What many a goat don't know is that their species dominated the land hundreds of years ago. Groves of Goats roamed around the world - until the humans (better known as Milkers) came along. They succeeded in capturing and using most of the wild goats, and the few small groves left scattered. For many cycles, the Milkers had obtained 'ownership' of goats, and they soon forgot their wild heritage. However, the ancestors of these Groves were dying, being forgotten. As a plea of help, the remaining members of the Star Fields sent out a cry of help to the most wild, hardy, and determined, or just plain adventurous goats. Suddenly, the Stars were waking. Groves were reforming. Now will you be a part of this movement? Or will you be content to stay in your pasture, simply wishing for what lays beyond?

1) Follow all the Chickensmoothie rules. 2) Do not try to copy, remake, or make a similar game without permission from Katrione. This includes taking these games offsite. Additionally, I, Legolas The Elf, will remake this game after 400 pages. 3) Please proper grammar and punctuation; text talk is not allowed. 4) Do not quote your post unless it has been skipped over by a mod. 5) Do not mini-mod unless you are staff. 6) You can't adopt goats from other users if you have bans, warnings, or strikes. 7) Three warnings earns you one strike. Three strikes is a temporary ban. Another strike is a permanent ban. Plagiarizing or spreading rumors/talking badly about this game or its members will result in an immediate and permanent ban from all Create-A Games.
8) You may make custom ranks as long as they fit the original skeleton ranks and CS rules (excluding changing the names of existing ranks). And don't copy other members' custom ranks unless you have screen-shotted permission. Also, don't make an excessive amount of ranks. If you have more than twelve ranks, I will message you in order to help you downsize your ranks. 9) You may only trade fivegoats for every time your mod replies to you on the game thread. First, you make a post. While you wait for your mod to post, you may give and receive a maximum of five goats. Once your mod has replied, you may give and receive five more goats. 10) The functions of the game have been listed below. If you do not follow them, a mod will PM you first to help you understand the rules. If you ignore the mod, you will be given a warning which can lead to strikes and a ban. 11) If you are found to be double-accounting in order to play this game, the CAG staff will report you to CS staff and will permanently ban you from all Create-A-Games.

How to Play Guide

Postby eel. » Sat Jan 05, 2019 8:17 am

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Starting Off:
Hello you, and welcome to CaG (Create a Grove!) In case you were wondering, a Grove is a group of goats. Anyways, with that out of the way, the first thing you should do when you get here is read the rules and information above. After you do that, come back here and read the entire How to Play section, even if you know how the basic Create-A-Game works. If you still have questions, feel free to PM me or a mod, or post your question on the Fanclub c:.
Now that you have submerged yourself into the world of CaG, you need to start your Grove! To begin, you will write a description on this thread of your grove. This description can be as detailed as you would like, or you can make it simple and quick, as long as it meets the said requirements. Here are a few things you should take into consideration when you create your kennel; Where do they Live? How do they Speak to their Ancestors? Do they have a religion? Gods? Where do they forage? What is their reputation outside the Grove? Inside the Grove? Etc.
Once your Grove description is completed, post it on this thread and wait for a moderator to accept your Grove and give you its Founder, your Captain (or the equivalent rank). If you would like, you can also request a specific leader of your choosing by linking an image of a goat with your starting post. I will then assign you your own mod, of whom will then roll for the fates of your goats each post, and cause quite the adventure to arise. Continue reading to discover all of the aspects of playing CaG.
After you have written 30 posts with text, that was thought out and meaningful, you may create a second Grove. This Grove, along with your first, must be looked after. You are not allowed to ally, enemy, trade goats between, border, or interact with your two Groves. If you choose to restart a Grove, either you or a mod of your choice will readopt your goats on the Fanclub. You may keep up to 5 goats of your old Grove when you readopt. If you have a second Grove and disband your old one, your other Grove CAN NOT accept any of your old Goats, sorry. Extra: If you want custom prey or predators, make sure to put them in your starting post!
You will get 4 fasting posts to gather food (posts without eating).

