More moons than the old and weary care to recount have passed since the four Great Clans were lost, destroyed by some unknown calamity. Their names – Thunderclan, Riverclan, Windclan and Shadowclan – are only remembered as a whisper in the back of a traveler’s mind, a reminder that a lone life is a longer one. But there are traces that still exist: paths beaten down by generations of paw steps, hollowed trees and dugouts beneath the brush, overgrown caves and pools that still glow in the night. There is a calling on the wind and in the water. It hangs within the clouds that hang overhead during the day but steer clear during the night so that the moon may shine its light. It beckons you.

The legacy of the clans needs to continue, so Starclan calls out to you. They will aid you in creating new clans with more powerful leaders and better trained warriors. They will deliver prey to your territories and line your borders with herbs. They only need you to make the first step. Young leader, will you contribute to making a clan so that the legacy of the Clans may live on? Can you make the largest, most powerful clan in the forest?

before creating new ranks – if you’re
interested in using ranks created by a user,

respect their decision if they decline. You
must have a screenshot of them agreeing
or else staff will consider it copying.

[ 10 ] Do not make an excessive amount
of ranks. If you have more than ten ranks,
you will be messaged in order to downsize
your ranks.
[ 11 ] You may only trade, gift or receive
five cats between your written posts. If you
do not implement all five cats within your
next post, you may only trade, gift or receive
however many remaining slots you have open.
[ 12 ] All images used in your post, either
as decoration or as a request for a cat, must
be free to use. Credit links must be included
in your posts.
[ 13 ] All line-art was created by CAC staff
to be used within the game. If you are seen
using it outside of the game, your cats will be
removed and placed back into circulation to
adopted by other users and you will be given
descriptions as a replacement. After a year,
you may request to have line-art again, but if
there is a second infraction, you will be
permanently banned. If you have any quest-
ions regarding what you can and cannot do
with the line-art, please contact your mod
or another staff member.
[ 14 ] Please be patient with line-art
transfers. If you haven’t received a follow-up
within a month of your request, you may re-
send your request or contact one of the mods.

been listed below. Please make sure to read

If it is your first time posting, you’ll need to set up a starting post by describing your clan! All clans must have a name, prey and predator list, and common cat colors and lengths commonly found in your territory. If you plan on changing the names of ranks or adding ranks for your clan, you may also place them in your starting post. You may include your clan’s belief system – Starclan will be the default unless stated otherwise – and although additional facts are optional, you’re encouraged to add as much as you like into your starting post. If you need something to go off of, examples of things you can include are: your clan’s nature, reputation, territory, and general personality. This information helps the staff decide on what your first cat, the leader, will look like!

Within our scheduled replies, we will quote your starting post with a picture of your new leader and your clan will be officially founded! After receiving your cat, you can decide your leader’s name, age (minimum of 21 moons), and gender. For every post made after your starter, we expect you to use the post format available below. After placing your cat under the appropriate link, make sure to replace the ‘link’ in the url code with your cat’s image link!

For your first five posts, you will be given free-to-use pictures. After the first five posts are up, you may choose to have your clan cats transferred to the line-art or you may continue using free-to-use pictures. Please note that all line-art belongs to CAC staff and cannot be used outside of CAC. You may take the designs off the lines for roleplays, but you may not use the official lineart outside of the CAC game.

Players who have been active members of Create A Clan for a year or more can create a second Clan. Players who have been active for two+ years may now make a third Clan. However, the third Clan must be in hard mode (see hard mode for more information) While optional, you still have to take care of all Clans. You are not allowed to trade or breed between your three Clans (i.e. giving one of your Clans prey, herbs, or cats from the other Clan). Should you decide to not continue with your clan(s), you can disband or restart a clan. Contact a mod if this is something you would like to do. If you are restarting, you may take five cats from your previous Clan to your new one. If you have three Clans and are restarting one of them, you may either take five cats from the restarted Clan to the new one, or take five cats from the restarted Clan to one of your other established Clan. You may not do both. The rest of the cats in your clan may be adopted out by members of our staff, or be considered deceased.

