It depends? Like in my high school we changed it to one lunch where everyone had lunch for an hour so people could visit teachers and get work done for class, but if someone is doing study hall and theyโre just on their phones, I donโt consider that school time. So yes and no.
Everyone should have a basic understanding of sign language. In America, I had to learn a foreign language in order to get an advanced diploma. Sign Language was an option, but you could only take it if you were zoned for a specific school. You cannot use google translate for sign language, you literally cannot write down the hand movements because some hand movements may not be remembered and the message is not correct. Simple phrases, times, days of the week, simple words, etc. should be encouraged more than learning Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Russian, etc. German was offered at every single school in my city that offered foreign languages. Iโve never heard people speak German in my city, but Iโve seen sign language A LOT more.
