xxxFor centuries, dogs resided not only alongside humans, but among the wild. They
thrived, had healthy lives away from the humans and their leashes, and away from t
he commotion of the cities. But all of this was only possible thanks to their ancestor
s, who watched-over and guided them in their times of need. Not long ago, however,
the ancestors ceased their communications with the feral dog packs. Many went sca
mpering right back to the humans, sniveling and whining for their leashes and kibble
back. But others, the brave and valiant, endured the darkness of starless nights.
xxxThe stars are awakening once more - this time brighter than ever - and returning
to aid the feral dogs. Will they rise to start a new pack? Will it be you?

𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐅𝐅
xxxxWelcome to CaK! The first thing you want to do before you begin with your kennel is to make sure you have read all of the rules. Once you’ve done that, you’ll want to read this “How To Play” section thoroughly so that you understand how everything works. If you still have any questions, feel free to post them on the fanclub or message one of the CaK mods, all of whom are willing and able to help you at any time!
xxxxYou’ve just stepped into the world of CaK, and you’re going to need some help to get started. In order to begin, you, the player, will write a description of your kennel. This description can be as detailed as you would like, or you can make it simple and quick. It all depends on how developed you would like your kennel to be. Here are a few things you should take into consideration when you create your kennel; How will they act? Where do they live? Where do they speak to the ancestors? Where do they hunt? Do they have a religion? Gods?
xxxxOnce the description is completed, post it on this thread and wait for a moderator to accept your kennel and give you its leader. If you would like, you can also request a specific leader of your choosing by linking a a free to use image of your chosen dog with your starting post. They will then assign your own mod, of whom will then decide the fates of your dogs each post, and cause quite the adventure to arise. Continue reading to discover all of the aspects of playing CaK!
xxxxYou may also create a second kennel if you have posted a minimum of twenty kennel posts. The second kennel would be the same as any other kennel, but it may not have any connections with your original kennel. You may not be allies or enemies with your second kennel or have forbidden relationships with them. However, if you choose to readopt one of your kennels, you can either choose to restart with six dogs of your choice or put six dogs of your choice into your other kennel.
𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐆𝐒
xxxxWhat would a kennel be without dogs? Dogs are the pillars of your kingdoms, and as such, are available to be found through patrols, ancestor requests, readoptions, and events. You may chose their name, gender, rank, background, and age unless specific rules apply.
xxxxPatrols encountering other dogs tend to be very common early in game play, however, as you advance, these occurrences will become less common. If your patrol does encounter a dog, it will most likely be an irontooth, but every now then they will come across a pup-mother, elder, tenderpaw, or pup (if your kennel has a nursing pup-mother). Some event dogs can increase the chance of these meetings by guaranteeing a random dog or even a certain type of dog.
xxxxYour leader will be able to speak with the ancestors and ask for a random or specifically ranked dog once a week. You may also request a dog with a certain free to use picture every three weeks. This will take the place of the weekly request and is not additional.
xxxxRouge attacks, natural disasters, or even treachery may cause a kennel to disband, leaving the members without a home. When this occurs, a readopt will be posted on the fanclub stating that the dogs are for adoption. You must follow the specific rules of each readoption, for if you chose not to, you will not receive the dog. When you have received the canine, you may add them into your kennel in one of two ways: finding them on patrol or adding them directly to your kennel. You may only add up to five (5) of these dogs at a time when adding them directly to your kennel, so chose wisely!
xxxxHaving pups is another way to add members to your kennel and will be defined later. Finally, the last way to receive a canine is through events.
𝐃𝐎𝐆 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒
xxxxFrom the smallest Chihuahua to the largest Great Dane, dog breeds of all shapes and sizes are allowed in the world of Create A Kennel. You can include which dog breeds are commonly found within your kennel, though it isn’t always a guarantee that you will get these breeds each time a dog comes your way, though we try to make sure that the majority of your dogs are of those breeds.
xxxxHowever, lurking within the shadows lies kin to the dog. Jackals, coyotes, maned wolves; they populate this world beside the dog, though few dare venture into the domain of the dog. Yet, some have, from artic wolves of the north to fennec foxes of the south, they can find their way into the kennels — and perhaps even hearts — of a rare few.
xxxxIn Create A Kennel, there is a rare chance to encounter canidae species outside of raffles. The chance of encountering them varies on the species, with wolfdogs having the highest rate of being found and maned wolves having the lowest. Despite some species being more common than others, they are all extremely rare. In addition to this statement, all canidae that happen to be found on a patrol will be infertile. This is the opposite of any raffle canines, which are all fertile and able to breed with dogs. Species you can encounter: wolves, jackals, maned wolves, coyotes, foxes, african wild dogs, dholes, raccoon dogs. this also include hybrids of dogs, like wolfdogs, for example.
𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐒
xxxxYou are able to send up to 6 dogs out on a patrol at one time until you reach 40 dogs. There are only a few things that can happen on patrols: you can find prey, you can chase off a threat, you can find a new dog at the border (however the further along your kennel gets the less likely this is to happen), you will usually only find ironteeth, omegas and tenderpaws but you will sometimes find pups at the border if you have pup-mothers available; and you can find an alpha of a rival kennel that will ask for an alliance that you can accept, ignore or even decide on becoming enemies.
xxxxAfter reaching 40 dogs, you may bring up to 8 dogs on patrols or hunts, which then allows you to hunt and catch prey that is over 6 servings. Mind you, the more servings the more risk that is involved in the hunt, so be careful who you send out to hunt these beasts.
𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒
xxxxThe leaders, or Alphas as most dogs call them, are the foundation of your kennel. They are the ones who determines pack laws, makes crucial decisions, and most importantly speaks with the ancestors. You might be asking “But isn’t that what the Shaman does?” Well, to answer your question, yes, the Shaman also speaks with the ancestors, but your alpha is the only dog in your kennel who can request aid from the them, such as requesting new dogs.
xxxSome kennels have more than one leader, or maybe even a group of dogs representing a common goal. It all depends on how you want your kennel structured.
xxxThe beta is the second in command and most often the one who replaces the leader after death or retirement. Many kennels choose to not have this rank and instead opt for heirs and/or advisors, with the heirs being the ones who succeed the leader.
xxxThe Shaman is the caretaker of your kennel, ensuring the health of the dogs and providing advice to dogs in power. These Shamans are used for helping with things that no others can help with. For one, a Shaman must be present with birthing mothers or sick dogs - not being present results in a VERY high risk of death. They may also explore the territory for herbs that will help them in their tasks. Shamans will be described in more detail later on.
xxxThe majority of your kennel is made up of Ironteeth, or your kennel’s equivalent. They’re the ones who hunt, patrol, and fight for your kennel, so make sure they are well taken care of! Sometimes this role is separated into many smaller ranks, depending on what they do. This is okay, as long as the ranks do not become confusing and impede gameplay.
xxxTenderpaws are dogs learning to become their respective ranks, be it a shaman or Irontooth.
xxxThe role of the Omega is up to your interpretation, some kennels use this group as demoted dogs, ones who have betrayed the kennels or are somehow not fit for duty.
xxxPup-mothers are dogs who are pregnant or nursing pups. The aspect of mates and pups will be outlined later on.
Pups are the young of the kennel and between 0-6 moons.
xxxWhenever you have a dog who has proven themselves, or is old enough to advance in rank (6 months- pup to tenderpaw, 12-16 months - tenderpaw to irontooth/omega, etc) you can send your alpha to speak with the stars to tell the ancestors of your decision to do a ceremony. You must also do this when promoting a dog to deputy, or retiring a dog to become an elder.
xxxIf you do choose to change the ranks please keep in mind that copying of unique ranks and/or ideas may be considered copyright. So, to reduce quarrels, please remember to ask beforehand
𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒/𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐔𝐏𝐒
xxxxWithout pups, your kennel will struggle to survive. So, in order to have two dogs become mates, post them going for a walk together and one of them asking the other to be their mate. Your mod will then reply, saying that the female is pregnant. However, sometimes she may fail to become pregnant. This is most often due to chance, but there is a small likelihood that either the male and/or female has a genetic fault. If the female becomes pregnant, she will be due in two moons. After 2 posts pass, the female will go into labour, which you will indicate in your third post after the female is said to be pregnant. If you wish for the female to not have her pups yet, make sure to mention that also. There must be at least 3-4 moons of rest for a mother before she is able to try for pups again.
xxxThe world of Create a Kennel is open to the LGBTQ+ community and queer characters will always be accepted. Same-sex couples may adopt an orphan pup or the leader may request a pup if you have pup-mothers present. Any hatred towards the LGBTQ+ community will be reprimanded, oftentimes resulting in a ban or strike.
𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆/𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇
xxxxYou must age your dog up 1 month/moon every post. If in one post, you had a tenderpaw who was 8 months, then in the next post you would make that tenderpaw be 9 months. In this game, there are 5 possible ways for your dogs to die; being born stillborn, old age (100 moons+), being attacked severally by a dangerous animal/another dog, pup-mothers can die having pups, and not having their injuries treated within 2 days of them getting injured and/or sick.
𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆/𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐒
xxxxThe shaman is a crucial member of your kennel, providing your dogs with a healer that will aid them when a dog is sick or injured. They go by many names in different kennels, though they all hold a certain air of wisdom and power that earns the respect of many.
xxxWhen you find your Shaman, you will have the option to choose 5 herbs to start off your medical storage. When you send your Shaman out to find herbs, you can only find 2 every patrol the Shaman takes to find herbs. Once your Shaman gets a tenderpaw, you will be able to find 3 on one patrol. You store your herbs in the medicine store and they can be used to heal sick or injured dogs. Shamans must also be present with birthing mothers or sick dogs - not being present holds a very high risk of death or complications during birth.
xxxxYour kennel is able to have 2 shamans until they reach over 40 members, in which they may have 4. However, you may only request your first shaman. Any other shaman must either be trained from a tenderpaw, adopted from re-adopts, or be found on patrols, which has a very rare chance of occurring. The more shamans there are searching for herbs, the more herbs that can be found on a patrol.
xxxThe herbs used in Create A Kennel are the same as used in the Warrior Cats novels, listed here.
𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒/𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆
xxxAll dogs must learn the ways of the wild in order to benefit the safety and security of your kennel. One way to do this is to initiate young dogs with the process of training. Once pups reach the age of 6 months, they are able to become tenderpaws and begin training. Mentors are chosen by you and assigned to a certain tenderpaw, keeping in mind that a mentor may only have one tenderpaw at a time, and a tenderpaw may only have one mentor. Before your tenderpaw is allowed to graduate and become an irontooth, they must complete 4 training sessions with their mentor and be at least 12 months old. Once a tenderpaw graduates, they may take an assessment specific to their kennel's tradition. This assessment will determine whether or not a tenderpaw can graduate and move up the ranks. Simple state in your 'actions' of the post that "(tenderpaw's name) takes their assessment". Your mod will determine whether they pass or fail. If they fail, the tenderpaw must try again next moon.
xxxTo train a tenderpaw, simply state in the 'actions' of your post that "(tenderpaw's name) trains with (mentor's name)". Your tenderpaw will learn a new 'move' during each training session. Similarly, shaman tenderpaws must go through training sessions with the shaman. They will learn 'moves' specific to that of a shaman. However, when they reach 12 moons and have completed all of their training, they will become a shaman.
𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐍
xxxThis varies greatly from kennel to kennel, from polytheistic monks to atheistic punks. Some like to create their own original religions, while others like to take inspiration from modern or archaic religions for their kennel to follow. You are not required to have a system of beliefs, but it is recommended as it introduces more depth and dimension to your kennel.
𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐋𝐒
xxxIf you meet a neighboring kennel while on patrol, you can choose to become their ally. Ally kennels usually act friendly towards each other and resolve disputes without fighting. You can give herbs to an ally kennel if they don't have the herbs they need but you do and if they are in desperate need of one. If your kennel is under attack by an enemy kennel, your ally kennel can join the fight and defend you as long as the enemy kennel isn't their ally. If your ally defends you in an attack, you have a dramatically lower chance of your dogs dying or being captured.
𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐘 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐋𝐒
xxxIf you meet a neighboring kennel while on patrol, you can choose to become their enemy or rival. Enemy kennels usually act hostile towards each other and often argue or fight. You can steal pups, tenderpaws, elders and herbs while raiding an enemy kennel camp. You need 4 dogs to do this and the only way the kennel can get these back is if they attack the kennel. Attacks can prove fatal and there will often be dogs injured, captured or even killed during attacks.
xxxWhen becoming enemies with a kennel, it is recommended to discuss with the owner of the kennel the happenings and outcomes of such attacks.
𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐁𝐈𝐃𝐃𝐄𝐍 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒
xxxForbidden romances are romantic relationships with either a shaman or a dog from another kennel. Dogs can form romances with dogs from both ally and enemy kennels and can sneak out of camp to meet them.. However, if the relationship results in pups, they will have to find a dog willing enough to cover up as their father. It is extremely rare, but some dogs may find out that the pups are forbidden and the parent(s) and/or pups could be exiled from the kennel.
𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐘
xxxWhen first starting-out, your kennel will have 3 posts of fasting to gather needed resources. After your first 3 posts, your kennel will use up two servings of food in order to ensure no dogs starve. Once you reach seven kennel members, your serving will go up 1. Then the next time you get seven more dogs, your serving will go up by one again. If your kennel is not fed, or the required amount of servings are not met, dogs will begin to starve and die within two posts. The most vulnerable being the pups and elders, tenderpaws to follow.
xxxTo gather prey for your kennel, you must send your ironteeth or your kennel's equivalent on hunting patrols. The max amount of dogs you can send out on a hunting patrol is 6 dogs; for every 2 dogs on the patrol, they can find one piece of prey, so the max amount of prey you can get from one hunting patrol is 3 pieces of prey. In the winter and fall you are more likely to get find even less. You can use six or more types of prey. An example of a set would be; mice, pigeons, voles, rabbits, deer, chicken and squirrels. There must be at least one prey item that is one serving. You can switch out the different types of prey depending on what is normally found in your kennel's territory, but don't make it a type of prey that dogs wouldn't normally eat. When you fill in your form after receiving your alpha, remember to fill in the six types of prey your kennel will be using (you may use more, just don't go overboard). Very rarely, the mod who replies to your kennel will give you something outside of those six+.
𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒
xxxEach season will last two weeks, after which a new season will start, going in order from Winter to Fall. When your mod replies to your post, the mod will write what type of weather your kennel has for that day, which will ultimately effect how things go for you that day.
Winter - During winter, the chances of catching greencough is higher. If you send the same dog out multiple times in the same post, they are more likely to catch a cold, which is lead to whitecough and greencough so be careful. After your dog catches a cold, don't send them out for 2 posts or their cold will progress to whitecough or greencough. The sun will start to go down early and it will get colder once the sun starts to go down. You will also catch less prey and are more likely to find new dogs trying to hide from the cold.
— Possible frostbite if sent out of camp too much
— Blizzards may occur, and can disrupt hunting and gathering.
— Predators are more dangerous and will attack, also other dogs will be more aggressive due to lack of prey
— Hunters are after waterfowl, fox, or goats this season. More guns and traps.
Spring - During spring, pup-birthing will run much smoother and the chances of the pup-mothers or pups dying during birth will go down dramatically. There is also a higher chance of you catch more prey than usual. The chances of catching greencough, whitecough and puppycough will go down. With all the snow melting, it is very likely that your territory will start flooding. There will also be more storms that will contribute to the flooding. The odds of finding new dogs is very high.
— Some predators are waking up from hibernation to an empty stomach, they are more active during this time. Bears are more likely to be seen.
— Bird hunters; dove, turkey, etc. Guns mostly present along with occasional bird dog ex: setters, retrievers etc
Summer - During summer, you will catch a max of 6 pieces of prey. During patrols, you are more likely to run into humans and their dogs, and bandit groups will most likely start to try and settle on your territory so keep an eye out. You are still likely to get floods, but there will be more droughts towards the middle of summer. Your kennel will still receive new dogs but not as much as you would in spring.
— Loners/rogues escaping heat? Most likely to be seen at water sources or cooled areas.
— Dogs are more susceptible to having heat-related illnesses, and they tire out easier, making some hunting patrols fail due to exhaustion. If experiencing overexertion, this may trigger the canine to have a heat stroke, especially when it’s in high degrees.
— Campers, campers, campers! Lots of children and “tourists” present in many territories, mainly forests and plains.
Fall - During fall, it will start to get colder so the amount of prey you will catch will go down. The sun will start going down earlier and earlier and this will continue into winter. pup-birthings will start to get a little bit harder so make sure to stock up on pupping herbs like fennel, chervil, ragwort leaves and raspberry leaves. You will also run into foxes and possibly badgers more. Herbs are starting to wilt and prey is starting to leave, so it will be harder to find both.
