A lot of my buddies who have actually been overseas see today as a very difficult day. I was excited to see some of the Memorial Day Oekaki but really didn't see any. Did I miss them?
I memorized this poem during my basic and it quickly became my favorite. Forgive me my mistakes. I must write it the way I memorized it so it means as much to me.
Uniform of my Country by Captain Karen Doran Kimmel
Without a word, this uniform also whispers of freezing troops, injured bodies, and Americans left forever in foreign fields.
It documents every serviceman's courage, who by accepting this uniform promises the one gift he truly has to give; his life.
I wear my uniform for the heritage of sacrifice it represents and more.
I wear my uniform with pride. For it represents the greatest nation of free people in the world.
My extreme gratitude also goes to every foreign ally soldier who stood next to and died with the US soldiers.