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Getting More Goats:
Well, you can't have a Grove without some goats! Goats can be earned through readoptions, raffles, ancestor requests, patrols, and events. You are allowed to specify name, gender, age, and rank unless specifically told otherwise.
You can get a goat from a readoption if someone holds one after they disband a Grove or send some goats away. There are usually requirements, such as take only 2, your Grove must have 30 or less goats, and the code-words is icicle or something along those lines. The rules may also state you may not change the name or gender.
You can git a goat from a raffle by pure luck. A mod will hold a raffle, usually around a Holiday, to win a goat or goats. This method is pretty simple.
Patrols encountering goats without Groves tend to be very common early in game play, when you have few goats in your Grove. However, as you advance and get more Goats, these occurrences will become less common. If your patrol does encounter a dog it will most likely be an Trooper, but every now then they will come across a Caretaker, Senior, Tyro, or Kid if your Grove has a nursing Caretaker or the kid is old enough not to drink milk.
Ancestor requests can be made every two cycles. This allows your Captain to request a Goat of any open rank.
Event goats are usually thrown out in the Fanclub alongside a raffle. These goats usually have special powers that can help you Grove. However, when they use their power, some have a small chance of death.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Goat Breeds:
This is just a quick note that any goat breed - from the flop-eared Boer Goat to the Tiny Pygmy Goat to the shaggiest Pygora Goat - are allowed. Many of them look the same, but some have special features, which is why I'm putting this here.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Patrols:
Starting off your Grove, you will have four patrols available - for foraging and borders. Six goats may go out on a patrol at a time. Once your Grove hits 30 goats, 8 may be allowed on a patrol. When you hit 50 goats, you gain an extra patrol. 75 goats - 10 goats per patrol. 100 goats? You get 2 extra patrols, giving you a total of 7 at that point.
The two types of patrols are border patrols and foraging patrols. In a border patrol, your selected goats will patrol the borders of your territory and may find a threat, the scent of a threat, or a goat. As said earlier, goat found on a border patrol will likely be a Trooper, with the possibility of being a Caretaker, Senior, or Tyro. A foraging patrol will get you food for your Goats. On a border patrol, you may also find a rival Grove leader and speak to them. You can become allies, enemies, borders, or just stay neutral. This is optional, and won't happen unless requested.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Ranks:
The Captain is the goat who leads your Grove; some other common terms might be a leader or alpha. This goat oversees the Grove and is the one that makes Ancestor Requests. You must have a Captain or Captains of some sort in your Grove. The Captain also recieves 5 lives.
The Lieutenant is the goat that is second-in-command to the Captain; some other common terms might be deputy or beta. This goat would normally organize patrols and become the next Captain when the current one dies, retires, or steps down. Other then those duties, they act as a normal trooper. You do not need a Lieutenant rank, but will them need to figure out who will be your next Captain.
The Shaman is the goat that learns about herbs and healing, and typically has strong connection to The Ancestors; some other common terms might be healer, medic, or medicine-goat. This Goat will usually go out herb hunting to find plants to heal their Grovemates. They may talk to the Ancestors but cannot request a goat. You must have a Shaman or Shamans of some sort. There is no rule in Groves saying Shamans can't have kids.
Troopers are goats who patrol and forage, and protect the Grove against enemies; some other common terms might be warrior, subordinate, or ironteeth. These goats can be mentors to Tyros, and are probably one of the most likely to get killed. You must have a Trooper Rank of some sort.
Tyros are goats between the age of 6 and 12 cycles learning to become Troopers or Shamans; some other common terms might be apprentice or tenderpaw. It is the responsibility of these goats to learn to be the best Troopers/Shamans they can be, so someday they may be depended on as a trustworthy Trooper/Shaman. You must have a Tyro rank of some sort.
Caretakers are the goats who are either expecting or nursing kids (baby goats); some other common terms might include queens or kid-mothers. These goats are vital to the Grove because they provide kids, who will one day become Tyros, then Troopers or Shamans. You must have a Caretaker rank of some kind.
Kids are literally baby goats; there are no other common terms. These goats are important, not only because they are incredibly cute, but because one day they will become Troopers and/or Shamans, and will need to help their Grove. You must have a Kid rank of some kind.
Seniors are the old, retired goats; those who have given their service to the Grove and now have moons of rest; some other common terms include elder..and, well elder. These goats are important because they tech Kids about the Grove religion and tell them stories of the old, kind of like exaggerated teachers. You do not need a Senior rank.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Ranking Up:
Kids, or your Grove's equivalent, must be no younger than 6 cycles when they become Tyros (or your equivalent rank). Troopers or Shamans (or your equivalent ranks) must be at least 12 cycles. You may have goats that take longer to rank up if you wish. Tyros have to pass an assessment to move from Tyro to Trooper/Shaman. You may change what they do to fit your Grove's ranks and religion better, but whether they pass or fail is up to your mod. Another option would be to have your Captain announce the Tyro's ranking up at their next Ancestor Request. This will automatically have the Tyro pass their assessment if they are at least 12 cycles. You are allowed to switch out the ranks that are normally in Groves with your own custom ones but you must have someone who does the equivalent of what the basic ranks already do. If you use custom ranks that someone already has, make sure they are alright with you using their ranks.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Healing, Herbs, and Shamans:
When you receive your Shaman or goat of an equivalent rank, you will now have the power to heal injured or sick goats - but you still need herbs. Herbs each have certain properties from helping with birthing to curing coughs or easing sore joints. When you receive your Shaman, you may pick 5 herbs to start out with - 1 of each. You can then send your Shaman out herb gathering each post to stock up on resources. A Shaman may find up to 2 herbs on a patrol. If they have a Tyro, and both go herb hunting, they may find up to three. All the herbs and their uses will come from the warrior cats wiki.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Mentors and Training:
When a Kid reaches the age of 6 cycles, it will become a Tyro. This goat will be given a mentor (by you) and train for the next 6 cycles of it's life (until it is 12 cycles old). That is the bare minimum - the can train longer. The Tyro will then take an assessment to become a full Trooper or Shaman. If they pass, they rank up! If they fail, you can either train them more or just wait until the next moon to try again. To be able to take their warrior assessment, they must have learned at least 3 skills successfully. Skills can be vague or you can specify - it doesn't matter. You can send a Shaman Tyro to train with Trooper Tyros, but this is not necessary. And remember - the mod and RNG determine if your Tyro fails or passes their assessment.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Aging And Death
Goats can usually live to be 15 to 18 years old (180-216 cycles). Every time you post, you must age your goats up 1 cycle (a month/moon). Say you have a trooper who is 87 cycles old. Next post, they would be 88 cycles old, continuing on. There are 5 ways for your goat to die - not having injuries/illness treated within three posts, old age, predators, being still born, and Caretakers can die birthing.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Allies and Enemies
As stated earlier, if you would want, you could meet the Captain of another Grove on patrol. You can choose to become allies with this Captain's Grove. This means your Groves would have a friendly and positive relationship, and any misunderstandings or disagreements would most likely be solved peacefully. You can trade herbs with allies - say you both have something the other doesn't. You may also trade goats, but only at a gathering, and only if you both are there. If you are under attack, your ally may defend you unless your attackers are their ally. This would decrease the risk of your goats dying or getting seriously injured. Allies are not necessary, but could be helpful in the long run.
As stated earlier, if you would want, you could meet the Captain of another Grove on patrol. You can choose to become enemies with this Captain's Grove. This means your Groves would have a hostile and negative relationship, and any misunderstandings or disagreements would be solved by fighting. You can steal kids, Tyros, Seniors, and herbs while raiding enemy Grove's camp. You need 5 goats to do this and the only way to get these goats/herbs back is if you attack their Grove. Attacks can prove fatal and there will often be injured, captured or even killed casualties during attacks. However, you must have permission from the other user before stealing or killing their goats. You can make peace and become allies with an enemy Grove later on.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Becoming Mates/Having Kids
Kids are the very basis of your Grove! Without them, no one would be able to become a mentor, as there are no growing goats to train. The Grove would dwindle without new members, and the Kids will make goof Troopers/Shamans one day. And to have Kids, you need mates. To have goats become mates, post them going on a walk and asking each other to become mates, or just asking. To try for a kid or kids, you must post that Goat 1 and Goat 2 are trying for kits. You will need to wait three posts for your kids to appear. Two where the Caretaker carries the kid(s), then when while she gives birth. There is a chance of having stillborns, or a kid or the mother dying, which is higher in Leaf-Season and Ice-Season. Goats typically have 1-3 kids. Two goats can try for kids without becoming mates. Just post that they try for kids without becoming mates.
Create a Grove is LGBTQA+, meaning your goats can have any sexuality. A lesbian pair, for example, can adopt a kid, or have a surrogate, etc. Any hatred towards this community will result in bans or strikes.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Forbidden Romances:
Yep, that type of romance - cross Grove. A Forbidden Romance is a relationship more then friends with a goat from another grove. Forbidden Romance is not Goat to Shamans, as they are allowed to have kids. A Shaman with a goat from another Grove though would be forbidden. If the pair ends up having Kids, most of the time they will be split between 2 Groves, and the parents would say they were found in the woods or find a goat willing to cover as their other parent. Rarely, even if a goat finds out about a Forbidden Romance, will the kids and/or parents be exiled. Forbidden Romances can be short flings or life-time devotion, you choose. I also believe in the rule that, if there is an odd number of kids, the Grove with the mother gets the most. If there are eve, each Grove gets the same amount.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Religion:
Just as the basic beliefs are in the Star Fields and Dark Vineyard, many people may like to create their own religion for their Grove, or base it off a modern or archaic one. This is a feature that is definitely not necessary, but recomended as it adds more depth to your Grove.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Food:

