Last Moon:
Bear wanders through the trees hunting for a home. His old owner decided that he was much too big to keep and dumped him on an old hiking trail. Bear was told to sit and to stay and Bear did exactly what he was told, until the moon rose. The first night alone was cruel. Bear hardly knew how to hunt and wasn't accustomed to the forest floor. Over the moon, Bear adapted slowly and received dreams of a special pool surrounded by many dogs who told tales of the wild. Bear decided that he was a new Alpha, Alpha of The Night Wanderers.

Current Moon:
Bear carefully made his way to a silver sheet of water. This was where he felt closest to his fallen ancestors. In a gruff voice, he let of a howl before he laid down. He had decided that a Beta would be a nice start to his pack. When he awoke to the sun's glare, he couldn't really remember his dream. It was am annoying problem of his but he hope his request had been heard. Shaking his pelt, he set off for a hunt.

Daedalus sifted through a small pile of herbs with his nose, feeling uncomfortably aware that his new leader was watching him. Just hours ago, he had slain his alpha and many others and now he was sitting in the same room as him. He gently scooped up cobwebs, keeping his head down as he moved towards the massive male. He easily trumped Daedalus in size, which was uncommon, for though he was lean he was also tall.

indent“So your name is Daedalus?” He asked, his voice deep and slightly menacing.
indent“Yes.” Dae responded quickly.
indent“And you are a healer of some sort?”
indent“Yes.”

indentDaedalus shuffled towards him, apprehensive. He placed the cobwebs on his biggest wound, which was a deep puncture wound, just between shoulder and neck. Daedalus knew that if it had been just a few centimetres up, Erebus would probably be dead. And Diablo alive.

indentMean and harsh as he was, he was a leader to Daedalus. Besides, the passing moons since Mira arrived were much better. It was a softer life, a kinder one. He quite liked it, but others were not as fond of the idea.

indentDaedalus sighed. Perhaps, even if Diablo wasn’t killed by Erebus, he would’ve ultimately been ended by his own chaotic pack.

indentBut they wouldn’t, they couldn’t kill him with just one fierce battle. They couldn’t kill him and his nine lives in one battle. It was unheard-of. But Erebus did it.

The early dawn light spilled out from the mountain peaks, casting the castle in a beautiful red glow. A black, kangal-like dog looked out onto a courtyard from his balcony, two dogs at the doors leading to his bedchamber, acting as his guards.

indent“Soon enough I will begin the process of assembling the members of my imperial decurion.” The black canine explained, his voice low. Though quiet, his voice still possessed a deep menace to it.

indent“And all those ambitious shall fight for it.” Another canine replied, their voice smooth and masculine. “Who do you expect is to win, my Imperator?”

indentThe dog shook his head before pointing his muzzle outwards, towards the courtyard walls. “Do you believe I will tell you, Diomedes?”

indentThe harlequin dane shrugged before changing the subject. “A rogue has been scented in the western borders, near to the stone house ruins. My patrol team found it and went after it, though they seemed to have evaded us.”

indentErebus looked interested, sliding his crimson gaze over to one of his most faithful dogs. “Send another patrol out after them. Bring Vesper, I would like you to see if she is as talented at tracking as she claims to be.”

indentDiomedes nodded his head, giving his a respectful dip of his head before being dismissed.

indentErebus sat in silence for a moment, watching those who wandered about the courtyard until he felt satisfied with the activity. He then rose himself to his paws, passing his two guards, Cauis and Xenos. “One of you, do remember to tell Daedalus that he must meet me at the gardens by sun high. We must be off to herb hunt.” The aksaray malaklisi smirked at the surprised look on Xenos face. Truth was, he would be doing more than just searching for a few silly flowers, he would be going to talk to the gods to receive his nine lives.

weather overview: becoming cooler and cloudier

Those picture-perfect sunsets and scolding hot days are past us all now.
Those blue skies, happy cries... Now, the work begins. As the days become
shorter and the skies turn a withering gray, the kennels must muster up
the muscles beneath their now plump skins and work through the fall. This
year in particular does not seem to be a good one, so be advised to
stock up on both herbs and prey.

concerns: rising sickness, slowly dwindling prey and herbs,
birthing becomes slightly more dangerous.

seasonal prey: deer and hog are known to become common
as autumn prevails, so if the kennels are ready for the challenge then
they are expected to go after these creatures.

