Before you read through this ‘How To Play’ section, welcome to Create a Glaring, the domain of big cats! To begin playing the game if it is your first time positing, tell me about your Glaring! It can be as descriptive as you want, but make sure it includes at least all of the following basics:

indent— appearance, such as breeds of big cats
indentbreeds can be found down at the ‘big cat breeds’ section!

After you have made and posted your Glaring’s starting post, we will re-quote your post with an image of your founding leader! You can decide on things such as their name, age, and gender.
For those who have been active members of Create a Garing and have at least 20 posts, you are permitted to create a second Glaring. While optional, you still have to take care of both Glarings. You are not allowed to trade between your two Glarings (i.e. giving one of your Glaring’s prey or herbs or cats from the other Glaring). When restarting, you may either take six cats from the restarted Glaring to the new one, or take six cats from the restarted Glaring to your other established Glaring.

𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐒

Without more cats, your Glaring will struggle to survive. And as such, they can be found on patrols, celestial requests, re-adoptions, and events. You may choose their name, age, gender, rank, and background unless specific rules apply.
Patrols encountering other cats are frequent early in game play, however, as you advance, these occurrences will become less common. Some event cats can even guarantee the patrols will find a cat, or even a certain type of cat.

𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐂𝐀𝐓 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐒

When making your starting post, please include what breeds can be found in your Glaring. It will not guarantee you may get that breed, though we will try and make sure that the majority of your cats are those breeds. Some examples of big cat breeds are as follows:
indentbobcats, lynx, ocelots, cougars, jaguars, jaguarundis, severals, panthers, tigers, leopards, snow leopard, cheetah, and lions.

𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐒

You are able to send six cats out on a patrol at one time until you reach 40 cats. There are a few things that can happen on patrols: you can catch/find prey, you can find/chase off a threat, you can find a cat at the border. You will often find Warriors more than anything on patrols, but you can also find Littlepaws, Elders, Kit-Mothers, or Kits.
Once you reach 40 cats, you can send 8 cats out on a hunt or border patrol, which then allows you to hunt and catch prey that is over 6 servings. But keep in mind, it becomes more dangerous, and cats can be injured or even killed, so be careful who you send out.

𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒

Without offspring, your Glaring will struggle to survive. So in order for two cats to become mates, post two cats going on a walk together, and one asking the other to become their mate. Your mod will then reply, stating that the female is expecting kits, or she isn’t. If she is expecting kits, the female will be due in 2 moons. After two moons, or posts, she will then go into labor and have her kits. If you wish for the female not to have kits yet, make sure to mention that in your post. There must be at least 3-4 moons/posts of rest before she is able to get pregnant again.

𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆/𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇

You must age your cats up 1 month every post that you post. If you have a Littlepaw who is five moons old in one post, then the next time you post they will be six moons old. In this game, there are only a few ways for your cats to die: being born stillborn, old age, being attacked by a predator/another cat/bigger prey, kit-mothers can die having kits, or not having your injuries treated within two moons/posts of your cats getting injured or sick.

𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐒/𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐒

The shaman is perhaps one of the most crucial parts of your Glaring, because they can heal sick or injured cats using herbs. When you find your Shaman, you can choose 5 herbs to start your herb storage. When you send your Shaman out to gather herbs, they can only find 2 per post. Once they have a Littlepaw, they can find 3 per post. You store your herbs in your herb storage, and they can be used to heal sick or injured cats. Shamans must be present with sick or injured dogs and birthing mothers - not being present holds a very high risk of death. That means, when assisting a sick or injured dog or birthing mother, they may not go out to gather herbs. You can find a full list of herbs and their usages here.

𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆/𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒

You will be the one to assign a certain mentor to a Littlepaw. In order to become a Warrior, they must complete 4 training sessions and must be at least 12 moons old. Your Littlepaw may or may not learn a new ‘move’ during a training session, and moves may vary from Glaring to Glaring.

𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒/𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐄𝐒

Allies and Enemies may be found by communicating with another member of Create a Glaring. Your Glarings can also border each other if you wish. Allies may also trade with one another, or give prey and herbs to assist each other as well.

𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐘

Every post, your Glaring will use up two pieces of food. Once you reach seven members, your serving will go up 1. Then the next time you get seven more, your serving will go up by one again. The max amount of cats you can send out on a hunting patrol is 6 cats; for every 2 cats on the patrol, you can get one piece of prey, so the max amount of prey you can get from one hunting patrol is 3 pieces of prey. In the winter and fall you are more likely to get less, even if you have brought six cats you might only get let's say, two mice on your hunt. You can use six or more types of prey. An example of a set would be; mice, pigeons, voles, rabbits, deer, chicken and squirrels. There must be at least one prey item that is one serving. You can switch out the different types of prey depending on what is normally found in your Glaring’s territory but don't make it a type of prey that cats wouldn't normally eat. When you fill in your form after receiving your Chieftain, remember to fill in the six types of prey your Glaring will be using (you may use more, just don't go overboard). Very rarely, the mod who replies to your Glaring will give you something outside of those six+. Remember to go hunting often since two pieces are used every post. If you run out of fresh-kill, you have 2 posts to get enough prey back. After 2 posts, a cat in your Glaring will die from starvation. Every post after that, 1 cat will die until you catch enough prey.

𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒

Each season will last one month, each season having one gathering. After the gathering starts, a new season will start, going in order from Leafbare to Leaf-Fall. When your mod replies to your post, the mod will write what type of weather your Glaring has for that day, which will ultimately effect how things go for you that day. Your territory will effect the disasters that occur in your clan. Deserts are more likely to have droughts, mountains are more likely to have storms, oceans are more likely to have human-made disasters like oil or chemical spills and grasslands are more likely to have storms, flood and/or droughts. Forests with water sources are more likely to have fires or floods, depending on how far the clan's camp is from their water sources, while forests without water sources are more likely to have fires or droughts.

Leafbare- The Season of Winter. During leafbare, the chances of catching greencough is higher. If you send the same cat out multiple times in the same post, they are more likely to catch a cold, which is lead to whitecough and greencough so be careful. After your cat catches a cold, don't send them out for 2 posts or their cold will progress to whitecough or greencough. The sun will start to go down early and it will get colder once the sun starts to go down. You will also catch less prey and are less likely to find new cats.

Newleaf- The Season of Spring. During newleaf, kittings will run much smoother and the chances of the kit-mothers or kits dying during birth will go down dramatically. There is also a higher chance of you catch more prey than usual. The chances of catching greencough, whitecough and kittencough will go down. With all the snow melting, it is very likely that your territory will start flooding. There will also be more storms that will contribute to the flooding. The odds of finding new cats is very high.

Greenleaf- The Season of Summer. During greenleaf, you will catch a max of 6 pieces of prey. During patrols, you are more likely to run into twolegs and their dogs, and rogue groups will most likely start to try and settle on your territory so keep an eye out. You are still likely to get floods, but there will be more droughts towards the middle of Greenleaf. The cats in your Glaring can get dehydrated easier during greenelaf than they would in other seasons. Your Glaring will still receive new cats but not as much as you would in Newleaf.

Leaf-Fall- The Season of Fall. During leaf-fall, it will start to get colder so the amount of prey you will catch will go down. The sun will start going down earlier and earlier and this will continue into Leafbare. Kittings will start to get a little bit harder so make sure to stock up on kitting herbs like fennel, chervil, ragwort leaves and raspberry leaves. You will also run into predators more.

However, they do have to deal with alligators and crocodiles. Common breeds found there are lions, leopards, jaguars, cougars, and fishing cats. Any and all breeds are accepted to join, however.

Prey commonly found includes:

Salamanders

The Whispering Willows is well known for their fierce loyalty and peaceful nature. They prefer peace over fighting and will often find a peaceful solution. However do not let their docile nature fool you for they are also fierce fighters. The Territory
is mostly woods with a large beautiful lake at the heart of it. Down by the lake is a large peninsula island with a large old willow tree that looms over part of the water. Here is where the glaring has set up camp. It's the most secured spot in their territory with only one way to get down to the glaring's camp. This gives them a good advantage to see if an attack is coming.

Ranks remain the same, however instead of being called Chieftain, the lead cat is call king.
Prey includes: Mice, Rabbits, Small fish, Big fish, Birds, Deer, and Boar