— Lots of hunters. Big game season - deer, bear, boar. Lots of traps, arrows, guns, hunting cameras, blinds, essentially anything that you can associate with hunting
— Higher chance of catching prey like deer and boar
— Predators become more desperate to catch food and become a much larger threat to the safety of the kennels
𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓
xxxAfter your first post, you will use the following format in every post to keep track of your kennel. Replace the "link" in the URL with the image of your dog. The coding can be altered as dramatically as you wish, though it should still keep the key information that is provided in the formatting. Information such as medicine storage, deceased dogs, and other extras may be listed elsewhere, but they must be linked in your posts so that the information is readily available to your mod. Please keep an updated and accurate track of your kennel's resources, and remember to always age your dogs up each post! Also, here is a guide on how to format your "actions log" for your posts, and what they should include.

You may choose any prey items listed below, or custom items of your own that follow the basic guidelines. You may have a maximum of 10 prey items available. You may not have more than 10 prey items for it becomes too excessive. The Alano’s pawpads swept across the sun-baked earth, billowing a cloud of dust behind. His dark fur shone with perspiration, and his tongue lolled from his parted lips, his breaths coming in quick and hard. As his chest heaved with each breath, he kept his head low, nose to the ground, and ears perked in alert──no matter the heat of the day, he was prepared for whatever could spring from the bushes he tread beside.
But it was silent, and not a sound could be heard; only the stillness of the dry landscape, offering little comfort or ease for the Cerberus. The hours of daylight went on from then, and as the sun beaming into the sky lowered to the horizon, Jericho had something he could call worth-it──food. Gripped between his jaws, the limp carcass of a roadrunner dangled, swinging with his gait. Its blood teased the brute, sent his stomach into a fury, however he knew to resist the temptation. Now was the time to act calculated, smart, rather than barbarous, focusing only on his own survival. At some point along this journey he’d set himself upon, there will be others which rely on his skill to survive, and food being one of them. Hunting among the shrubland was nearly impossible, and one cannot be impatient or they will lose any chance of surviving another night. For, as Jericho had learned many moons ago, in this terrain, patience and resistance is key.
He returned back to camp just in time to watch the sun peek its final sliver over the horizon, then disappear beneath it, ridding the land of its light. The arid shrubland became dark, pitch-black, and the male himself blended perfectly. After a bit of rest, a quick snack, and a stretch, Jericho was off-again for his patrol.
Patrolling was mainly done during the evening hours, and this being because the daytime becomes extremely unbearable with the heat and dryness. In the dark, a long trek throughout the territory became more bearable, and much easier to deter unwanted visitors, or trespassers. Coyotes were the most common, and the dog’s sworn enemy──they are ruthless, mangy creatures with their only intent to kill, even for no reason other than they “felt like it”. With little tolerance for competitors, and a strong sense of smell when it comes to tracking-down prey, especially those which has been stored for later use, they are a nasty and tricky opponent. Living his entire life among the shrubland alongside the coyotes and their infestations, Jericho has grown this fond hatred for them──after watching them, from time and time again, ruining the lives of his friends and family, he can attest to this.
However, along this particular night’s patrol, he encountered something much other than a coyote. The Alano lowered his nose to the ground, catching the scent of his last marking, and following the ridge of his territory’s border. He continued along like this for awhile, returning to his normal spots and ensuring their scents were still strong. It was as he reached the furthest marking that he caught the scent of another dog, and it was fresh. They had to be nearby, merely minutes ago, for a scent that fresh had to have been here recently. Jericho’s frame stiffened in alert, and as he rose his head from the ground and scanned the open area, he spotted the captor of such scent.
Only a few yards away, the red-furred form of a sleek canine came bolting, at increasing speeds, right toward him. He jolted back in surprise as the runner darted right past, having not spotted him, and then halted once more. They turn, cautiously, ears perked-up in alert as they finally spot the dog they’d just sprinted past without even noticing.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there.” They chuckle nervously, ears swiveling to and fro. Jericho, after taking a moment to compose himself, breaks-out a chuckle of his own, rumbling from his chest. “You were going so fast you didn’t even see me, huh?” He responded.
The slender dog dipped their head in embarrassment, letting out a sigh. “Huh, yea, sorry about that.”
