Autumn is here! During the autumn, births will begin to increase in difficulty. Food availability will drop as animals begin to migrate and plants start to die. Fewer nomads are to be found and the odds of sickness begin to rise.

[ Ryoshi's patrol catches x1 squirrel and x1 hare. Ryoshi doesn't feel very good on the patrol and when he gets home, figures he should go to the shamans to make sure what seems like a cold doesn't get worse. If he goes immediately, he can return to patrols in the same post. Meanwhile, Daichi has problems of his own; the symptoms seem similar to that of a cold but none of the usual remedies work. He either needs to see Iyashi or 2 posts of rest. ]
[ Orchid's patrol catches x1 chicken, x1 trout, and x1 squirrel. ]
[ Junpei's patrol finds x1 wood, x1 twine, x1 cotton, and 19 yemons. ]
[ Airi's patrol comes across a seemingly-abandoned dragon nest with only a single egg and 8 yemons scattered about. The patrol decides to take it with them only to realize that the nest wasn't abandoned after all and that they now have a very angry mother dragon coming after them. In the scramble to get away, Chojin and Ruby fall over each other, fracturing his hand (although the egg remains safe) and breaking her leg respectively. They will either need Iyashi's attention, in which case they can return to patrols in the same post, or 2 posts of rest. Meanwhile, Airi and Midori decide to stay back and hold off the enraged dragon. The battle feels longer than it really was, with lots of aerial acrobatics, but Midori finally manages to get a killing blow sending the other dragon hurtling down to the ground. The dragon and her rider pause for a moment, knowing that it could have been much worse, ending with one or both of them dead. But they're alive. They're alive and have a new dragon egg to care for and they need to get home. So they do. ]
[ Soren's patrol comes across a herd of cows. Baylor, thinking they look very cute, tries to feed one but is rebuffed rather violently when it bites his hand. Thankfully, it's not a big injury and he will simply need a shaman's attention, in which case he can return to patrols immediately, or 1 post of rest. As he's nursing his wounded hand, he looks down and notices 3 yemons! Well, at least they got something out of it. ]
[ Oana's patrol comes across a pair of emus who take offense to the Zaffarians existence and rush them. The surprise attack severely injures Li and she dies as the others try to get her home. To add insult to injury, Oana notices a single yemon lying on the ground. She picks it up and shoves it in her pocket angrily, vowing to get revenge on the emus. ]

[ Iyashi and Mushi gain 1 KP each. ]
[ Atsushi is healed and can return to training. Iyashi gains 1 KP from the experience. ]

[ Shin and Shosei successfully test scouting and fighting respectively. ]
[ Unku and Kanon gain a skill in scouting but Saki catches a mild cold and is unable to concentrate on training. She will need to be seen by one of the shamans and can return to training in the same post. ]

Both villagers can be seen by a shaman (Atlas will need Medea specifically) to return patrolling immediately, or can rest for 2 posts and 1 post respectively. ]
[ Ianira's patrol catches x1 squirrel and x1 fish. The bad weather that spooked Aurora also spookrs Destrier and the hunters are too surprised to keep a hold of him as he slips through their grasp. He will need 10 servings of fruits or vegetables to be lured back.]
[ Romeo's patrol finds an apprentice with 13 yemons! They do seem a little worried about something... ]
[ Athena's patrol finds a hunter and warrior traveling together. They offer the patrol 11 yemons as a gift. The hunter seems a little shifty but they quickly explain that they're a werewolf and the patrol accepts the explanation. ]
[ Felix's patrol finds a herd of sheep with a few lambs and the villagers decide to take one with them. They also scavenge 18 yemons! Neither of those are the issues; trekking through the mountains carries an inherent risk and Iolana slips, taking with her Kialani who had grabbed her hand in an attempt to save her. Sometimes, there's no rhyme or reason to life's tragedies. ]
[ Saga's patrol finds 7 yemons! They also find a cow herd apparently being tended to by a group of reclusive nomads who, upon detecting the patrol's presence, chase them out. Everyone except for Alinta ends up injured in the following skirmish; Chaya and Nehiti are scratched and bleeding, and will either need a shaman (Medea for Saga) or 2 and 1 post of rest respectively; Saga and Dario have minor injuries to their leg and arm respectively, that will either require a shaman or 1 post of rest; Aiha has a nasty hand injury that will either require Medea's attention or 2 posts of rest. What a patrol! ]
[ Sycamore's patrol finds a seemingly-abandoned dragon egg! The egg is also concealing 10 yemons which they grab. In the rush to grab the egg before the mother comes back (if she's still around), the patrol ends up with a few very stupid injuries: Alfy ends up with a sprain in his hand, Kendric hits his head on a low branch...and Zuximi wants to check she doesn't have a concussion after Evanora hits her on the head ("Gently!" she claims, "Lovingly!") for suggesting and carrying out such a dangerous idea. Alfy and Kendric will either need Medea's attention or 2 posts of rest, while Zuximi simply needs a simple checkup or 1 post of rest. ]