With only your founder, of course you’ll soon be looking for ways to fill out your clan’s ranks! There are multiple methods for going about acquiring new cats, both within your posts and within the CAC community. In your posts, you may send your cats out on border patrols to chance an encounter with a wandering rogue or towards the Moonpool – or your clan’s equivalent – to request a new cat. For non-specific requests, you will be allowed to send your leader to the Moonpool every other post. However, if you wish to link a specific picture or ask for a specific breed, those requests are limited to every other visit to the Moonpool. Within the community, you can add more cats to your clan through disbanded clan adoptions, staff-led raffles and events, and as a gift for your birthday. You will be allowed to pick your new cats name, gender, age and rank if applicable.

Now that you understand you have some freedom picking out cats to add to your clan, we'd like to clear some things up before you get too ahead of yourself. Due to Create-A-Clan providing new cats on line-art, the staff has made a list of cat breeds/coats that are restricted to certain occasions or that have been eliminated entirely. Cat breeds that can be found from Moonpool requests and Birthday cat requests can still be found on patrols if a mod/artists chooses to make them and give them out. All cats except small wildcats can be received through breeding. Below is a list of cat breeds that are restricted to certain circumstances. In every post, you must age your cats up by one moon – an apprentice aged six moons in one post will be aged seven moons in the next. You may not alter your cats’ ages if they’ve been present in more than one post, or if they came with a specified age or age range from a readopt event. Kits do not have accelerated growths and still age up one moon per post. At six moons, you may move them into your clan’s apprentice ranks. Apprentices do not have a maximum age range, as whether or not they rank up is determined by their skill set – if they have no skills, they are barred from becoming warriors. It is up to you to decide when your cats retire from their warrior duties, but your mods may begin to encourage you to do so once they reach around 100 moons of age.

There are currently five ways for your mod to kill off your cats: old age, complications during birth resulting in the death of the mother and/or their kits, predator and enemy cat attacks, starvation, and untreated sicknesses and injuries. Until you’ve gathered a fair number of cats, your mod will restrict death to old age and neglect only. After you’ve passed this threshold, you may mark down the cats that you absolutely do not want killed with a symbol – but please make it clear somewhere in your post what your symbol means so that your mod knows not to kill off those specific cats.

[Old Age] Once a cat hits around 150 moons, your mod will begin rolling to see if they pass on from old age. The probability of the rolls will increase for every moon your cat continues to live. When the cat reaches 200 moons, they will automatically pass.
[Birth Complications] Depending on the season or general health of the queen, complications may occur during the birth of your new litter. You may end up losing any number of the kits, the queen, or the entire family. While you may be able to save the queen if she is marked down, you may still lose the litter to complications. You may use herbs to aid a troubled queen and future litter, but there are still chances your kits will be born with disabilities or illnesses if the roll was particularly bad.
[Enemy Attacks] While it is unlikely your camp will be invaded – unless you make it known to your mod that that is something you’d like to occur – your clan cats can still come across predators in their territory. Your mod will set up an interaction in their response and it will be up to you to decide how your cats act. If you cats decide to pursue the enemy, there is a chance that some of them will perish from the fight.
[Starvation] If your clan runs out of food or you decide to not feed your cats, you will have two moons to recover. If you are unable or choose not to, your cats will begin dying off from hunger. One cat will die per post without food.
[Illnesses and Injuries] While out on patrols, your cats may become sick or injured. More often than not, you will be given a warning to see to your cat’s health two posts before they turn for the worst. However, some injuries and illnesses may prove to be immediately fatal if you’ve allowed your mod to roll for death regularly.

✧▬▬ 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐅𝐄𝐃 ▬▬✧

For your first three posts, your clan will go through a fasting period where consuming prey is not required. During this time, it is recommended that you send your cats out on hunting patrols to stock up before your fourth post, where you will need to begin feeding your clan lest they starve to death. You are allowed a maximum of six cats per hunting patrol. The more cats on your patrol, the more prey your clan will catch. You do not need to give up as many servings as there are cats in your clan. The required amount of servings increases from two by one for every six cats in your clan.

