Russetfang nodded, "Yea, a nap probably wouldn't be the best idea now, I guess," He laughed and sat down in his place, looking at Whiteleaf invitingly. "Sit next to me?"

"Of course!" Whiteleaf sat happily beside him. Perhaps the tom returned her feelings. The thought excited her beyond belief.

Brightstar's head was low, and he looked like a mess. "I believe it's time to announce the fact that it is unlikely that Russetwing will return." His voice was dry and scratchy. "The rest of the day will be spent morning her - our lost deputy, mother, friend, and m-mate." His voice broke at the end, and he had to take a moment to compose himself. "The new deputy of NightClan is Russetfang."

Although the loss of the previous deputy, Russetwing, was very depressing, Russetfang couldn't help but grin a little. He'd regained Brightstar's trust, and the trust of perhaps at least half of the clan, and that was exciting news to him. He stood shakily and padded slowly towards the highrock. Leaping up onto the rocks to meet his leader at the top, "Thank you for trusting me," he whispered

My cats cheered

Cherrystep's head lowered in grief as his adoptive father, Brightstar, mentioned his mother. Though he'd never admit it, though, he did believe in his former kidnapper, Russetfang, only a little.

Rushstorm reluctantly cheered.

LeafFall smiled and nodded, "BROTHAR"

Rowanpaw sat up, watching as Venus returned from a hunt, a large rabbit in her jaws. "Venus..." She trailed off, her eyes wide. The shecat ran to her side quickly. "What is is, is it the kits?" She asked quickly, buzzing around her like a bee. Rowanpaw simply nodded slowly. "The kits are coming." She said softly.

Whiteleaf cheered his name happily. "Congratulations!" she called as he padded forward.

Brightstar simply nodded. "Dismissed." He leaped down, heading back towards his den with heavy pawsteps.

Russetfang watched Brightstar stalk off to his den before leaping down from the highledge himself. He ran to Whiteleaf, "Well that was a pleasant surprise. I'm glad I didn't take that nap."

Whiteleaf flicked his nose with her tail. "Yes, a very good thing you didn't sleep through your ceremony!"

"That'd be embarrassing." Russetfang laughed and then looked around in realization, "I should call some patrols! You wanna lead one, or go with me?"
