Memories wrote:Anyway, 'sides that. Does anyone know who Jennifer is? In the new episode.
I can't remember her from anywhere....

Which Jennifer? Jennifer Lucas from the 'ganger episodes has apparently been in every British show ever, so my family recognised her, and Jenny the Victorian crime-fighting samurai from A Good Man Goes To War has not been in too much. She's meant to be a new character that you don't know, like the other background characters (except that two of them are played by people who have played characters of their species before because Sontarans are clones and reptiles all look the same, and we've seen Dorian the blue guy in glimpses).

fake!edit: That wasn't Jennifer, that was Lorna Bucket (pronounced 'Bouquet'). We don't know her yet either. I don't know if we ever will, there were obviously bits of backstory with the others that had happened already without us seeing (as we have to assume always happens).

30 DAYS OF SCARF'S OPINIONS TIME :D
Day 4 - Favourite Character

What a silly question (they look like they get more different from here, so there'll be two tomorrow).

I don't know, it has to be the Doctor really. Because at all times he's the most wonderful being in the universe. He's got that free-spirit thing that so many people admire, and he's a mystery and he takes you away to fantastic places and really cares about you and showing you how magnificent the universe is. And he cares about making the universe right too, and fixing things that are unfair or cruel. He will bend the rules as far as he can for people or things he cares about. He's not afraid to sacrifice himself in the process, and he never gives up. And he goes on forever.

For me personally he gets all the lines that remind me that humanity isn't all that bad. Doctor Who is really an antidote to my misanthropy, which is wonderful.

If we're not saying the Doctor then I'm going to go with the TARDIS, because she's a mad, clunky old thing, the most consistent part of the show (that and the Doctor's relationship with her <3). You can't have one without the other, the Doctor would be lost without his box. She always takes him where they need to go :B The TARDIS is the most wonderful plot device ever, and the most iconic budget solution to a problem any TV network has ever come up with <3

It seemed at the end that she might be in a later episode.

edit: I think I'm going to start that thing, what page was it on?

Starbase Typhon is a roleplay run by me, off site. It is Star Trek based (but not the new movies, as you will see) and it definetly needs people who are willing to be active, write with great grammar, and of course, are semi-literate or above. Format is play by Nova, which involves multi-person posts that are a different way of doing things that here of CS. But it's lots of fun, and we need long term people who will help us complete our missions. As the commanding officer of Typhon, I invite anyone who would like to give it a try to please apply! There's two on the same page, but this is the first one. The first bunch of questions are more or less the same.

K thanks!

Day 1 - Favorite Incarnation of the Doctor

I would have to say I liked David Tennant best. I liked that he didn't really show anger on many occasions, which was a good thing. And when he is angry you end up with him being silent with an ominous look on his face, which is sort of neat. Silence over violence. (That sounds cool!) I also found it a bit strange that his voice was different in the Doctor Who Confidentials than in the show. That was just kind of interesting too.

Seraphwolf wrote:They split it so we wouldn't have to wait ~ a year between series. For a kid a year is a significant proportion of their life, and the specials don't tide anyone over, so it makes sense to split like this.

Trust, come October, you'll be glad of it when you realise that you can have more Who now rather than in 6 months ;)

Nah... I really don't mind waiting about a year between seasons. I guess when I was younger I did, but I quickly forgot about the show and found something else to do. This way, my distraction'll get interrupted. But doesn't really matter since me whining about it ain't gonna do anything. Just felt like whining, I suppose.

If anyone's interested I'v essentially typed up the last 6 minutes of of A Good Man Goes To War with River's speech to the Doctor on his anger and how we discover River's true identity. Obviously if you haven't seen the episode massive spoilers lie ahead (yes I know I have too much time on my hands but I'v watched it a dozen times so most of this was from memory by this point XD)