Food! Every single goat needs that to survive.
So, every post, 1 cycle, your Grove will need to
consume a designated amount of food servings.
This amount will differ as your Grove grows. Every
7 goats you recieve, your amount of servings
needed goes up by 1. The next time you get 7
more goats, you go up by 1 again, etc. The max
amount of goats you can send out to forage (find
food) is 6. If you send 1-3 goats on a patrol, you're
more likely to find food that is 1-2 servings. If you
have 4-6 goats on a patrol, you're more likely to
catch prey that is 2-3 servings. You can use six types
of food. An example of a set would be; Small shrubs,
large shrubs, black berries, raspberries, oak leaves
and maple leaves. You can switch out the different
types of food depending on what is normally found
in your Grove's territory but don't make it a type of
food that goats wouldn't normally eat (even though
they eat everything, keep it healthy). When you fill
in your form after receiving your Captain, remember
to fill in the six types of food your Grove will be using.
Very rarely, the mod who replies to your Grove will
give you something outside of those six. If you run out
of food, you have 2 posts to get enough food back.
After 2 posts, the youngest goat in your Grove will
die from starvation. Every post after that, 1 goat will
die until you forage enough food.
Food and Servings:
Milker Garbage | 1 serving
Tree Bark | 1 serving
Mini Shrubs | 1 serving
Leaf Litter | 1 serving
Grass | 1 serving
Blackberries | 2 servings
Raspberries | 2 servings
Blueberries | 2 servings
Small Shrubs | 2 servings
Oak Leaves | 2 servings
Pine Nettles | 2 servings
Maple Leaves | 3 servings
Large Shrubs | 3 servings
Elm Leaves | 3 servings
Sycamore Leaves | 4 servings
Servings per # of Goats:
0-6 goats: 2 servings
7-13 goats; 3 servings
14-20 goats; 4 servings
21-27 goats; 5 servings
28-34 goats; 6 servings
35-41 goats; 7 servings
42-48 goats; 8 servings
49-55 goats; 9 servings
56-62 goats; 10 servings
63-69 goats; 11 servings
70-76 goats; 12 servings
etc.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Seasons:
Each season will last four replies (4 months; about the length of a season). When your mod replies to your post, the mod will write what type of weather and season your Clan has for that day, which will ultimately effect how things go for you that day. Your territory will effect the disasters that occur in your clan. Deserts are more likely to have droughts, mountains are more likely to have storms, oceans are more likely to have human-made disasters like oil or chemical spills and grasslands are more likely to have storms, flood and/or droughts. Forests with water sources are more likely to have fires or floods, depending on how far the clan's camp is from their water sources, while forests without water sources are more likely to have fires or droughts. Seasons can also affect Birthing Roles and infuriate diseases if a goat has any.

