the collective
prey list- mice, shrew, songbirds, rabbit, squirrel, other birds
predators list- dogs, foxes, hawks, eagles, mountain lions
common cat colors/lengths- varying coat colors/patterns, but cats from the collective typically tend to have longer fur than outsiders

belief system- the collective is a strictly monotheistic group, worshiping a creature known only as the night mother. it is uncertain as to what exactly the night mother is - many varying depictions have been brought forth in the forms of cave paintings and vaguely-detailed sightings of what might have been her, but the collective is firm that she is the only provider they need. she is said to protect her disciples, and feast upon those who've wronged them.

nature- the collective as a group tends to focus more on its own business, preferring to study and practice religious ceremonies in solitude. they're wary of outsiders, especially if they look different - different is bad in the eyes of the night mother. at gatherings (which they're rarely seen at as is), the collective remains distanced from the rest of the clans, usually chattering quietly amongst themselves rather than socializing with outsiders.

ceremonies/traditions- the collective has a multitude of unnamed ceremonies and practices they indulge in. some of which are reminiscent of typical clan ceremonies (naming ceremonies, changing of leadership, etc.), but others that are not so common. these include, but are not limited to, the following: coming of age ceremonies (often viewed as a rite of passage for most apprentices), various tournaments and gladiatorial-type battles (to appease the night mother and show her how strong the clan has become), slaying parties (in which the clan's mightiest hunters will go forth and seek out a predator on the territory and slay it, bringing its body back to the camp for a celebration), among various religious studies that the leader and medicine cats will partake in.

reputation- most outsiders view the collective as "savages with the guidance of the ancestors." not a lot of clans typically know about the night mother, but they have seen the graphic depictions of her displayed around the collective's camp, tipping them off that something isn't quite right here. coupled with the fact that the collective's medicine cats oftentimes adorn themselves with various bones and feathers from fallen prey, this oftentimes leads to the collective being feared and looked down upon. tales are woven at night by mothers looking to scare their kits into behaving - if they do not behave, "the collective will come."

territory- the collective resides at the base of a mountainside, where nights are cold and the predators are colder. it is heavily forested along the southernmost edge of camp, and there is a small creek running through the camp. there is also a cave system at the northernmost edge of camp, right in the base of the mountain, where odd twoleg paintings depict graphic scenes of a spindly beast known as the night mother who is said to roam these parts.

general personality- cats of the collective tend to be rather odd, oftentimes coming across as aloof and distant with quirky undertones. these are the outcasts, the strays, the ones forgotten. they have been abandoned, cast aside by their peers and shunned for their strange ways. however, occasionally there are the outliers that seek out the collective - they come from many walks of life, having heard the call of the night mother. or perhaps they were in search of another clan and somehow got roped into the collective? who knows for certain?

other info- i imagine the leader of the collective to be a small, frail tom, with aching geriatric bones and a large patch of scarring on the right side of his face/neck, if that's okay? i'm aware i'll be getting free to use images for my first five posts, but if this helps for when the color-in time comes (as i would like lineart cats!), then that'd be ace <3

Willowclan camp is built around a great willow tree, with dens dug out around the roots and a low branch perfect for announcements. The surrounding territory is mostly forest, with a river nearby and a meadow outside the clan boundaries. It gets cold in leafbare and hot in greenleaf, so most cats have shorter pelts to tolerate both extremes. All colors and markings are common, but being wild cats far from twolegs, pedigree traits are rare.
The clan is friendly, almost naive - more than willing to give strange cats the benefit of the doubt. This tolerance results in many different cats from different backgrounds all living and working together. Because of this, the Willowclan leader is more of a figurehead. They represent the clan to others and perform ceremonies, but clan matters are decided by casting stones, the way tribe cats did long ago. This includes a procedure for replacing the leader if many cats are dissatisfied with them.
The level of belief in Starclan varies wildly between cats, but no other belief systems are present (so far). The medicine cat(s) are the most devout believers, receiving prophecies through dreams and doubling as a spiritual counselor for troubled cats. However, a good medicine cat knows not to try to convert a nonbeliever even in times of need. Medicine cats and the leader can talk with Starclan by travelling through the meadow to a huge lake with a pebble shore, and touching their nose to the water.
Any two or more adult cats can be mates, including all ranks and cats from other clans. Still, some medicine cats choose to remain mateless to prioritize their bond with Starclan.

Predators: standard forest stuff - foxes, hawks, etc
Ranks: same as standard clan ranks, except cats of any gender can care for kits in the nursery, and as such are called caretakers instead of queens. Additionally, leaders have one life like any other cat.

