Well, I'm an adult, so for this is how it goes for us. Decorations go up on the day after thanksgiving and my son's Elf on The Shelf, Lucky Larry, shows up. We have various count down methods, an Advent calendar and a HallMark countdown radio my son uses every day. Christmas Eve evening, there is usually a party with my husband's family, though this year, due to family illness, this might not happen. We run our son ragged playing games and joking around (so hell sleep all night)and have him put out milk and cookies, and sometimes carrots for the reindeer, then send him off to bed. Once he's well and truly asleep, we put out all of our presents, all of which we hide to keep him from snooping, then off to bed ourselves. Christmas morning, my son goes through his stocking while we make breakfast, then presents. About noon, we load up and go to my husband's mothers house. From about noon on, it's my husband's birthday, yes, he was born christmas day. We go to a Chinese restaurant for a big birthday lunch/dinner, come back and have cake, ice cream and birthday gifts. Then we all settle back, fat and happy, for another year.