[ Abijam's potato seed is successfully planted! It will bloom in 2 posts. ]
[ Tama's cucumber seed is successfully planted! It will bloom in 2 posts. ]

the high priestess had been hiding her pregnancy from the village for the entire first half of her pregnancy, partially in fear that something would happen and she'd lose the baby, and partially in fear that these magical hunters who were plaguing their village would find out and threaten its life. but, it had gotten to the point where phoebe was starting to show and having a very hard time covering up her growing baby bump, and so she discussed with sycamore the best way to announce the pregnancy to the village. and so, during a regular morning meeting of the village, where patrols were dolled out by phoebe, that she told the village that she had one final announcement to inform them of, before the patrols disembarked. "as many of you may remember, the last border patrol i went on, i fainted. our lovely shaman medea informed me that i had prenatal low-blood-pressure, and needed to rest my body to prevent it from happening again." she reached over to the clan's sentry and clasped her hand with his, placing her other hand protectively over her stomach. "sycamore and i are expecting. so i will remain off of patrols until our child is born and at least a few years old." the witch's face was beaming as the entire village broke out in applause, cheering for the couple; despite the dark season they were in, this was a glimmer of hope.

death seemed like an ever-present threat these days; if it wasn't for the attacks of the rogues, it was the random things that seemed to take the lives of the villagers. phoebe seemed particularly burdened as she spoke to the village at the funeral ceremony for three members of their home - ansel, kailani, and iolana. poor aalton was nearly inconsolable, having lost his soulmate and only child in the same freak accident, but his friends did their best to rally around him as he sobbed through the service. medea lead the proceedings as the bodies were buried alongside all previous fallen comrades in their village's graveyard. as the funeral ceremony ended, phoebe was quick to return to the comfort of her own home, clearly bothered by something that was weighing down her mind. her husband sycamore followed her into their home slowly, cautiously placing a hand on her knee as they sat on the couch, his eyes filled with concern. "phoebe, what is it? what are you thinking my love?" the witch raised her head, unspilled tears glistening in her eyes as she choked trying to hold them back. "how could we bring a child into this dangerous world? anything could happen to them." sycamore moved forward and wrapped his wife up tightly in his embrace, stroking her back soothingly as he murmured comforts to her. "we've got this, my love. we will do anything we need to do to protect our child once they are here with us."

sycamore is the one carrying the green dragon egg back to the village, not allowing the other members of his patrol to carry the egg, despite their offers; he wasn't about to allow someone injured to carry the egg and potentially drop and break it. sycamore places the dragon egg in the care of the council, and phoebe informs the rest of the village that the counselors will inform them all when the egg is hatching so that they can gather and see who the newborn dragon bonds with. a few days passed by when the calls of reyinn and bernice pierced through the stillness of the early morning air, and it was only a chaotic few minutes before the entire village (mostly) was circled up around the shaking/cracking egg. phoebe called out to all scouts, hunters, scout or hunter apprentices, testers, and children (who didn't currently have a bonded steed) to form a tighter circle closer to where the egg was shattering, as these were the preferred ranks for one to own a mounted dragon steed.

the high sorceress noticed the way that one particular naiad stood off to the side of the inner circle; the pale-green naiad, aiha, had taken up the very last spot in the semi-circle, and was a step behind the rest of the villagers, clearly distinguishing herself from the others. phoebe took a moment to step up beside aiha and place a gentle hand on her shoulder, offering her a kind smile, which aiha returned tensely. phoebe knew that aiha had some misgivings towards dragons, ever since she had been attacked by a fire-lizard faire when she was younger, leading to her scars. the egg before them began to shake more violently, its shell cracking off until a tiny little green and tan dragon stretched out before them, its green eyes blinking rapidly to clear away any remaining film as she looked out at the people standing before her. she waddled over to the first people she saw, who were the closest to her on the left side/edge; the children. she sniffed at each of them before moving on to the testers, and then the apprentices, but she dismissed each of them the same way. she approached each of the hunters next, but flicked her tail in dismissal at them each before moving on to the scouts, and as she approached the end of the line, it felt like the entire village held its breath.

aiha was visibly tense as the small green dragon stumbled over to her, and the second her deep green eyes locked on the naiad's, the dragon let out a shrill, excited shriek and raced towards the woman's pale green legs, rubbing its head against her shins as a deep rumbling sound came out of its throat, resembling a purr. aiha's wide eyes sought out phoebe, her mouth gaped as though she didn't know what to do, and phoebe gestured silently for her to lower herself to greet the creature at its own level. aiha slowly did what she was recommended, and bent down to a crouch; the little dragon instantly jumped up onto her knees and began to chatter insistently. the baby dragon's green eyes roamed over aiha's body, and tensed up when it spotted the severe burn scars wrapping around her neck and shoulder; she let out a soft cooing sound, and aiha froze in those seconds as the dragon leaned forward, gently nuzzling the scars and placing a tender lick in one place.

