Well, I don't know anything about the species so I'll wing it and say their well known domestic pets.

The young girl ran ahead of her mother, who was looking exasperated. "Slow down Nottie! You'll scare the Sither!" she cried, but the girl ignored her. She ran straight up to the cage of sither pups. All but one ran from her, frightened. The one that stayed looked up and let out a yelp before climbing into the girls arms. "Mama this one!"
