xxa large black shape walked slowly along the edge of the crystalline blue water, and every so often small waves lapped softly against its paws. for the most part, it was quiet, apart from the crash of the water’s waves and the signing of brightly-colored tropical birds, their wings flashing through the trees. douglas has lived in the secluded toucan cove, named for its said birds, his entire life, his parents though long gone having settled here long ago. only now, he was no longer a lone wolf─but the reaper, the sovereign, of the grimtooth pack, as appointed by aiko.

Elk came to join Ai'mithe and the alpha fae found that she felt rather sorry for the brute. He was young, a mere eighteen moons, yet he was skittish and full of fear. Ai'mithe could only assume something awful had happened to him in his past. The fae's mind was a whirl of thought as she slunk from her nest, pushing elegantly past the daisy entwined vines. Elk sat near the edge of came, head lifted, staring in awe at the brilliant leaves on the trees. Ai'mithe came up next to him, "Beautiful, isnt it?" She asked quietly.

The darker brute nearly jumped out of his skin as his head whipped around to face the alpha. His eyes instantly held regret and he lowered his head with his ears pinned against his skull, "So-sorry."

Ai'mithe tipped her head in pity before lowering her nose and nudging the young wolf's cheek, "You have nothing to apologize for, my dear."

Elk's bright eyes looked at her in a mixture of confusion and fright, as if he expected her to lash out after such comforting words. He lifted his head only the tiniest amount and preemptively flinched at an attack that wasnt coming.

The alpha pressed her forehead against Elk's, "I will not hurt you. Trust me, I wish only for you to succeed. Anarhowl will keep us safe here and you don't have a thing to fear." She pulled away and lowered her snout under Elk's chin then pushed his head upward. When she was content that he was sitting enough upright she nodded lightly, "Come now, Elk, darling, let's see go for a quick hunt and light patrol."

Elk nodded softly in return, his heart pattering like the flapping wings of a hummingbird. Never had he known such kindness and he feared he'd just fallen in love. Nonsense, he scolded himself mentally, don't be such a pup. He trotted after Ai'mithehowl, eager to see what the day's activities might unveil.

the coral ridge pack is a wolf pack that was founded and is lead by caesar, a 90-month-old male. ranks are as follows:

REPUTATION
the coral ridge pack is known to be reserved and quiet, mayhaps even aggressive. much like their alpha, they actively avoid other packs as not to cause or run into any conflict. this doesn't mean that they aren't open to the idea of allies, though- caesar and his pack simply prefer to be sought out rather than seeking. where most wolves are bark, then bite, caesar prefers to bite and then ask questions later, and his pack follows suit, even if it's in hesitation.

TERRITORY
the coral ridge wolves live around a natural, freshwater waterfall in the middle of a forest that is made up of both coniferous and deciduous trees. the wolf's dens are situated along an incline just behind the waterfall and jut deep into the side of the cliff. the lowest den has a natural tunnel system that's above water level but low enough to the ground that the space if made up of clay, the occasional rock, and dirt. this is where the pups and the broodmothers stay, deep into the hills of coral ridge. when they say the hills have eyes here in coral ridge, they're talking about the pack.

BELIEFS
the pack ancestors are the ancestors of pack members who guide the canines through difficult times. any pack member has the ability to hear from their ancestors, but not each wolf can communicate with them; that ability is reserved for alphas, shamans, and true heirs.
the ground ancestors are the ancestors of the home in which the coral ridge pack lives. when the alpha of the pack is requesting aid, they are speaking to the ground ancestors for assistance. these wolves each represent an important part of life/personality and assist believing wolves in gaining the fundamentals before being promoted to a new rank within the pack.
the true heirs are wolves that have been selected by opal before birth to become the next pack leader. when a wolf is labeled 'true heir,' that means their litter mates are not permitted to challenge them for their inheritance. the opal ground ancestor will visit the canine once they are ready to hold the information and will also visit the lead shaman. canines who are caught challenging true heirs may be subject to demotion from the bloodline protection and possibly expulsion from the pack. NOTE: true heirs are incredibly rare and do NOT happen often.

Valora brushes against Misael's flank, nuzzling the brute happily. Not only had the pack received a much needed healer, but they had also received the great news that the Queen and King Consort were expecting their first litter of pups.

"Aren't you excited?!" The Queen squealed happily, her warm brown eyes brimming with love as she looked at her mate. She had thought things would never get better again after they were exiled from their previous pack, but Mother had blessed them with their own pack and now their pups.