In your starting post, you will list the available prey your clan can come across. Clans will always have a set of six available prey, with servings varying depending on species. You may pick which prey to have within your set, and you may change out prey for creatures more specific to your clan’s territory. Please keep in mind that your serving sizes will need to be kept balanced, with some prey offering fewer servings and others offering more. Listed below are some example prey species and the range of servings and serving sizes available to you. You will be notified by a mod if your selected set is out of balance and unfair. After receiving your leader and starting up your clan’s first official post, please remember to fill in the prey section with your preferred set.

If you run out of food or choose not to hunt during your fasting posts, you will have two posts to get enough prey to feed your clan before your cats begin dying off from hunger. For every post your clan goes hungry, a cat in your clan will die from starvation. Prey cannot be requested, so make sure to set up hunting patrols in your early posts!

Now that your clan has been established with a starting post and has received its leader from one of the mods, you may begin constructing your clan’s story however you see fit. However, there are things you need to keep in mind so that your clan can continue to grow and function correctly without dying off too quickly. Your clan cats have duties that they will need to fulfill to guarantee a successful clan, and it is up to you to decide who does what and when. In the ‘actions’ section of your clan posts, you may list down what you plan on sending your cats out to do: going out on a border or hunting patrol, searching for herbs, becoming mates and/or trying for kits, and completing training sessions with apprentices.

You will always be required to mention what prey and subsequent serving amount your clan has consumed for each post, but other actions are up to you. If your clan has traditions that would not fit in with the actions listed above, feel free to add them in separately so that your mod can introduce random events as a response. If you have any questions regarding your actions, please feel free to pm any available mod. A detailed description of each action will be listed below, so look through that first before carrying any further questions towards a mod.

Warriors can go on two different types of patrols: hunting patrols and border patrols. Each post, until your clan gets bigger, you may send out a maximum of four patrols with each patrol having a maximum of six cats. For every 25 new cats after the first 50, you can add one new prey type, another patrol and an additional cat to each patrol. If you need help calculating your patrols or prey types as your clan gets bigger, feel free to message any of the staff team for help.

Cats don't have an unlimited amount of energy to patrol and do other actions. If they go over the limit of actions in a post, they have an increased chance of becoming ill or injured, no matter the season. Warriors (including the leader, deputy, warriors and apprentices) can only go on one patrol, while medicine cats can only complete two actions. While warriors can help medicine cats on herb patrols, they will find something "useless" (i.e sticks, pebbles, poisonous herbs). The same goes for medicine cats on hunting/border patrols (i.e. 1 serving prey, pebbles)

On border patrols, you clan may find new cats, pebbles, predators or occasionally a random event such as an injury or death may occur. You will usually find warriors or apprentices on patrols, though there is a chance to find queens, elders or even kits. When encountering a predator, there are several things that can happen, which can include scenting one, chasing one out, or even getting ambushed. What happens is random and is determined by your mod's rolls.

On hunting patrols, you clan will catch prey. In harder seasons, like Leaf-fall and Leafbare, prey will be harder to find and your patrols will catch less. In the warmer seasons of Newleaf and Greenleaf, prey will be bountiful and easier to come by. Your clan will be limited to six prey types, four patrols, and a maximum of six cats on each patrol at the start. This can and will change, however.

✧▬▬ 𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐒 ▬▬✧

Once you receive your first medicine cat, you will be able to choose five herbs to start off your storage with. The herb list that is used can be found here. Some mods will also use this list for other herbs not on the first list. You will need to send your medicine cat out on herb-hunting patrols to keep your storage stocked up. There will be a limit to how many herbs your cat can collect, with the minimum adjusting based on the season and number of medicine cats present in your clan.

In Newleaf, the minimum herbs a medicine cat will find is four, in Greenleaf the minimum is five herbs, in Leaf-fall it is three herbs, and Leafbare is two herbs. If your medicine cat receives an apprentice, or your clan gains another medicine cat, you will be able to find an extra herb per extra medicine cat each patrol.