Leafbare has ended and snow has begun to melt. Rain is more common which may lead to floods in water-based or low-lying territories.
Prey is beginning to return, and kittings will run smoother and the chances of queens or kits dying during birth will begin to drop.
Loners, too, are beginning to explore clan territories which makes the odds of finding new cats higher than it otherwise would be.

"Who does he think he is?" Owlgaze huffed, tracking Tigerstep as he strutted with purpose over the stone camp. "Who gave him the power to tell us what to do? I remember when he was just a scrap of fur in the nursery. Weaselstar is starving himself for us, but that...that foxheart is holding us with vines by the neck." Skinknose shook her head with a sigh. She blocked out the squeaking of her newborn kits and looked longingly at the empty nests across from her. Sunbird's bed, which was practically entwined with hers. Ibisheart's who's moss still smelled like fresh waterlilies. And the empty spaces, where nests used to lie before Oleanderthorn took them for the quarentine den. So many lives had come into the world in this den, and now its moss was being used to cradle those on their way out. A sharp bark tore Skinknose from her musing.
"Yea, you." Tigerstep hissed, lashing his tail, beckoning Skinknose from her nest. She sighed and got to her paws, soothing her newborns with a lick on each of their heads.
"What do you want, Tigerstep."
"You're looking awfully well-fed." The 'deputy' commented.
"I'm nursing three kits." Skinknose shot back, flattening her ears "I'm not exactly in my athletic prime." Tigerstep gave a mechanical laugh and shook his head. She tried to look into his eyes for some clue about what he was going to do next, but she found none.
"I heard." He sneered, whipping his tail again "Congratulations. I hope you feel happy. Our stomachs won't. Why is it that you continue to bring more mouths to feed into this hell-scape? Don't you think we're struggling enough without more mewling scraps of meat?" Skinknose dug her claws into the ground.
"I'm not quite sure what you want me to say, Tigerstep." She meowed, voice taught and sharp "I won't apologize for having a family."
"No, I suppose you won't" Tigerstep growled "And you'll never have the ability to." With that, he pounced on the queen, fervently tearing and gnashing. Skinknose batted him on the nose, trying to get him to stop, but she never once turned to flee. She stood her ground, swiping at her assailant. But she was weak and exhausted from her long, troublesome labor. Tigerstep, broad and hefty, had no problem pinning her down and sinking his jaws into her throat. He clamped down until Skinknose stopped moving. He tossed the queen's corpse aside, snarling at the wailing cats to get back to work before slinking into Weaselstar's den.

Willowclan

Willow trudged through the forest, checking through the trees every so often to ensure the lake was still visible on his left. It was, though he noted he seemed to be going downhill, closer to the level of the water. Being a little afraid of heights, it was a welcome change from the previous cliff overlooking the lake he had been walking along. Towards sunset he could no longer see the lake, so he ventured further in the direction it had been. As he left the forest, he realized he was now completely level with the lake, as he arrived on a vast shore of pebbles, lake water lapping at the edge. He got a sense for just how huge the lake was - the cliffs extended back the way he came as far as he could see, further on was an endless pebble shore, and across he could see no land, only water. He would have thought it an ocean if not for the water's taste. He remembered his mother's descriptions of oceans, how they were salty like blood and came up and down with the moon. This was not an ocean, but it was the biggest water he'd ever seen. He walked closer to the water. The sun was completely gone now, and the moon and stars reflected off the surface. Willow dropped low, touched his nose to the water, and hoped that even if this wasn't an ocean, it would work.
Nothing happened. Willow kept his eyes closed, but he didn't see any ghost cats like his mother's stories. Maybe it had to be an ocean after all. He didn't even know where he could find an ocean. Keeping his eyes closed just in case, Willow sent out a prayer. Please let me lead a clan. I know it's what I need to do. I'm sorry I don't know where the ocean is. I hope you can hear me anyway. Send me a warrior, someone to help me find food and set up a camp. I can make you proud, I promise. Um, thank you. He wasn't sure how to end it, or if anyone had heard him. Willow got up and headed away from the shore, towards the meadow a little ways down, walking with his head a little lower than before.
Even though it was well past the time he'd usually sleep, Willow kept walking. He walked through the meadow he had seen, and back into more forest. Just as he finally started to feel the effects of staying up so late, he arrived at a clearing with a great willow tree in the center. As he circled it, he noticed the branching point was low enough he could jump up into it. He did, and found a depression just big enough for a cat and some bedding. Finally laying down after a day's travel, he couldn't keep himself from falling asleep. I can make a proper nest in the morning, and go hunting. As he drifted off, he decided that now that he had a camp, he should call himself Willowstar.