Blossom-Season - Spring. In this season, the cold weather starts to fade away - all the bare trees will start blossoming, and near the end of Blossom-Season, bloom, and green leaves will be everywhere. Snow turns to rain, and this does bring a higher chance of flood and storms - but also a new wave of goats to find while escaping floods. With all the new life, herbs will be plentiful again, food will return, and the birthing fatality rate will go down. The chances of catching whitecough, greencough, and kidcough go down.
Sun-Season - Summer. In this season, the cold weather is completely gone, and it's getting hotter. All the trees have leaves now, and provide shade where goat could take a rest. The rain will come down harder but less often, though the chance of fires and drought is higher. You will still be getting a lot of goats, just not as many. As the season goes on, herbs may start to wilt in the heat, but not wither away completely. The chances of catching a disease are almost impossible.
Leaf-Season - Autumn. Cool winds will start to blow and chill will bite the air with a posibility of frost. All the trees will be turning red, yellow, orange, and brown - and falling onto the ground. This does mean leaf litter will be a very common occurance to find when foraging. Rain will happen with much less force, and early snows may be expected. Drought and flood chances will go down by tenfold. Goats being found by a patrol becomes less common, and food will start frosting, so collect as much as you can, and quick. The same applies for herbs. The chances of catching a disease or cold go up.
Ice-Season - Winter. Cold weather will ensue. The trees, save for evergreens, will be bare, and the chances of finding leaf food items will be rare. Snow will come from the sky instead of rain, and the chance of a blizzard goes up. Finding a goat on a patrol will me minimum. The possibility of finding many herbs is at its lowest as well. The chances of catching a cold and disease are high, so make sure a goat only heads out once per post on a patrol.