Mira sighed, hoping to come across something interesting. Her ears twitched as she heard barking in the distance. She bounded towards the noise and came across another German Shepherd.

He blinked at her. "Finally, someone heard me!" he was on the other side of the Rocky River, which meant he was definitely not on the territory, so Mira didn't have to chase him off. "Umm...hello."

The loner nodded across the stream. "This your territory?" Mira nodded. "I was wondering if I could trespass just a little bit to collect some herbs. It's better to have a stock than not to when you get hurt." Mira shook her head fiercely. "Sorry mister. You set one paw and and you'll find yourself running into a hidey hole with your tail between your legs."

"Ooh, fierce." Mira's hackles raised. "Just go away." she snarled. She turned her back on him and started padding down the river when the loner called out to her. "Wait!"

She whipped around. "I told you to go away. Great Ancestors!" "Wait." he said.

"I smell the scent of other dogs on you. Are you...are you part of a pack?" Mira wrinkled her nose. "Packs are for wolves. I am part of a Kennel, however." The loner's eyes widened. "Do you think I might have a chance of joining. I could be, like, a medicine dog."

Wait... Mira though. This dog could be the second Shaman. It will be nice for Fruit-bat to have company, and Alpha is looking for more dogs.

"Sure." Mira voiced. "Although we'll have to check with Alpha."

"Are you sure?" Alpha asked, his brown gaze searching the newcomer. "Yes." the loner, who Mira had learned was named Frostbite, rumbled. "Then by the power of the Ancestors, you are now the second Shaman of Dark Leaves." Mira raised her voice to howl with the other members of her Kennel. The number of dogs had just risen to six.

CURRENTLY: (Tenor's POV)
Tenor sighed. He layed his head down on his paws, thinking. How nice it would be to get another reliant. The hunting parties would catch more prey, and scouting missions would be more successful with another nose.

"What on Earth!" barked a voice from the entrance. Tenor was out of the Kennel Den in moments. Alexus, who had been guarding the entrance, was facing off with a Rottweiler. "Alexus, what is going on?"

"This dog says he wants to join the Kennel! We don't need a pushy dog here! Please, Alpha, make him go away." Tenor shook his head. "What is your name, lone dog?"

"Max. I was guided here by the Ancestors."

"Oh." Alexus said. "In that case, welcome to the Dark Leaves Kennel, Max the Reliant."

Seria excitedly ran out the nursery while her pups slept. Today, she can finally get out that stuffy place! With Petunia, her pups and Seria's pups getting bigger, it was starting to get a little cramped. She ran up to Sol, who was giving Bohemian the all clear to continue his duties. "Guess what, Sol!" she shouted.
"Argh! Goodness, Seria! You scared me!" he yelled.
"Oh, sorry. I've just been quiet for so long that I'm happy to be my usual self again," she said.
"Oh, yeah?"
"Yes! Today, the pups are old enough to be tenderpaws!" she squeaked.
"That's great!" he barked.
"Yes. The ceremony will be later today. I also can resume doing those kind of things." The two then discussed who would be their mentors. They wanted the best for the pups but also wanted ironteeth who haven't trained a tenderpaw a chance. The chose their choices and Seria said that she had other business to attend to. It was going to be a busy day!

