Featherwhisker stretched out of the den. "Good mornin' to ya saps," he yawned before opening his eyes. "Whtchya talkin 'bo-" he saw the bloody kits body. "So this is what you're talking 'bout...." he uttered to himself. He started to examine the body. Something very odd made him screech almost, "I'd recodnize those claw marks anywhere! A cat killed Tallkit!"

Stormbird shook her head. "No... I won't... I can't..." Tallkit would never be killed by one of us! Never... ever... But deep inside, she knew it was possible. She closed her eyes and stared up at the sky where her heavenly ancestors would arise at dusk. Oh, Starclan help us!

Graytail's eyes widened at Featherwhisker's declaration. She had already had a hunch that a cat had killed him, when she thought of the other possibilities and how they were flawed, but hearing the skilled medicine cat confirm it felt like a kick in the stomach. "But who would do that? Certainly a vicious rogue, or a loner...we have to catch them!"

Spottedtail woke up, entire body still covered in mud. She padded outside of the warriors den, the smell of death instantly hitting her. Once she saw a dead bloody kit, fear lit up in her eyes. The unmistakable scent of Tallkit. And, it was the only kit in the clan!
