Just hide or show the different layers until you find the look you want, then erase bits of lineart that's overlapping. Some objects/markings will need moving as they don't connect properly with the longhaired kitty. Then color however you want. Don't forget to add name, gender (circle the one that applies) and your name on the bottom!
You can use this as a reference for your RP character, fursona, whatever. You can add more items or remove limbs if you like. You don't need to ask for permission to modify the lineart, go ahead and do it. I look at all versions even if I don't comment. You can post this to your website, dA or wherever AS LONG AS YOU CREDIT THE LINES TO ME. DO NOT erase my signature. You can move it but do not erase it. When you post it on a forum or whatever, a simple comment of "Lines by GWC" will suffice.

- Mackerel Tabby, Broken Mackerel, Classic Tabby, Tortoiseshell, Calico, Points, Tuxedo and Mitts markings.

You need to click the button that says 'colormein' next to 'postareply'. It is under the other versions other people have allready made, above my first post.

When I try to color over the lines while using non-black/white colors, the line disappears. I'm using pencil. Uh, what's going on? I can't color it if the lines disappear!

Are you colouring on the right layer? There is a layer called 'Colour me here!', it's second from the bottom. Select that layer by clicking on it. It should turn grey when that layer is selected.
If that doesn't fix the problem i'm not sure what will :/