      >> tiny hooves grove, like the name suggests, is made up of small goat species such as pygmy goats, fainting goats, and nigerian dwarf goats.

      >> their territory is in an oak forest, and their camp is in a sheltered hollow, surrounded by raspberry bushes.

      >> the goats of tiny hooves grove are very sweet & gentle. they prioritize kids, caretakers and tyros above all other goats.

      >> outside of the grove, nobody really knows much about it, as it is a new grove.

Re: Create a Grove - { Vs. 1 }

- The Camp. The Circadom (Pronounced sur-sah-dum) lives in an a circus tent. It has obviously been long-since abandoned. Props and day-to-day things are scattered everywhere, as if the former occupants needed to leave suddenly. Colors have dulled. Metal has rusted. Mice skitter around in the shadows. One of the stages has collasped inwards. The wind whistles through small gaps in the tent. But it is warm, wind-resistant, and large - quite a good fit for a Grove of goats!

- The Territory. The Tent (as the camp is called) sits next to a long-since rotted wooden fence, with enough missing bars for goats to slip through. This leads to a huge, blue barn, empty but for the still-standing stables and a few stalks of hey. This is a private plce to chat or to rest if the Tent gets to crowded, hot, or just overall stuffy. The Territory also houses a beach, part of a forest, and abandoned village, and many small streams and rivers. The forest and overgrown gardens of the barn and abandoned village are the main foraging points, and the freshwater streams and rain puddles, drinking points. The Northern part of the territory is a sunny, sandy, beach, with pebbles, willows, tall grass, and crabs - and the ocean. This is the northern border. The end of the pastures of the farm is the western border, the mountains cut off the southern border, and a huge river running through the center of the forest makes the eastern border.

- The 'Moonpool'. The Circadom equivalent of this is when the Ringleader steps outside the Tent and stares at the reflective Silver Ball on top. They fall into a trance and find themselves in The Bright Forest (The equivalent of Star Fields). They may then speak to The Ancestors.

- They are seen as stern scholars, always the most fond and protective of Students, Tyros, Kids, and Seniors
- They are pretty much as their outside rep. suggests, but have a close-knit family bond as well

- Their religion is slightly different from that of another Grove. They believe in Gods that guide their life through Ancestors, but these Gods can be 'Good', 'Bad', or 'Neutral'. Good gods live in the Bright Forest, Neutral move around, and the bad in the Abandoned Vineyard

GODS/GODDESSES:

Season
B L O S S O M - S E A S O N
In this season, the cold weather starts to fade away - all the bare trees will start blossoming, and near the end of Blossom-Season, bloom, and green leaves will be everywhere. Snow turns to rain, and this does bring a higher chance of flood and storms - but also a new wave of goats to find while escaping floods. With all the new life, herbs will be plentiful again, food will return, and the birthing fatality rate will go down. The chances of catching whitecough, greencough, and kidcough go down.

      >> tiny hooves grove, like the name suggests, is made up of small goat species such as pygmy goats, fainting goats, and nigerian dwarf goats.

      >> their territory is in an oak forest, and their camp is in a sheltered hollow, surrounded by raspberry bushes.

      >> the goats of tiny hooves grove are very sweet & gentle. they prioritize kids, caretakers and tyros above all other goats.

      >> outside of the grove, nobody really knows much about it, as it is a new grove.

      >> pure goats go to the endless plains after death. there, the celestial gods rule kindly.
      - kiani, goddess of the earth
      - pulewa, god of weather
      - vertai, god of the sky
      - lulemis, goddess of the moon
      - solellos, god of the sky
      - coasa, minor goddess of hope and love
      - braixo, minor god of luck and safe passage
      - axcari, minor god of happiness

      >> they speak to their gods at the base of the oldest oak tree in the forest, which is rumored to have the power to grant wishes.

      >> they believe that all bad-natured goats go to the forbidden after they die. there, the cursed gods run rampant.
      - nanopei, god of darkness
      - gejda, goddess of the underworld
      - arecim, god of sickness and death
      - xina, goddess of betrayal and vengeance

      >> their food source consists of:
      - tree bark
      - grass
      - oak leaves
      - small shrubs
      - raspberries
      - large shrubs

      >> their predators are:

[ Bellows of approval fill the air as the goats of The Endless Plains witness the founding of Tiny Hooves Grove.
