Here is the first riddle-- An accused boy sits before a judge, and the judge, feeling sorry for the boy, gives the boy a chance to choose his own fate. The judge says "If you tell the truth, we will hang you. But if you tell a lie, we will chop off your head." What can the boy say to get himself out of this mess?

No, I haven't. The riddle just shows up quite often from other things I read. Plus, my brother is always asking me to answer riddles he thinks i haven't heard of.

answer: Many answers to this. Most likely to be 1 person. Because it's not clear whether the man with seven wives are also going to St. Ives, then it would be 2802. Then there's also the factor of whether the sacks would be counted as part of the 'how many', if they aren't then it'd be 2752. Or it could also be 2, because it does not state whether the man's seven wives were with him. Or it could be asking the question of how many 'kits, cats, sacks, and wives' are going to St. Ives, which gives us the answer of 2800.
So...take your pick. P
