Ildefonso was disappointed with how his patrol went, but he didn’t really have a choice in how to proceed. It was stay in the middle of his territory never facing up to failure or actually expand his herd. It wasn’t a hard choice, especially as a warrior shouldn’t be a coward.

the herd of the starry night is quite mysterious. these horses keep to themselves and don't like to mix with the other herds at gatherings. but when these horses are alone with their herd, they can all be themselves. the horses of this herd are all very loyal and honest horses who value kindness. they are very strict on respect and it is quite rare for them to start fights with other herds. the herd of the starry night lives at the top of a mountain with a lake and a forest nearby. this herd's main skills are endurance and agility. they are very resistant to cold weather. most horses rely on their brain and like to outwit the enemy instead of fighting them to death. this herd is full of colors and sizes and no horse is left out for their looks. they are known as a herd that prefers to stay out of fights but will stand up for their allies. the herd of the starry night is very close to starclan and has a strong belief in them. this herd also has some strict traditions. for a weanling to become a guard or a scout, they need to survive on their own for three days. one in the mountains, one at the forest and one at the lake. on the night of the third day, they will put their nose to the water of the lake and the herd of the night sky will tell them what they did right and what they did wrong. if a weanling is in danger, the herd will send out some guards to help them. if a weanling fails, they must train until their mentor finds them ready to try again. this is sometimes very dangerous as a few mountain lions roam on the south side of the mountains and a pack of wolves lives in the forest.

Nature: The River Valley herd are led by a strong, fair stallion, whose good attitude peters down to even the youngest foal. They are not superstitious, and do not believe in anything magical or godly. The world is made to be explored, enjoyed, and survived and that is precisely what the herd is about. Survive, thrive, and enjoy. They are quite smart and savvy, having a wide range of experiences among them, all contributing to a collective intelligence.
Territory: As their name suggests, this herd live along the banks of a river in the lowlands, grass ranging along it, with trees bordering either side of the meadows. They are closer to humans that other herds, but still enough of a distance away that they are only bothered by them in the warmer months. There are small sandy beaches in a few places to roll in, and access to some of the best drinking spots.
Reputation: The herd do not brag, and they do not actively try and make enemies, but the stallion will not tolerate fools, and has very little time for the 'airy fairy' herds, as he calls them. They are fair and non-judging, and generally, are regarded as friends or simple acquaintances with other herds.
Leader: The lead stallion is a domestic stallion turned wild, and this leads him to understand men and their horses and dogs, etc, quite well. He is quick when dealing with men, and can often keep his herd safe from them. Not even the strongest though, can keep his herd completely protected.
Members: The members of the herd are a mixed bunch of horses, all different colours, and all different breeds. Some are feral, having escaped the domestic life, and others are completely wild, never knowing the touch or feel of a human. Generally though, the horses of the River Valley are well put-together, neat and tidy, and just generally attractive.

Everest hovered nervously several paces away from Daïa, a worried look on his face as he watched his heavily pregnant mate move around the clearing, nibbling at grass. "Bale." Everest called, not taking his eyes off of his mate. Bale looked up from where he was talking quietly with the new guard, Altai. The deputy excused himself and hurried over to join the leader.
"Is everything okay?" Bale asked, looking over to where Daïa was. The young mare had now been joined by Cristal, who was talking excitedly about something.
"I want you to take someone with you and find a healer. Daïa will be having her foal soon, I want to make sure she is safe." Everest said. Bale dipped his head slightly and turned to gather his patrol.[ Bale, Cristal and Altai go searching for a healer ]

Sitting up almost like a dog he looked at Jupiter, "I thought I smelled a wrangler just on the edge of our territory when I was searching for herbs." Jupiter looked up, chewing the grass slowly as he thought. "Well we need to keep an eye out then." Cosmos nodded in agreement before rolling in the patch of dirt again. Although the two stopped abruptly as a very pretty but frantic blue eyed mare came running out of the bush. The whinny and nicker she made clearly showed she was scared or worried of something. Darkened Cosmos was quick to get on his feet, and Jupiter gave a firm aggressive stomp as she started to come closer, but as she came closer the two noticed she had a rope around her neck and it was dragging on the ground. She came screeching to a firm halt. Her steps constant and frantic as she looked at the two. "I-I ran." Although she started to calm down as Nysa was on another territory rather then the one she was perviously on. "We can help get that off you." Cosmos stepped towards her and she stepped back but then held her ground. She was brave and Jupiter noted that. "I am guessing you ran from man?" Nysa looked him over and then gave a quick nod. "A wrangler that had a hold of me for a few days." Cosmos looked at Jupiter with a slightly worried look and Jupiter looked at the new comer. "Well I am Blazing Jupiter and this is Darkened Cosmos. We are a very small herd if you couldn't tell be we are happy for you to join us. And we can help you take that off." Nysa nodded her head a bit and looked at the two stallions. "My name is Nysa and that wold be greatly appreciated."

Bale stood next to Everest, watching as Mandara, the healer, led Daïa away from the herd. Everest flicked his tail nervously.
"We should busy ourselves, it could take a while." Bale said to Everest before nudging his leader in the other direction. The dark brown stallion looked at his deputy, before looking back after the healer and his mate, clearly worried.
"Everest, come on." Altai called from where he was waiting with Cristal. Everest sighed and hurried after the group.

"This is good." Mandara said to Daïa, halting in her steps. Daïa grunted in pain before easing herself onto the ground beneath a tree.
The brown and white speckled mare looked up at Mandara before settling onto her side, her flank heaving heavily. "You'll be fine,
dear." Mandara said, nuzzling Daïa. "This foal will be out of you in no time."

To the stallion, his two main goals is to maintain a territory and build a thriving herd. And without a territory, none of that could happen. With a dreary sigh, the stallion lowered his head and trudged on, hoping for some luck. Not but minutes later, Casanova stepped into a field engulfed by a fog. He lifted his head, immediately alert by entering the new terrain. He found himself trotting farther into the fog, a calm coming over him. It was then that he felt at home. Stopping to look around, the fog began to dissipate and reveal the rolling plains of green grass. A joyful shriek lifted into the air as the overjoyed stallion pranced around in the new land. For this was his new territory.
It had been a few days since Casanova acquired his new territory. During that time, he had scouted out the whole terrain and made sure to ward off any dangers. For Casanova had big hoped for his new hope. He hoped to bring in more horses, mares and stallions, building his own herd. With that, he will fulfill his legacy and live a happy life. But of course, he had much work to do. Casanova had to find those horses and bring them in, while making good decisions for the safety of the herd. Picking up his pace, the stallion went to patrol.[ Casanova is on patrol ]

Number of Horses: 1Dante was walking along the river again. The end of fall and the brink of winter set his hair on end, and he could almost smell the snow in the wind. A light breeze shuffled his light mane, and, after one last look around, he moved back into the treeline across an increasingly sparse stretch of grass. He would have to start moving towards his winter pastures, even lower down that he already was. He had it better than some of the other herds he knew, though, and knew that those in the mountains would also be starting to move. If only he had a herd mate... even one or two other horses could make the difference.
He kept moving through the trees, PATROLLING his current territory, always alert and on the lookout for other horses, or something worse.Leader:

WEATHER: it is currently fall. the trees are nearly bare now! herbs are shriveling up, so you may need to venture onto another herd's territory to find them. the first cold front of winter is fast approaching - now is the time to prepare your shelters, especially for the young ones.