Tobi and Lilac had just woken up. They sleepily walked out into the clearing where Ilia waited for them. "Gee, what's with you two?" she asked.
"More like what's with you?" Lilac replied. "Why are you so chipper already?"
"Oh, Tulip makes me wake up early. She says it's so we can find fresh herbs bright and early. Something to do with water moisture..." she said and her voice trailed off in deep thought.
"Maybe we should get up earlier..." Tobi groaned.
"I'll worry about that some other time," Lilac yawned. As Tobi and Lilac were waking up, Ilia talked to them about things she learned. They wouldn't understand everything but it felt good to info dump on someone who cared. With their bleary eyes, they nodded with her words.
"Sounds like you learned a lot. That means you'll be handy in an emergency," Lilac said.
"Why, of course! Although, there's still a lot to learn of course," she nodded. "What about you guys?" Tobi was about to open his mouth when Seria came up to them.
"Hello, you three! Are you all well?"
"Oh, yes. Thank you for asking," Ilia replied.
"That's great! Well, today I have exciting news," she explained. The three tenderpaws perked their ears. "It's getting about that time you became ironteeth or a full shaman. Later today, I will tell the ancestors of my decision."
"Really!? It feels like I became a tenderpaw just yesterday!" Tobi squeaked.
"Haha, well behave yourselves. Oh, and look forward to the ceremony today!" The she wandered off and continued her stroll throughout the kennel.
"Ceremony?" they all asked to each other.

It was the afternoon and Seria was ready to start the ceremony. With help from Petunia, Ark, Callie and Mitty were looking stunning. She turned to the excited pups and told them to follow. She stood on a boulder to look out at the kennel and called for a ceremony. Dogs from every nook and cranny came running.

"Hello, everyone. It's been a while since I've done this. I hope Sol has been taking care of you all well," she started. She paused as the kennel began to mumble to each other. "Well, I'm back to my duties which can only mean one thing! Sol's and I's pups are old enough to be tenderpaws! Please come forward, Ark, Callie and Mitty." The three little pups sat right in front.
"We will start with Callie. She is a spunky young dog ready to prove herself. With her mentor, I have chosen someone with quite the attitude to match. Pippa, please come to the front," she said. Pippa gasped and trotted to the front. Callie gave her a smile.
"Pippa, would you like to take Callie as your tenderpaw?"
"I would love to," she smiled and gave Callie a lick on the head. They moved away and it was Mitty's turn next.
"A bit of an eccentric fellow, I can see Mitty becoming quite the formidable irontooth. And I'm not just saying that because I'm his mother," Seria said. The crowd quietly laughed. "I trust that Mitty's mentor will teach him a lot. Arwin, please come to the front." After a quick formal discussion, Arwin agreed to be his mentor. He was looking forward to the training. The two stepped aside.

"Finally, we have Ark. He also looks like he'll become a great irontooth. Although some discipline is handy too!"
Ark gave a cheeky smile and the crowd laughed.
"Deciding on his mentor was a tough choice, but together Sol and I have decided on the perfect dog to do the job. Rusty, please come forward," she said. Rusty looked surprised and carefully trotted up.
"Rusty, do you wish to take Ark on as your tenderpaw?" she asked him.
"Yes, I would. Thank you so much for this opportunity," he nodded. With that, the ceremony was over. The mentors took their tenderpaws out training and Seria was happy to be back in business. Once everything was sorted, she headed out to speak to their ancestors.

Meanwhile, Bella, Rowan and Kanan were talking to a new visitor. His name was Nico and he introduced himself as a self-proclaimed adventurer.

"Well, you roam the vast lands and travel the seven seas! ...Not that I've actually been near an ocean though," Nico explained.
"I see... So, what do you think of our kennel then?" Bella said.
"Let's see... It's rather homey and it's in a great spot..." he nodded to himself.
"What about you join us then? We can have adventure too," Rowan said.
"That's a fair point... But I don't know..." The conversation went quiet as he thought about it.
"If you stay with us you'll be protected," Bella said.
"You'll also always have food," Kanan added.
"Wow! That's cool! But still..." he trailed off.
"You can think about it. We'll ask you next moon," Rowan said. "Stay with us for now." The three dogs left and left Nico to himself. He went over his choices as he watched kennel life...

