Weather:
The thick snow and dark skies have disappeared without a trace, leaving the deathly silence and white landscapes behind. The barren trees move only to drop the weighted loads of snow onto unwary dogs as prey ventures out into the blinding sunlight. Though prey and herbs will still be harder to find there will still be a greater chance. You should also keep in mind that pregnant dogs and pups have a much harder time in winter and are more prone to death.

the kennel of serendipity
serənˈdipədē/ser·en·dip·i·ty: "the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way"
odyssey: a long journey full of adventures

these dogs reside in deep within a mountain range, where as a big lake follows into a big ocean. but deep in the woods of the range of hills and trees is a small hole in the ground, surrounded by flowers pups or mothers have made on their free time. to also signal where the hole was. a pup and its mother were in the same den together with other families, residing into the bigger sections where plenty of space for their small children to run around. but outside, is the bigger reality, the bigger world. and where there's a big world is a big threat to all mankind. a house, or a barn, lives in this secluded area. there the dogs would hunt for mice or strangling owls or birds for them to eat. nearby is a freakishly enormous lake, where a peaceful songbird or two sing a humble song for the dogs to listen and hear, quietly and soundly. though when walking around, a big field of flowers lays, where rabbits, deer, and even hawks stray. if you walked far enough, you would even find an ocean!

these dogs are mainly happy, bright, and positive. but a few may be quite sad, but each and every member of the small society respects on another, and if not will be harshly punished if one was to go wrong. though they were quite picky with their selection, having either the most prettiest of wolves or the most strongest and leanest of all to hunt for the dogs. each and every dog had its part, no matter what. slacking would become an immedient rank down. quite harsh and scary when they are, but it isn't needed if you're careful for what you do ! they only ever bring in bigger breeds in, no small dogs will ever make a fit there.

the alpha, kido, was a highly respected and worth a lot of money back when he was loved. but when he became older, he had grown bigger, having his owners, especially the children, to stop loving him. he was a teacup sized pup at first, doesn't make sense how big he got, or maybe he was just that small as a child. despite their giving love before, it was all fake. everything felt fake in the world to him. so he ran. he ran far far away where no other human could look down upon him. but he became sad. sad that he left and turned around, but to only see that.. he was lost.
hope was what kept him going, unfortuneatly though it drove him away from his regular path to a different place. it was more plentiful no doubt but he missed humanity and friends. until his first pack members came along.

rules in the pack:
-never let a stray dog go
-you are not to go past other's boundries
-respect one another
-pay attention to your duties, your heart and mind, and to your alpha
-if one higher rank tells you to do something you do it, no exceptions

beliefs and fesitval/ fun activites & their sayings:
-night of the crystal glares (winter), the time of cherry blossoms (spring), summer solstices (summer), and the day where livings things die (fall)
-spring festival; to celebrate the old days of harsh (winter) and to eat and never work on that day
-the day where all must respect the stars/ canis major and minor (never knew canis minor was a small dog breed, and when they do they learn to accept every kind)

Land of the Dark Waters

This is a new kennel that is founded in a territory surrounded by ponds. There are four ponds total, encasing the territory in one large island-like area. There are natural, nature made bridges that connect the 'island' to the real world, but it usually keeps bigger threats (such as most humans or bears) away, especially in seasons of greater rainfall, since the land forms will be harder to find. These bridges, however much they help the kennel in keeping threats away, also ends up keeping some dogs from finding the territory as well. If a dog from the kennel wanders too far from the island, they may have to fend for themselves for a short time before the water recedes enough for them to get back. This also keeps new dogs from easily finding the kennel, which is good because the kennel usually only attracts determined dogs with lots of stamina, but bad because the kennel may be small for quite some time.
For shelter, there are dens that have been made and left by previous occupants. No dog really questioned what they were from, whether they were human made or dog-made, or otherwise, but no scent is left on these dens so there is no threat of whatever made them coming back.

