Jaskier flicked an ear. “This is the site?” Brandy asked, joining him on the lip of the hollow. The shadows cast by the forest didn’t help the gloomy and unkempt look of what was supposed to be their new home. Elias shrugged. “Maybe it’ll look better after we clean it up. I mean we’re the best soldiers in the fleet. The king wouldn’t just give us some random pit in the ground for our camp...would he?” Jaskier sighed. “He might have.” He begrudgingly slid down the side of the hollow, sending dirt cascading after him. He shook out his thick black pelt and waited for his companions to join him. “What are we supposed to be doing here, again?” Brandy grumbled. Elias puffed out his chest and put a mock authoritative voice. “We have been sent to guard the outer forest from any bestial threats.” He boomed “We are to set up camp and build up a trained force of warriors to expel any harmful creatures.” Brandy rolled her eyes. “Right and how are we going to do that, exactly? There are three of us.” Jaskier left the two to their conversation and made his way over to a fallen slab of wood. It rested securely against a thick tree, creating a perfect den space. He turned to the other two dogs and blinked. “This’ll be my den.” He declared “We can build more out of the sides of the hollow.” He gestured to wide, shallow indents in the tightly packed dirt. Elias nodded. “Shouldn’t we patrol first? To secure the area and look for other soldiers.” He barked. The alpha shook his head. “No,” said Jaskier “We need to focus on den building before we go out and look for more dogs.” The three came to an agreement on placement of the dens, and each started to dig, starting their new home.

Story
Dusk never thought she would join a pack. From the moment she was born she always lived in a human nest. Not with any of them, she was never a pet-dog, always a stray. And here she was now, with a bunch of dogs she didn’t know. She was sick of living in this loud place where the humans, went around with their roaring-boxes, screaming at her or trying to catch her, but to straight run into a pack wasn’t her plan when she left that place.

She wasn’t someone who lived by rules or who took commandos, but she also didn’t know how to survive in the wild. Shred, the leader or something like that, let her stay to be trained, so she accepted her place in the pack, for now. She had to promise to stay, but when she was fully trained, she would just sneak out and live her one life.
Dusk looked over to her mentor. They were a lot bigger than her, but they seemed friendly. Except for once, Dusk hasn’t talked to them. They sat beside a dog that looked like them, probably the same breed. She only really knew that the name of her mentor was Rose, but she didn’t know the name of the other one. Whoever he was he seemed close to Rose. Siblings? Mates maybe? Dusk wouldn’t ask but she still wondered.

When her eyes suddenly met cold brown ones, she knew she had been staring too long at them both. Her whole body tensed up automatedly and she averted her eyes, the ground next to her was all of a sudden way more interesting than anything else.
“Dusk!” A loud voice called to her. It wasn’t Rose or the other dog. It was Rain who jumped at her excitedly. The young female waged her tail, looking at her almost expecting. “Y-Yes?” Dusk didn’t know how to act with her. She was always, so… bubbly and excited and jumpy, but most of all loud. “Now that you stay here let me show you the territory! You will love it! It’s pretty big, but not too big and there are so many awesome places and-“ Rain went on and on talking happily, not even noticing that Dusk stopped listening to her. How does she even catch her breath while talking so fast?

Dusk looked at Rose again for a short moment. They still looked at her with these cold eyes. Dusk gulped before standing up and turning to Rain. “Yeah, let's go. Show me the territory.” Dusk clearly interrupted her. She could see it in the startled face of the older dog, but it didn’t took long for her to jump up and to start talking again while starting to guide Dusk of the camp

THE GREAVEN EMPIRE, through their days of glory, was a strong kennel enforced with loyalty and vigor from its membersーbut just as the old sayings foretold, all good things must come to an end. The Empire, known by outsiders for its horrific legacies, would fall; one cool, autumn season, when sickness and pure chaos overthrew their order. Their numbers depleted rapidly until only a select-few remained; and these remaining canines would become the basis of an uprising deemed AD DEIECTIONEM.

AS THE EMPIRE FELL, their God, Mikhail, demanded his loyalty be rekindled. He commanded that the remaining survivors show their true devotion to their gifted deity through embarking on an escapade throughout foreign lands. Thus, the uprising was born. The original council of the Greaven Empire would come together and formulate their new plan, what they would deem the “second order of Mikhail”. Ad Deiectionem is a growing force that spreads their influence like that of an infectious diseaseーthey enforce the command of Mikhail upon others until they are forced to acknowledge him, commonly with the use of violence and pure cruelty; they purposefully incite fear into their victims until they submit to their dominance; they will ruthlessly tear families apart and enslave them to their ranks. There is no mercy to be found among this kennel.

AD DEIECTIONEM must still remember their roots, or from the humble beginnings they once started. They strive to retain the beliefs and traditions established among the Greaven Empire. However, sacrifices are no longer required to appease Mikhail, for their workings as his personal army among the mortal realm are enough to provide for his needs. Furthermore, due to their constantly-traveling status, breeds of all shapes and sizes are taken under the command of Ad Deiectionem. They will likely never settle, like nomads, and their environment is always changing. Between their travels, the kennel rests at a makeshift “camp” or “settlement” for brief periods of time until they decide to move on again. These periods of time can last anywhere between a few days to a few weeks, but it is never permanent. They are well-spent stockpiling prey to be brought along their travels or training-up their Sentries. They will also use this time to raid nearby rogue-settlements and capture new dogs to join their ranks.

COMMON PREY that the kennel manages to come across are scavenged remains, voles, hares, small birds, large birds, raccoons, white-tailed deer, wild boars, and even mule deer. Small prey can be carried in packs worn by assigned Sentries, while large prey is eaten in place until it is completely used-up or they will leave it to be scavenged by other creatures. Predators they may encounter include coyotes, bears, wolves, mountain lions, and badgers.

This means that The Vultures has been disbanded, and I ask that the dogs within it simply be dissolved. The remainder of the Greaven Empire will also be dissolved. Eleven new dogs...
Three of them the trespassers, who had readily agreed to join the Forsaken. One of them, Bellona, was currently sitting in Minerva's den, leg wrapped in moss as the shaman searched for the herbs she needed to heal the canine.

Three other dogs had been found just entering the borders or newly searching them, and again, all three had agreed to join.

The last five dogs were a family, they'd come from a disbanded pack. One of the pups, young Pan, she seemed to be completely deaf, but when it came time for her to begin her training, then all Mars had to do would be to find a spirit willing to take Pan on as their Host, and the spirit would become Pan's ears for her.

Mars didn't know how Kratos and Macha (the pup's parents) would respond to their daughter becoming a Host, they had been rather disturbed by Mars and Minerva. But hearing was an essential part of the training process. "After Pan finishes training, it is possible she could be weaned off of the spirit." Mars's spirit offered. "But that will be a choice they must make together. The spirit can only leave if the host is willing, and the host may only lose them if the spirit is willing."

There is also the choice of allowing Pan to train without becoming a Host. Mars mused. "True," the spirit rumbled "If her trainer can find a way to teach her without her ears, perhaps then it is the trainer who deserves to become a Host, for discovering a way to teach those without their hearing."

Or those who have lost their ears in battle. Mars added.

"Then we shall wait. If Pan proves unable to train without her ears, then we shall reconsider. Until then...I believe it is time to consider the closing of our borders."

Let's wait until Freya's pups are born, I want to be sure we have enough to train her pups, Macha's litter, and keep up with the patrols.
