As the other mare rushed to meet her foal, she smiled at the reunion. After a moment, it looked like Pyro once again became impatient, he lunged forward and delivered a nip to his mare, pushing her on with her foal. Rain got the message and pivoted back around, pressing back into a run. But it wasn't long until she saw Pyro slow out of the corner of her eye. The stallion went all the way down to a halt and turned his head over his shoulder to look back at the two remaining stallions. She was glad that the first two assailants had receded and fled. She supposed she had the strange bay and maybe even the palomino to thank for that. Yet, the two seemed to be having a conversation. Finally however, the palomino turned and cantered off, like a rabbit would scurry away from an approaching horse.
Pyro was staring at all of this. His stance was a bit rigid, his posture erect and intrigued. Her stallion suddenly let out a shrill nicker to the blood bay. His actions surprised Rain. What was it about this stranger that had somehow aroused Pyro? The dark bay’s attitude shifted unexpectedly to a more hostile, dominant, stance. Rain carefully followed his gaze. Her lip quivered in disgust. As it turned out, the palomino hadn't entirely fled. He had merely sought refuge on a nearby hill, far enough away from both stallions. She didn't know exactly what, but something about Pyro made her relax a bit. Maybe she didn't like seeing him like that. Maybe because she had seen the other side of him, the side that truly cared. Whatever it was made the red roan slowly approach Pyro from behind, passing by the other mare and her filly. As she pulled up alongside her new stallion, she tentatively reached over with her muzzle and touched it ever so carefully to his shoulder. She held it there for a moment before pulling her head back. “You okay?” The mare asked softly, a small spark of concern flashing in her brown eyes before disappearing.(Sorry for long post... I just had a lot of muse for her.)
