five beautiful things

Postby cherubim » Tue Jun 04, 2019 1:26 am

number one - a genuine smile. there's nothing that compares to the grin of someone who is expressive enough to show their happiness to the world. extra points if they rarely smile or it's you that brings a smile to someone's lips.

one the early morning, when the sun starts to rise and the sky starts to lighten, but stars still shine and the air still holds the chill of the night.
two the nostalgic feeling you get when you revist a childhood memory - whether it be music, a photo, a dream, an old book, or something else that made a snug little spot in your mind years ago.
three soft, loving glances you see when you catch someone off guard; they're directed at you, yet the acknowledgement of this makes the other blush
four basking in a friend's presence after not seeing them for so very long. you chat, you laugh, you grin - but now you simply sit together, sharing a movie or a book.
five the happy face on a dog after their long walk. it can be your own or someone else's - either way, you see the happiness in their eyes and the almost-grin on their face.

two, i love nostalgia.

. reflections, and glimmers of light on cold puddles
. the turning of leaves
. Vibrant flowers coming into bloom. Watching the buds open up.
. When you're cozy under a big warm duvet but it's crisp and winter-y outside
. Homemade desert :^D

lights on puddles! is there anything more soothing?

one finding that something you used to avoid is actually really, really good, and you end up wondering why you hated it at all in the first place.
two seeing an animal mother interact with her children!! showing them around, showing them what to do, showing them basic safety, getting them a meal, showing them back to their den... so soft :>
three coming back to some place from your childhood and finding it the exact same, except with new kids having just as fun as you used to <3
four buying something that you've really hyped yourself up for, that you've waited and waited and waited to get, and finding it way better than what you ever could've dreamed of.
five walking down a busy road of street vendors, looking at all of the carefully, painstakingly crafted goods and feeling so alive and vibrant with the culture and feel of it.

oooof definitely #3, recently I went back to my elementary school to volunteer for a project I had to do and it really hit me... everything was the same, just different names, different faces, and the little trees we planted back when I was there were now bigger and more sturdy... but still the same :")

- belting out a song
- being pleasantly surprised by a book you thought would be boring
- revisiting the fanbase of a book series/movie/musical/game/whatever that you used to really enjoy and seeing that some people have just discovered it and are enjoying it as much as you used to
- getting your hand licked by a horse
- a crisp breeze briefly cutting through the hot late-summer air, hinting at autumn's presence on the horizon
"ᴀʀᴇ ᴡᴇ ᴍ ᴀ ᴋ ɪ ɴ ɢ - ᴛ ᴏ ᴛ ᴀ ʟ - ᴅ ᴇ ꜱ ᴛ ʀ ᴏ ʏ ᴏʀ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ᴍ ᴀ ᴋ ɪ ɴ ɢ - ᴀ - ʟ ɪ ᴠ ɪ ɴ ɢ?"

revisiting!!! i actually just did that! it's been a while since i've seen the walking dead.

one. a freshly painted room! white too! two. revisiting a childhood home or even looking at papers from your childhood. three. reuniting with a friend from the past, often by accident. four. neatly handwriting a full paper and it turns out great five. staying up all night with your friends and talking about life.

Those are some good ones, hm... gonna have to go with #5, with #2 as a runner-up. I love staying up late texting my friends, often talking about deep and philosophical topics. Makes me feel alive I guess. (ack that was edgy but.. ah, you get what I'm saying)

all-stars round! I was too lazy to come up with new ones, so I took some of my favorite ones I'd posted before and just used them
- staring out the car window and seeing a skyline touched by blue mountaintops in the distance
- rediscovering a song you used to love but had completely forgotten about and being hit in the feels as soon as you hear the opening chord
- when a song that strangely fits the moment perfectly starts playing, almost like a scene in a movie
- car rides in the rain, dreary skies above you, moments seeming like memories as you gaze out the window
- looking back on the good times and smiling despite the tears running down your face
"ᴀʀᴇ ᴡᴇ ᴍ ᴀ ᴋ ɪ ɴ ɢ - ᴛ ᴏ ᴛ ᴀ ʟ - ᴅ ᴇ ꜱ ᴛ ʀ ᴏ ʏ ᴏʀ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ᴍ ᴀ ᴋ ɪ ɴ ɢ - ᴀ - ʟ ɪ ᴠ ɪ ɴ ɢ?"

They're All So Lovely, But It's A Tie Between 2, 3, And 5. Music Keeps Me From Losing My Mind, And I'm A Sentimental Dork |D

1. Sitting Around With Your Friends And Just Focusing On The Moment.
2. Rewatching Your Favorite Episodes Of A TV Series.
3. Looking At Old Pictures Of Your Family From A Time You Never Got To Experience.
4. The Sound Of Rain On A Tin Roof.
5. The Cool, Crisp Air Of A Summer Night.

I absolutely love #2 and #4

-the smell of rain
-a small bubbly waterfall surrounded by plants and nature
-a koi pond
-when the sun hits your loved ones eyes at just the right angle and you remember exactly why you love them
-remembering all of the people who will miss you when you’re gone

certainly 2, nature in any form it takes is stunningly beautiful

1; sitting and talking with friends after a long, stressful day
2; hearing a song you used to love again, only to realize you adore it still
3; cuddling with your pet(s)
4; drawing something and being genuinely really proud of it; your hard work truly paying off
5; going out places with family and enjoying every second of it