The herbs stored in your medicine storage can be used to heal sick or injured cats, and help kitting queens.

✧▬▬ 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐊𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 ▬▬✧

You may find out down the line that there are certain pairings you’d like to get together to start raising families. This is necessary to keep your clan going! Without any new kits to fill out your clan’s ranks, your clan will struggle to thrive. To make your cats’ mateship official, you will need to list which cats are becoming mates in your action queue. Please remember that cats cannot become mates until both are twenty-one moons or older and of warrior rank or higher. You are allowed and encouraged to develop relationships between cats of all genders. Although ‘couple’ is used in the following paragraph, you may have polyamorous relationships between your cats.

By default, a mod will roll for kits, so make sure to mention whether or not your pairing is ready for a litter in your action queue. Couples who cannot have kits themselves are allowed to have a cat outside of the mateship – within the clan or elsewhere – surrogate for them. Your cats may try out for more than one litter so long as you mention it in your action queue. There is a cooldown in place for both toms and mollies that will need to run its course when the pregnancy roll is successful: mollies must wait six posts after they give birth before they can try for another litter, whereas toms must wait for three moons after a successful pregnancy roll.

After posting a litter attempt in your clan’s queue, you will be notified by your mod as to whether or not your cats were successful. In the event that they were, the parent carrying the kits will give birth three moons following the initial reply. Your cat will remain pregnant in the following two posts. In the third, you will need to mention in your action queue that they are going into labor and/or giving birth to their kits. Your mod will then roll for the number of kits as well as any complications that may have occurred during labor. There is a chance that the parent or kits could die, or that the kits are born with defects. You can lower these chances by having your medicine cat attend the birth and by using kitting herbs.

If you want to have a chance to introduce a new bloodline into your clan through random non-clan pairings, turn on Flings! This is an optional feature that allows your moderator to roll if one of your AFAB cats has a fling with a passing loner. To turn on this setting, list it in your post's mod notes and mark any AFAB cats you are fine with having flings. The fathers of the litters will be randomly generated with a genotype of Moonpool level or below, but have a small chance of passing on a special non-Moonpool gene.

One last reminder! Litters conceived through dubious or non-consensual relationships are not allowed. You will be banned and reported if you are found to have tried to achieve a litter through these means.

So, your kits are ready to be apprenticed! When a kit is at least six moons of age, you can mention in your action queue that they’ve been accepted as apprentices. Kits will automatically be moved up in rank unless your clan has customs or traditions that dictate otherwise. Once a kit becomes an apprentice, you will need to assign them a mentor and get them started on their training. Before your apprentice can become a warrior, they must successfully completely four training sessions, though you may extend their training for as long as you’d like.

Your apprentice can learn a new skill during each training session, and you are allowed to provide your mod with a list of potential skills your apprentices can learn. Apprentices do have the potential to fail at learning certain skills and to become injured, depending on how your mod rolls. When you are ready to move your apprentices up to warriors, your apprentices will be required to take an assessment – the results of which will be rolled by your mod. If an apprentice fails, you will need to try again next time. If they succeed, they will be given their warrior name. Apprentices cannot hunt, patrol, or train in the same moon they take their final assessments in. You may provide a name in the same action as when you mention your apprentice will be taking their assessment. If a name is not provided, your mod will come up with something themselves.

Medicine cat apprentices must also train to become full medicine cats. Unlike warrior apprentices, they will be required to learn at least five skills before they’ll be allowed to rank up. Depending on your Clan size, it's recommended to have a certain number of medicine cats trained/training for every 25 clan members to help maintain the clan's health. This is merely a suggestion and it doesn't have to be used.

Your clan isn’t the only one out there! There are a number of others trying to build the strongest, most powerful clan in the forest. You can interact with them at the gatherings, held on a separate thread for roleplay. Gatherings occur bimonthly, beginning on the first Friday and lasting until the next Friday. All of your clans may attend the gathering, and you are allowed to bring your leader, deputy, medicine cat, and six other cats of your choice. As your clan grows larger, you will be allowed to bring more cats. For every twenty-five cats after reaching fifty, you are allowed to take two more cats.

