fall backwards, sitting patiently and staring at me with trusting silver blue eyes. In that moment I could feel the bond click, and I knew my Ancient Xsurkay could feel it too. From behind me I heard Bena and the others give soft claps and soft laughs. I turned and smiled softly, petting her softly as I stood. The barely visible orbs of light surrounded us both, and I stood to let her rest on my right shoulder. I paused for a moment, then addressed my friends. "I want everyone to meet Serenity." The Dragonfly Rune greeted everyone in turn, then proceeded to serenade us the entire trip home.

I can't help but be selfish, I'm sorry ;-; I've grown attached to her.