the entire village was watchin with bated breath, and in that moment it seemed as though they let out a collective breath that had been held without meaning to. aiha leaned forward, pressing her forehead gently against the baby dragon's own head, as tears began to flow freely down her cheeks. "nanako - my child of the greens. i am aiha, your tender loving spring. i am yours, and you are mine." her voice was whispered out so softly that none besides herself and her little companion heard her words, but that was just the way it was intended to be.

what no one in the village seemed to notice was that one of their newer members had stayed off to the sidelines of the entire dragon-bonding ceremony, and the moment that he had time to slip away, he did. the pink-haired man made his way through the unseen's territory, heading to a particular designated location that he had been instructed to meet with his leader whenever he had news worth sharing with her. he passed through the blood wards guarding the secret meeting spot, feeling the strange magic ripping through his body, and sat down on a large boulder, knowing that she would hear the call from her magic. ivailo was hardly waiting for a minute before he felt the presence of another within the blood wards, and his mouth turned upwards in a cruel smirk as he turned towards the blonde woman, dipping his head to her in respect as she approached. "ivailo, this is a random time for you to come calling. what is it what has happened?" her amber eyes locked on the werewolf's form as he stood up to meet her. "i have news that may interest you, commander. it would seem that the village's high priestess, phoebe, and her husband sycamore, are expecting their first child; she is pregnant. she will be giving birth in the next few months." nyx reached up her hand to stroke the underside of her falcon's chin, a devious glint to her eye as a cruel smile fell upon her face. "well, isn't that just wonderful news. i think its time to send my darling sister a gift then, in congratulations. thank you, ivailo. now return to the village before they notice your absence."

Notes: Perm note, I would like to see mostly; Demi-god, Fairy, Vampire, Human, Witch/Wizard, Angel, Demon, Kitsune, Shapeshifter, Werefolk, Animalkin. I have a soft spot for any animal based, or any listed above, but I would like any species to be able to join to give myself more plot ideas.

Winter
Winter is here! During the winter, your villagers have the highest failure rate when looking for food and the odds of birth complications are at their peak. Additionally, villagers are more prone to illnesses and might die from even a mild cold if not taken care of properly.

[ Felix's patrol finds nothing but bad luck; Felix ends up falling on his face and will need Alethea to set his broken nose or 1 post of rest while Athena and Ariella get sinus infection. Athena will need Medea's attention or 2 posts of rest while Ariella, thankfully, only needs Althea's attention or 1 post of rest. ]
[ Malila's patrol finds x1 copper ore, x1 wood, and x1 iron ore. Unfortunately, Siffare contracts a minor viral infection that should require Althea's attention or 1 post of rest and Ainsley gets an irritating ear infection that quickly escalates until she will either require Medea's attention and 3 posts of rest. ]
[ Argus and Alinta come across a hibernating dragon and decide to avoid the area. They instead go mining and get x1 copper ore and x2 silver ore. ]
[ Sycamore and Evanora find a fox pup, shivering in the cold. It's definitely been rough for the village recently but surely a new hunting partner won't hurt? Evanora sweeps the pup up in her coat and the two scouts take it home. ]

The end of the world.

It didn't seem to matter how up-to-date you were with apocalyptic TV shows, it didn't matter how many episodes of The Walking Dead you watched, or how many survival games you played. It didn't matter. Not when the world actually ended. All of a sudden everything that had once mattered, everything society held on to in order to survive, was ripped away from the world. No one knows where it began; it was easy to blame curious scientists, but the corrupted government probably had their own motives, hell it could of just as easily began as a new strain of an existing virus that no one could of predicted. Everyone knew what it meant. The world had enough of humans, it had long since reached its capacity to sustain such greedy lives, and this was the end.

The virus had done its job; billions of lives had perished in just the first month, effectively cutting the human population by more than half. The dead didn't disappear though. They rose again to continue the carnage. Zombies. Because of course it just had to be that kind of apocalypse that befell the world. Good luck survivors! The ones who survived, who somehow found a way to wake the next day and continue fighting (for what, who knows?) lost the most important parts of themselves. There was not a single living, breathing soul left in the bleak world that hadn't suffered horrors previously unimaginable. Everyone has lost someone. That was just the way the world worked now, if you hadn't been lost to the reanimated undead then slowly, eventually, you'll be lost to grief and pure madness.

Humans didn't know how to give up though. There came groups and settlements after long suffering months, and eventually it seemed that perhaps the world wasn't so doomed after all. Of course, that hope died quickly. Survival didn't only mean surviving the grip of the undead, but now global warming has decided to catch up and snowstorms & freak blizzards in the middle of a blistering summer heatwave just became a new normal. There were the other survivors too. Because humans could never truly just learn to live in peace with one another it seemed.

So here we go.

The Souls of the Lost are a group of nomadic survivors banding together against all odds to survive the zombie apocalypse. It's been long enough now (at least a few couple months) that all the cities in the world has fallen, and nature is beginning to reclaim most of civilisation. This is the main reason why the group can't yet settle down anywhere, or in one location, but hopefully as their numbers rise, if they ever manage to keep so many alive that is, they may be able to rebuild an abandoned town and call it home.

We'll see how far they go.
