On your way out of the lab the professor stops you.
"Can you please take this with you?" They hand you a pokemon egg
"I hope you don't mind carrying this around with you, and you can keep whatever hatches from it."

Junipers eyes widened as she took the fragile egg into her hands. Her eyes shined eagerly as she spoke: “Professor, I’ll do everything in my power to keep this egg safe from harm!” And with that, she exited his office with a quick “Goodbye Professor!” And went on her way. As the door shut behind her, she whipped out her spanking new pokeball. “Rhea!” Her totodile sprang out of its home, all four legs extended outwards before it landed steadily on two legs with a soft ‘Totodile!’ Juniper felt oddly proud of the Pokémon, and reached out a hand to stroke the back of her head. “Where she would go from here?” She asked the Pokémon, as if expecting a response when all it answered with was: “Totodile!” “I guess the forest would be a good start...” she murmured to herself, as she padded over to the shaded woodland, Rhea following behind her happily.

As you walk to the shaded woodland you come across a wild cutiefly
Upon closer examination, it seems as if one of its wings is broken.

Juniper softly padded through the forest, attempting at keeping her footsteps light as not to scare away any curious Pokémon that may be passing by. Her eyes darted from the shake of a tree branch, to the rustle of a bush, eager for anything she may come across. One certain movement caught her eye though, and she immediately looked towards the sound to see a small bug Pokémon buzzing by the ground, as though it were attempting to take off, but couldn’t quite get there. Identifying this Pokémon was easy, it had distinctive features that she recognized. Now catching it, not so much. Or so she thought, because as she tiptoed closer to the Pokémon, she noticed one of its wings was limp. This must be why it couldn’t fly! Rhea was getting a bit too close to the Cutiefly, and she didn’t want to stress the poor thing, so she stuck her foot out to halt the totodile. Juniper figured since the pokemon was already weak, she wouldn’t have to battle it. So, hoping that the cutiefly didn’t put up a fight, she rolled a new pokeball towards it.

The pokeball began to shake before ultimately stopping, containing your new pokemon.
