It was a peaceful night in the nursery. A cat wandered in,
staring at the queen and her kit. The mystery cat regarded
Tallkit for a moment, before shaking the Tom-kit awake.
"Hey," said the cat to the groggy kit. "Want to play?" Tallkit
nodded, and walked out of the nursery. Quick as a flash,
the killer struck, slashing the poor kit's throat. "Have fun
playing in Starclan," purred the killer. They washed away
the evidence in the stream, before returning to sleep.
You just lost a kit, Thunderclan! Hurry before it's too late!

Lionheart woke up to the scent of blood~ As she was blind, she had a great sense of hearing and smell~ She followed the blood scent, and immediately recognized Tallkit's scent, as the scent of blood was getting stale~ She dragged the body back to camp, wallowing in sorry for the kit~

Graytail padded out of the warriors den, her mind wrapped up in patrols. Perhaps she could send Lionheart, Stormbird, and their apprentices on the dawn patrol. Suddenly, her focus shattered as she scented blood. Not the warm, mouth-watering scent of a fresh-killed piece of prey; it was cat blood. As she saw Lionheart carrying Tallkit's body, she couldn't comprehend it. "What happened to him?" she asked, her tail drooping and her eyes wide with sorrow. A cat so young shouldn't have been called to StarClan so early.

[gallifrey falls.]

xxxJadefeather yawned, blinking her green eyes sleepily. She raised her head from her nest to look around the nursery, after noting with some worry Tallkit was not by her side. The nursery was empty. Getting to her paws, the queen slipped out of the dimly lit den and into the camp beyond.
xxxMost other cats seemed to still be sleeping, as it the camp's clearing was largely empty, save for the fresh-kill pile. By the sounds of it other cats were beginning to stir. Jadefeather hoped Tallkit had not gone out into the forest by himself; he was quite an adventurous kit, something that often got him into trouble. The sudden scent of blood hit the roof of her mouth, and her eyes widened as Lionheart padded into camp, Tallkit dangling from her jaws. The kit was still, his throat torn and crusted with dried blood.
xxxShe let out a wail, dashing over to the blind warrior and sniffing the kit against all hope. Featherwhisker was a skilled medicine cat..Raising her eyes from her hopeless search, Jadefeather somehow found the will to speak. "H..how did this happen..?" Fox, she wanted to say, or badger. Maybe a passing wolf? But the wound looked to clean for any; and a wolf or fox would have carried off Tallkit to be eaten. A loner, then.. Jadefeather stared at Lionheart, silently waiting for an answer, her eyes full of pain.

Shortflower yawned and rolled over, resting in the center of camp on her back. She felt the morning sun shine on her, warming her belly. Today would be a good day. Or would it? She turned, staring upside down as a warrior brought out a bloody bundle. She flipped on to her paws.
"Tallkit!" She gasped. She ran to the kit.
"No! Tallkit! What happened?! Who did this? I'll kill him! Who hurt my little warrior?!"
Tallkit had always loved to stay with Shortflower, playing and hearing stories.

Stormbird's orange eyes opened the soft sounds of the forest. Faint sunlight streamed through the slivers of light in the den, and she longed to stay in her soft, mossy scoop. I don't think I'm on the dawn patrol... She burrowed deeper into the fluffy moss. She frowned- it smelled faintly of blood. Had there been a thorn in her bedding? She didn't feel any different from last night. The gray she-cat looked up and sniffed the air- more blood. She froze and turned to the entrance. It seemed like a normal morning, if you could ignore the heavy scent of death in the air. Death... blood... what happened?! Just before she emerged from the den, she paused, afraid of what awaited her. Taking a deep breath, Stormbird pushed her way out, emerging into the clearing... where a small, furry lump of black, white, and crimson awaited her. "No... Tallkit?" She whispered, staring in horror at the small bundle. "No... no... how could this happen?! It had to be a fox, or a badger, or a loner..." It was a rogue or something. Right? Please tell me that it was a rogue... Oh, Starclan, why did Tallkit have to be taken away from us? He would've made an excellent warrior... why did he leave us?!