Personalities

The dogs that are normally attracted to the Land of the Dark Waters are determined dogs with lots of stamina. They are usually energetic and can run around the land mass to hunt, and can patrol the large amount of territory. Since these dogs are so secluded, they are often weary of strangers, so if a new dog is overly aggressive or standoffish, the kennel is likely to turn that dog away unless they have good reason to believe the dog is friendly. The dogs here to tend to be very friendly to each other.

Being surrounded by so much water, the dogs that are in the kennel are generally good swimmers as well.

The dogs that (maybe?) are more attracted to The Land of the Dark Waters are:
Border collies, Australian Shepherds, Boxers (rarer), Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador Retriever, English Setter, Poodle (standard), Jack Russell, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, most other Shepherds (German Shepherd, Belgian, etc.)

(ok with any and all dogs, however, this is just the dog breeds I thought might suit the territory more).

kido suddenly jolts up from his nightmarish slumber. the reasona
bly sized brute got up from his position to get up from his lazine
ss, and to get to work. beginning his own pack-like group wasn't
going to be easy, especially alone. he squinted his eyes as he ga
zed upon the sunlight and then sighed, he encouraged himself t
hat, everything starts somewhere, and padded out of the humbl
e abode. he roamed the forests, lakes, and rivers, and decided
to patrol his area and land. he also decided to possibly hunt, for
some food at the least for him to survive on.

he had hoped he found someone new and trustworthy, at least to
help him start off this crazy yet exciting new adventure, or odyss
ey.

short answer: kido sets off to find a new packmate, but to also
guard his borders and to hunt.

in the WINTER,, the light dims in the sky and the heavy snow falls to the ground like rain, coveri
ng it in a thick blanket. it is currently LATE WINTER, meaning the season is merely over with. th
e intensity of the mid season is over,, blizzards are not too active and the temperature is startin
g to warm up. animals will be returning soon to their home in the early spring, but the dogs mus
t continue to ride out winter's wrath. this moon, the snow falls lightly, rivers flow calmly with ic
e covering up only about a section of the water sources. the chance of pups making it through b
irth is still low, but it will rise once spring has begun. herbs are still uncommon to see as well...

Why had he left...? Thamin's mind whirled with confusion as he strode through the wood, letting his lack of confidence soak him like a bucket of paint. His tail hung low and his gaze swung from side to side as he nervously scanned his surroundings. He wasn't comfortable here - he was terrified. He could only think of his sisters Luceat, Cavas, and Dolorem - and what they would think when they finally woke up. It pained his heart. His only brother, the vicious brute, wouldn't have time to care less. He'd be busy with tasks for the humans while their sisters rotted in that mud pen. Thamin cursed himself under his breath. Damn his lack of courage, damn his weak spine and damn his bleeding heart.

Bleeding heart? Thamin snarled as he walked along, irritation now rippling along him. If his heart bled, he wouldn't have run off! He would've saved his sisters! Weren't they relying on him?!

The wind suddenly left Thamin's lung as a force slammed into his side. Thamin was sent sprawling, a heavy wheeze escaping his lips. He found himself pinned to the ground, and when he looked up, he saw two amber eyes glaring at him. A snarl greeted him alongside those fiery eyes and yellowed, bared teeth were hardly two inches from his face.

"I-I-I," Thamin stammered, cowering as best he could while pinned down by the fae's weight, "I'm sorry!" He blurted.

Amaryllis didn't move an inch, a deep growl resonating in her chest.

"I was ju-just passing through," Thamin rambled on, "You se-see, I left m-my old home and I'm trying to-to find a new one so I f-figured th-this-"

"Shut up!" Amaryllis snarled, snapping her teeth next to the brute's ear.

Thamin, feeling her hot breath whip passed his ear, quickly obliged.

Amaryllis hopped off of Thamin's shoulder then, landing a few feet away. She glared at Thamin, eyeing his figure before speaking, "If you're seeking a home, you should stay here."

Stay here!? Thamin's mind screamed as he sat upright, lowering his head respectfully toward the fae. How could he stay here with such a terrifyingly aggressive leader? A leader that probably didn't get much trouble.. the cowardice in Thamin's heart was suddenly very eager to stay. Thamin nodded gently toward Amaryllis, "Lead the way."