Gatherings allow you to roleplay with other players. You will have the opportunity to develop friendships and forbidden romances between your cats and that of another clans. You can also acquire allies and enemies, and you are free to start fights and set up for future wars. Of course, you’re not required to use the gatherings to make these connections with other players, but it is a fun way to develop your characters and expand your clan’s world.

Gatherings sometimes offer rewards for attending. There are stud events that allow you to introduce new genes into your clan. And, during seasonal events, there is a chance that the gatherings will have special raffles that you will be eligible to enter after having posted in the gathering thread at least two times.

✧▬▬ 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐄𝐒 ▬▬✧

Through the gathering, fanclub and discord server, you can find potential allies and enemies for your clan. Allies tend to act friendly towards each other, resolving disputes without fighting and offering aid in times of need. You can trade cats, herbs, and prey with an allied clan. If your clan is under the attack of an enemy, you can call on your allies to help defend you – however, it is up to the other player as to whether or not they follow through with it.

Enemies tend to be much more hostile towards each other, normal interactions falling back to fighting and arguing. With permission from the other clan, you can send raiding parties with four or more cats to steal kits, apprentices, elders, herbs and/or food. You do take a risk with raiding another clan, however. Raids will often result in injuries and death on either side of the fight.

✧▬▬ 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐁𝐈𝐃𝐃𝐄𝐍 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒 ▬▬✧

Although a forbidden relationship is clearly defined within the canon lore of warriors, you get the final say in what is or is not a forbidden relationship. Classically, forbidden romances are romantic relationships between a medicine cat and a clan member or clan members from different clans. However, you can create your clan’s idea of a forbidden relationship based around your clan’s lore and relations to other clans. You can develop forbidden romances at the gathering, if you’d like to stay in character.

If you choose to try for kits with a cat from another clan, you will need to discuss where the kits will end up together and notify your mods. You are allowed to split the kits between the two clans. If it fits within your clan’s lore, you may also choose to exile the parents and/or the kits for being a part of the forbidden relationship. Please let your mod know what you’d like to do with the cats afterwards, whether that be readopting them out, killing them off, or leaving them in limbo with the potential to return to your clan at a later date.

Each season lasts two real-life months and begins with a Gathering that lasts for one week. When your mod replies to your post, the season will affect their rolls. If your mod rolls for your clan to encounter a natural disaster, they may use the following unless specified otherwise: droughts, storms, blizzards, oil or chemical spills, floods, and fires.

⛄⛄ Leafbare | Winter ⛄⛄ During leafbare, the chances of illness and injury increase. If one cat performs multiple actions in the same post, they are more likely to catch a cold. If they do, it's recommended to keep them in camp for 2 posts or else their cold might progress to a more serious illness. The sun begins to set early and due to the cold, clans are likely to catch less prey and find fewer cats.

🌸🌸 Newleaf | Spring 🌸🌸 During newleaf, kittings run much smoother and the chances of queens or kits dying during birth go down dramatically. Cats are less likely to catch an illness and are more likely to catch prey. With all the snowmelt, flooding is more likely. Finally, clans are more likely to find new cats.

xxxx The work of a medicine cat just got a whole lot harder! Now with Medicine Mode enabled, your mod will no longer tell you which herbs or how much of said herb is needed to treat your medicine cat’s patients. Your mod will give you the symptoms and/or injuries a cat has sustained, and it is up to you, acting as your medicine cat, to decide which herb is most appropriate for the situation and how much you will need to use. If you don’t choose correctly, there is a chance that your cat’s injury or sickness will get worse. Your mod will let you know whether or not your medicine cat instincts were correct or incorrect in their replies, and will provide you the necessary information to try again next time. Elders will now need to be checked for ticks every 3 moons by apprentices. If elders are not checked, it can affect them negatively. Previously deemed useless herbs, such as cob nuts, beech nuts and moss can now be used on various tasks (i.e. nuts to attract prey, moss for dehydration) Medicine Mode is an optional add-on to both the Classic Mode and Hard Mode.