D is Doctor, R is River, Ro is Rory and A is Amy

River appears behind the Doctor
R: Well then Soldier, how goes the day?
The Doctor turns to her, deep anger and disappointment in his eyes and walks towards her
D: ...Where the Hell have you been?! Every time you asked I have been there. Where the Hell were you today?!
R: I couldn't have prevented this
D: You could have tried!
R: And so, my love, could you. (looking at Amy) I know you're not alright, but hold tight Amy because you're going to be
D: You think I wanted this?! I didn't do this, this wasn't me!
R: This was exactly you! All this, all of it. You make them so afraid. When you began all those years ago sailing off to see the Universe, did you ever think you'd become this? The man who can turn an army around at the mention of his name. Doctor, the word for 'healer' and wise man' throughout the Universe. We get that word from you you know? But if you carry on the way you are, what might that word come to mean? To the people of the Gamma Forests the word Doctor means 'mighty warrior'. How far you've come. And now they've taken a child. The child of your best friends and they're going to turn her into a weapon just to bring you down. And all this, my love, in fear of you
D: Who are you?
R: Oh look, your cot! Haven't seen that in a very long while!
River rushes back towards the Doctor's cot, but the Doctor pursues her, grabbing her hand
D: No, you tell me, you tell me who you are
R: I am telling you...can't you read?
The Doctor looks at the cot and slowly it dawns on him who River Song is. His anger seems to wash away and is replaced with joy
D: Hello
R: Hello
The Doctor laughs a little
D: But that means...!
R: I'm afraid it does!
The Doctor looks round at Amy and Rory
D: But you and I...we..we..we...uh...*makes motions with his mouth to symbolise kissing*
R: Yes
The Doctor laughs more, then looks back at Amy and Rory again. He composes himself and fixes his bowtie
D: How do I look?
R: Amazing
D: I better be
R: Yes you'd better be
D: Vash and Jenny till the next time. Amy, Rory, I know where to find your daughter and on my life she will be safe. River, get them all home
Ro: Doctor!
A: No! Where are you going? No!

The Doctor walks to the TARDIS and removes the forcefield around it with his sonic screwdriver as Amy is saying the things above. The Doctor leans his head out of the open door, points to River and gives a gleefull laugh. He goes back in, closes the door and the TARDIS dematerialises

Amy looks at River
A: Where's he going? What did you tell him?
R: Amy you have to stay calm
Amy walks towards her , picking up a gun and pointing it towards River
A: Tell me what you told the Doctor
Ro: Amy no, stop it!
R: It's ok Rory, she's fine, she's good. It's the TARDIS translation matrix. It takes a while to kick in with a written word. You have to concentrate
Amy looks at the Gallifreyan symbols on the cot but they do not translate. Amy re-emphasises the fact she has a gun
A: I still can't read it
R: It's because it's Gallifreyan, it doesn't translate. But this will
River picks up the prayer leaf Lorna had given Amy that was sitting in the cot and slowly places it in Amy's hand
R: It's your daughter's name in the language of the Forest
A: I know my daughter's name...
R: Except they don't have a word for Pond, because the only water in the forest is the river...The Doctor will find your daughter and he will care for her whatever it takes. And I know that...
Slowly the prayer leaf begins to translate. The word on the front reads 'River'. Amy turns it over and the other side reads 'Song'. Amy and Rory stare at it in disbelief
R: It's me...I'm Melody...I'm your daughter
Amy and Rory stare at River in disbelief and it cuts to the credits

Its no excuse, does it take that long to create subtitles for the show? All this time theyve been airing the episode starting from the 2005 series, and they are constaly making reruns, its like theyre audience hanging, ive saw the end of time, i saw the doctor regenarting into the 11th, and that just left me wanting for more. of course since exams are coming up im not going to be watching tv that much, but i hop by the time exams are over, theyve started to air the new series

Day 1 - Favourite Incarnation of the Doctor
David Tennant. I loved that guy, he practically reinvented the doctor for me, with his iconic appearance, ever-changing personality and wonderful taste in shoes (converses) he really made Doctor Who extremely enjoyable. Not to mention the fact that he stayed on for ages. And besides, he's just so brillaint, and his acting skills are amazing too.

Jenny is Madame Vastra (the Silurian)'s girlfriend. Madame Vastra had met the Doctor before, and owed him a debt, so when she went to fight, Jenny went with her (:

Lorna Bucket is also a new character. I doubt we'll see her back story, but as a character I did love her, and I was upset when she died ): And DORIUM! Was so annoyed. He was like one of my favourite characters ever. Just cause he's cool. But he got his head cut off, soo...

I'm not sure if this counts as spoilery, I don't think it does, but it's about the current main actors and how long they'll be staying on the show. It might spoil the surprise, like if you don't want to know when they're going to regenerate or leave or whatever, so I'm going to put it in small anyway :L

Matt Smith has signed on for Series 7 (yay <3)
Karen and Arthur are almost certainly leaving at the end of Series 6 - Arthur is doing something, a play I think, and Karen is playing a part in a new drama, and neither will have time for filming Doctor Who along with this.

Thanks for putting it in small - I'm one of those people who considers that a spoiler xD Because that gives another constraint on the theories. One actor/actress's leave/lack of leave date has already been spoiled to me - if I knew anymore then I'll probably be able to figure out the plot lmao!