Misael's gaze was focused elsewhere, clearly not paying attention to what the she-wolf was saying. When she bumped him with her muzzle, he snapped out of his thoughts and looked down at her. "What?"

"Our pups." Valora frowned.

"Oh, oh yeah! It's great, sweetie. You'll be the best pup-mother ever." Misael replied, flashing her a toothy grin. "I gotta go on patrols, I'll bring you back some prey. Stay in your den and don't stress yourself too much." He nuzzled her before hurrying after Anika, who was already heading across the clearing.

After Misael had returned from his patrols, he had kept his promise and brought some prey for the Queen. Valora took the rabbit silently, digging into the prey. "Thank you." She said, looking up at the King Consort briefly before returning to her meal. Misael touched his nose to her ear.

"I'll see you in the morning, love." Misael reported before slipping out of the den. Valora watched after him before resting her muzzle on her paws. The she-wolf waited there quietly for what must've been forever before she got to her paws, deciding she would rather sleep in the subordinate den with her mate than be alone in her own den.

Valora paused in the entrance to her den when she saw Anika darting across the clearing, her pale yellow eyes quickly searching the clearing before she slipped out of the Court's camp. The Queen moved to follow after her only to pause when she saw the entrance to the subordinate den quiver, parting to reveal Misael. The King Consort looked around slowly before slinking out after Anika.

The Queen watched the camp entrance long after it stopped moving before returning to her own den, her heart feeling as if it had been torn out of her chest.

Larka stared at the wolf, a handsome brute, and only moved when he seemed to relax. The male cocked his head and asked, seemingly confused, "Aren't you going to challenge me for being on your territory, ma'am?" Taken aback by the polite tone the wolf used, the gray fae replied, "Uhhh... No, I mean," she recovered from her initial shock and asked, "um, have you been sent by the stars?" The wolf blinked, confused, shaking his head; Larka sighed and said, turning back, "Well, I was hoping the stars had replied back to my request..." "Hold on..." the male wolf uttered, taking small steps toward the fae, "When you say 'stars', do you mean, voices of those who have gone before us? Like, ancestors?" Larka turned to the male and asked, eyes wide, "Then you are from the stars! My ancestors have not abandoned me!" Happily, the fae started trotting around the larger brute, remarking, "I requested for an alpha male, to be my mate eventually, and help me start my own pack." "Well," the male wolf mumbled, half to himself, "you are quite beautiful..." "Excuse me?" the gray she-wolf asked; the wolf, taken aback, shook his head and said hastily, "No, no, nothing." He grinned, showing the whites of his canines, and introduced himself, "Well, since I'm your alpha male then, ma'am. The name's Apollo." "Please," Larka chuckled, brushing him off, "call me Larka, that's my name." Apollo flashed a toothy grin at the gray fae and said, "Larka it is, then. What shall we do first?" Larka shrugged, "For starters, we could take a short rest, and then explore our territory together. See," she explained, seeing surprise in Apollo's eyes, "It's only been a moon before I came here and reclaimed this land for my pack." "Ah," Apollo replied, "I understand. Then we should exllore together and learn more about the territory that will serve us and our pack for countless moons to come." "Aye," Larka agreed.

in the depths of a huge forest, lies an abandoned church at the side of a lake. humans haven't set foot there since ages, but someone else calls it home: it is the heart of the whisper court, a small pack directed by a she-wolf who, upon slipping in the once sacred place, was visited by the spirits of those who travelled those lands. the sybil fully trusts the spirits, and the members of the pack shall do the same. she chooses the quests for the trainees and when to go hunt or patrol. mates need her blessings, although it is believed that love will always be accepted.

the pack accepts polyamorous and monogamous love, as long as it won't be hidden to the sybil, who too can have more than one mate. the sybil chooses her successor, depending on the will of the spirits. however, the church serves as den for everyone; the part of the building which still has a roof serves as nursery and the place for wolves to rest. when the sybil found the catacombs under the church, she decided to use that part as emergency place, after finding out it has an exit that takes to the opposite side of the lake.

because of the proximity of the lake, the trainees are taught how to swim and to fish, other than hunting and fighting. those who are thought can replace the sybil will take other lessons, specialized in listening to the "whispers" in the church and how to foretell future events - usually, it is the sybil's strongest pup of the litter, or one who shows a particular affinity for the whispers. the other fundamental roles in the pack are the guardians, a couple of wolves chosen among the strongest, who act as gatekeepers for the church and take care of the guards; the lead hunter, who plans the hunting and the fishing.