“No worries.” The male responds, smirking lightly as he sweeps his eyes over the female’s form. “Just be careful whose territory your racing through, they may not be so friendly.”
“Is this your territory?” She questions with a tip of her head, watching him curiously. Jericho nods, slowly lowering himself onto his haunches, then glancing to his side. “Yes, here and throughout much of this area.” The female nodded and scanned the terrain surrounding, hardly spotting anything in the darkness, but taking it in all the same.
“How about we get out of the open? It’s too dark to be sitting unprotected, especially in these parts.” He offers, standing once more as he meets her gaze. She hesitates only for a moment, then smiles with a nod. “That does seem like a good idea.” She chuckles, shaking her head lightly.
“So, what can I call you?” The female asks before the brute has a chance to fully rise. “Oh, my name is Jericho.” He responds, pausing briefly. “And how about you?”
“Vega.” She replies, smiling lightly, then takes to following close behind as the Cerberus leads them back to camp, where the female would later decide to stay and join alongside the Hounds of Hell.

“Lets keep going, Sonto.” Dara whined, nudging her brother’s shoulder with her dried nose. The hound let out a yawn, glancing toward his sister, then sighed. “We should wait until later on, Dara, you know this──we’d literally bake in the sun if we go out now.”
She whined once more, turning herself in a circle and then dropped onto the ground, lying with her back to the other dog in her company. “I know, it’s just…” She shook her head, glancing outside of the small cave. “I feel like we should’ve kept on going.”
Sonto drew himself closer and laid his head over his sister’s back, glancing upward into her eyes as she scans the darkness. “If you lay your head down and rest, before you know it, it’ll be time to go again.” Dara smiled warmly, turning to look down at her brother, then nodded and laid her head between her paws. Just as her brother had said, the female went right to sleep within seconds, breathing soundly.
By the time the pair awoke once more, the sun was low on the horizon and the air was noticeably cooler. Sonto was awake to nudge his sister and crawled over her still form to reach the outside. Dara wasn’t far behind, springing up from her spot with a quick yawn, following her brother’s steps. “Where to tonight?” Sonto questioned, but rather than getting a response, the female silently went along and he followed at her flank. “Dara?”
“I don’t really know.” She responded, ears perked in alert. “This way just… feels right to me.”
“Wait a second, it just “feels right”? Do you remember what happened the last time we went with that initiative?”
“Yea, okay, that was one time Sonto.”
“One time my ass.”
“Hey, watch it!”
“Pfff-”
“Will you two stop bickering?”
Suddenly, the pair swung around to face the voice behind them, which revealed to be a dark-pelted brute. He was rather tall, and his muscles where built, toned beneath the skin. Immediately Sonto tensed, and Dara too.
"Sorry, didn’t mean to break your fun.” The stranger chuckled, shaking his head lightly. He glanced from one to the other, almost in a fatherly way. He did look mature, of his age, but still they couldn’t be sure. Nonetheless, he seemed friendly, and none of his advances had yet to be aggressive.
"Ha, sorry you had to witness that.” Dara piped-up, earning a glare from her brother. “Just some sibling-love here.”
The brute nodded, smiling gently. “My brothers and I were all the same, but maybe a tad-bit more annoying.” The two them laughed together in unison, Sonto even taking the moment to ease his tension and relax, laughing along with them.
“So what are you two doing out here alone, huh?” He questioned calmly, glancing toward the horizon as the sun began to rise, turning the sky into an array of fascinating colors. Dara glanced toward Sonto, and as they dipped their heads, the male returned to attention as he watched the brother respond. “Our former group was disbanded, and for what reasons we still don’t really know.” He sighed quietly. “Dara and I made it out together, but the others? Not so sure.” Sonto’s voice was heavy, weighed with emotion, however he swallowed to keep it back and locked in his chest. The dark-pelted dog nodded, dipped his head, and murmured his apologies to the pair. Dara smiled gently, already calm in his presence, and Sonto returned the same.
“Would you happen to be on the market for a new home?” They questioned, lowering their head as they watched the siblings together. Taken-aback by his question, Sonto glanced toward his sister, finding her eager to reply. Once she gained a nod from her brother, she opened her mouth to reply. “Yes, I believe we are.”
Smiling gently, the larger canine rose and bowed his head in thanks. “Well then, if you're ready, you can follow me.” And that they did.
