When passing through CS there are many drawings, threads, clubs ect dedicated to an charity called Invisible Children, IC for short. They claim to be a charity to help stop Joseph Kony, a man who kidnaps children and forces them to kill. Sounds like a good charity, right?
Wrong. IC is a scam. Out of the donations they get only a small amount actually goes to the Uganda. They claim to spend the majority on programs in Africa, but I am yet to see any proof besides them saying that they do which could easily just be damage control due to all the people discovering their cruel trick. And if I'm the only one who has noticed IC is filthy rich, I think we know pretty well where the rest goes.
And how does the money sent to Uganda help stop Kony? It doesn't. Kony or his child army has not been spotted in Uganda in the past 6 years and there are rumors he is dead. Sending money to the Ugandan army will do nothing to stop Kony simply because Kony isn't there.
Then how come the Kony 2012 video showed Uganda being all overrun by Kony? They lied. ICs videos show clips from either ten years ago when Uganda truly was or they hired actors. In Uganda right now they are NOT overrun by Kony at all and that gives the false impression that they are. Which simply is not fair to Uganda, pretending they are in a horrible situation that has been gone for 6 years.
Uganda doesn't agree with what IC is doing, I don't agree with what IC is doing and many others don't too. I completely support stopping Kony but I don't think IC is the right charity to support. I'm not asking you or anybody else to agree with me, I'm asking you to do your own research before supporting a charity.
