"But what if there is a better warrior?" Gorsepelt challenged. "Or what if you aren't chosen as deputy? What will you do then?"

"I already am the best." Owlpaw replied haughtily. "And I'll be chosen because I'm the best warrior they've got."

[Cradily]

"You? The best?" Gorsepelt gave Owlpaw a sharp cuff over the head. "You're hardly more than a kit! You don't even have your warrior name yet. What will happen when Quailstar doesn't choose you as his deputy? Will you retire to the elders' den and tell the kits of that generation your depressing story of failure?"

[Dark Moon]

Owlpaw scowled, his tail flicking with faint annoyance. "That won't happen." He replied. But after a moment, he muttered, "What do you think I should do?"

"What do you think you should do?" Gorsepelt countered. "Are you going to let Redfeather surpass you? Will you allow him to take what is rightfully yours?"

Owlpaw hesitated. He wasn't sure how to do that. Anwsering Gorsepelt's question's about Redfeather, he shook his head. "No!"

Gorsepelt flexed his claws. "Then you must take it by force."

"By force?" Owlpaw echoed.

[Cradily]

Gorsepelt nodded. "Yes. But we won't discuss that topic in any further detail until you become a warrior, as it will prove utterly useless to an apprentice. In the meantime..." He sank his teeth into Owlpaw's tail. "Fight!"

Owlpaw jerked foreward, freeing his tail from Gorsepelt's grasp. Spinning around, the apprentice lunged at Gorsepelt.