THE SIELNT BROTHERS
the silent brothers are a group made of feral canis lupus familiaris—and being a brother is usually an unchangeable fate. once sworn into the brotherhood, they must undergo a series of rituals that will turn them into silent brothers, and change their name—symbolic of their new lives as brothers, and not lone dogs. they are the keepers of the lore of the brothers. they are archivists, researchers, and scholars. those who are specifically chosen are healers and priests. being archivists, they keep extensive record of all transactions, operations, and history of the brothers within the confines of the silent city. additionally, they keep exhaustive records on all members of the brothers, and their records stretch even as far back since the beginning of their founding.

TERRITORY/BASE OF OPERATIONS
the silent city is their base of operations, or territory, if you will. it is an extensive and complex citiy of levels and chambers so vast and deep underground. found on the two upper levels of the city are it’s archives and council chamber. beyond this are several other levels mostly kept a secret from and off limits to non-brothers and sisters. at the lowest depths of the city are a series of levels which hold the necropolis of the brothers—the graveyard, ossuary, and mausoleums—where those who died in battle or other means are buried and entombed. aboveground, they are located in a sparsely populated village, with a river on their left separating them from the mountains, and on their right, a dense forest. to the south is a beach, a little ways off from the village is a farm.

THE RANKING SYSTEM
the council
alpha— the alpha has the power to do whatever he’d like to the brotherhood, and is only limited by the power of the gods they worship. gabriel the silent was their founder and the first alpha whom was chosen by the gods—most of the time, however, the alpha position is passed down to the beta when the alpha dies or retires. this is not always the case, however, because the beta can be challenged for the rank of alpha if a canine believes they are more suitable for the position.
beta— the second in command of the brotherhood, the beta is hand picked by the alpha, and usually, the alpha will pick an older irontooth, as younger ironteeth are usually too unaccustomed to looking over the brotherhood. the alpha position is passed down to the beta when the alpha dies or retires. this is not always the case, however, because the beta can be challenged for the rank of alpha if a canine believes they are more suitable for the position.
healer— the healer is always chosen by the gods, and is given the Sight—an ability which allows them to communicate with the gods in their dreams, and to point out omens. they are also the bearers of prophecies, and use herbal remedies to heal sick or wounded brothers.
priest— the priest is the leader of their annual worshiping of the gods, and preforms religious rituals and ceremonies with the healer, such as brotherhood initiation.
the middle class
wardens— also known as sentires or guards, the wardens are a group of elite brothers enlisted with the duty to guard the entrances to the silent city, and the nursery for nursing or pregnant brood dames.
ironteeth— the warriors and hunters of the brotherhood, older ironteeth are given the utmost respect, and even after graduation at the age of thirteen months old, young ironteeth look up to the senior warriors and are told there is always more that can be learned from them.
tenderpaws— from the age of six months up to the age of thirteen or fourteen months, tenderpaws are older pups who train and learn underneath the ironteeth. upon graduation and passing their assessment, they are welcomed among the irontooth ranks as fully fledged members of the brotherhood.
midwives— are she-dogs who have experience as nursing mothers and in giving birth to pups, and they too like senior ironteeth are given the utmost respect. they aide the healers and nursing or pregnant mothers alongside their irontooth duties. some times, they retire from ironteeth life, and become permanent brood dames.
brood dames— are she-dogs who are pregnant with or nursing pups. being the bearers of the life of the brotherhood, they too are treated with the utmost respect. most times, they will return to irontooth duties once their pups are tenderpaws.
gnaws— gnaws are canines who have crippling injuries that make them unable to do regular irontooth duties. instead, they are used to inscribe stories and information for the archives onto bones.
the lower class
omegas— omegas are canines who have betrayed the brotherhood, killed a brother, eaten out of turn, or failed initiation. they are the lowest of all canines, and are treated with disrespect and cruelty unless they have proved themselves worthy to return to ironteeth duties.