As Create A Clan has grown bigger and taken on the lineart as its main source of character references, the staff as a whole has decided to form a terms of service (TOS) for it. All new members will be directed to this section in their founding replies. The following terms will spell out what can and can't be done with the lineart, as well as the procedures for growths and alterations for your characters. All new members must state their agreement to the terms below in their first post in order to receive lineart after their initial five post waiting period.

[ 1 ] Lineart given to you by the Create A Clan staff will not be used outside of this game. They are akin to copyrighted photos (allowed to be used with limitations) and are an alternative for free-to-use photos.
[ 2 ] Lineart that has not been actively used (six or more months) without explanation or prior agreement will be put back into circulation.
[ 3 ] If you plan on using your character outside of Create A Clan in any capacity, you will need to use an alternative reference. Art commissioned for your character separate from the lineart is not considered part of the game.
[ 4 ] You may use lineart as references for the Create A Clan character on sites such as Toyhouse so long as credit is given to the proper artist and is not used outside of its intended use.
[ 5 ] The penalty for using lineart outside of its intended use is immediate revocation of the given lineart. If you choose to remain in the game, you may request lineart after a year following the infraction. Further penalties include permanent banning from the game and art theft claims.

[ 3 ] Staff members will provide growths when appropriate. You may remind your mod that certain characters need growths when they are 11-12 moons.
[ 4 ] Staff members have different skill sets and comfort levels when it comes to growths and alterations. If the requested staff member cannot fulfill your request, they will pass it off to a different staff member who can and will inform you of the change.
[ 5 ] Give staff a two-week period following a request before asking for updates. Many of us are in higher education or work full-time.

the cats of earthfall live in a ravine next to a maze of abandoned mineshafts. they fish in the warm seasons and search for prey looking for warmth in the mines during the cold seasons. while there is an elected agent that supervises all of the innerworkings of earthfall and a deputy to assist the agent, most of duties are done without much instruction. at any time, a re-election can be held anytime if a cat has a strong enough argument and support. of course there are medics needed as ravine life is unforgiving and cats living through adulthood are rare. the remaining cats are split into two groups: surveyors and sinkers, the latter more commonly referred to as 'minecats'. surveyors patrol their territory keeping threats and predators at bay and fish in the stream that divides the land. sinkers are the ones who travel in the mines, documenting the shafts and finding nooks where prey gravitate towards. young cats train in both surveying and sinking and are known as trappers. they, along with their mentor, decide which branch they'll join after passing a series of tasks.

i formally disbanded both fanged force (site) and flos vitae (second clan). i am only keeping Nyx of flos vitae. however, i am requesting another founder, one who preferably knows more about mines than the former kittypet. ; ) hard mode and medicine mode will be added on at a later date.

Today was the day Angel would start their Clan. They quickly wolfed down their wet food, and raced to the front door, waiting impatiently to be let out. Angel let out a pathetic whine, and one of the housefolk kits came to open the door. The white cat sped out the door, heading to the neighbor's house where their dear friend Spooky was sunning in the early morning light.

"Spooky! Today I'm going to make a Clan! Do you want to join me?"

The tom's green gaze drifted lazily towards his friend. "You're really obsessed with this Clan thing, aren't you? Are you sure Clans are even real, and not just some story the loner made up to impress us?"

Angel huffed. "Who cares if the story was true? I wanna be a Clan leader, it sounds like fun! My housefolk always leave for most of the day, I'm so bored all alone at home. I want something I can do all day, with all of my friends!"

Spooky rolled his eyes. "If you can prove you're serious about this, then maybe I'll join you. But don't you need a territory before you can call it a Clan? I don't think our neighbors would appreciate you claiming their dens as your territory, so you're going to have to find someplace wild."

"Thank you Spooky, that's excellent advice!" Not waiting for a response, Angel ran off in search of an unclaimed territory.

Angel eventually found a large patch of forest and field, bordered by slow thunderpaths on all sides and not far from the dens that Angel and their friends lived within. Within the forest was a small clearing, that with some work could be turned into a camp.
