- Silverstar takes pride in her clan although she simultaneously fears for it. The stars' refusal to send an experienced Aura of Ripples makes her panic until Sunflower, renamed Langsat, comes along. With her joins Birdsong (renamed Rhizomecinder), and Pandan (Sprout, renamed Basmatiswerve), who stumbled upon the two travelers while returning from his own journey. On her way back to camp, Silverstar also meets Argentium (begrudgingly renamed Tarnishedfeather) who she nags into joining the clan. | Aldernight and Arilwrath seem too busy to provoke each other. The former takes training his torrent seriously; curiously, the latter has taken Rhizomecinder under his wing. | Rhizomecinder realizes his crush on Chambredancer; however, he dares not mention it. | Langsat tolerates Ignitionpaw's cheeky demeanor only because he's more knowledgeable than her in local herb usage. | Shoreabranch chooses questionable names for her kits. ▶ OVERVIEW

CascadeClan shelters in a small, lush, fertile river-valley centered around a pond. The weather is mostly warm, moist, and humid. A farm can be found on the hill northwest of Cascade known as the Ryefields. Wheat is grown there and it makes the perfect hunting ground. To the east of Cascade is a jungle filled with exotic creatures known as the Wildcries. It's rumored that another Clan lives deep in the tropics, but no cat of Cascade has ever met one of theirs. The jungle is the second hunting ground, but only skilled cats can go in there, as the Wildcries are a very dangerous place. Cats of Cascade also fish in the pond. However, it will easily flood during the rain. Cascade cats' dens are out in the open. They sleep in nests made of lush grass. All cats sleep in the same area regardless of rank. However, sick cats sometimes stay at the farm. Cascade cats can be found in all colors, though some are less common than others. Grey and black-furred felines are seen often, with russet coming in as a close second. Brown is significantly rarer for whatever reason, as is cream. Solid white is much more common than partially white, though these felines rank in between greys and brown, and of course, only shorthaired cats or naive, pampered, or lost kittypets dare to venture in the wilds near the equator.

Loudstar weaved their way through the lush undergrowth, stopping occasionally to scent the air. The brown tabby had been out all morning but had only found a single wigeon and no cats. The leader knew that cats resided in the forest but they seemed to be very good at hiding, maybe if they strayed closer to the twoleg area they could find potential clanmates. Loudstar was just about to give up, they hadn’t even got a whiff of a cat all morning. But just as the tabby was about to turn around a loud yowl erupted in the air. They whipped their head around, quickly approaching the sound.
They crouched down, noticing the trees thinning out, and perched on the edge of the forest. “Leave me alone, Howl!” growled the, presumed, source of the original sound. Loudstar heard claws scrap the rocky ground, “We spotted it first,” growled a new voice. A third voice quickly piped in, “Yea, we spotted it first!”. “Hand over the bird,” the second cat hissed, “and maybe we’ll leave your ears intact!”
Loudstar flattened their ears, angry bubbling up in the scrawny feline. These bullies are trying to make this cat give up her catch! They heard the tom’s claws scrap over the stony floor again, indicating that he had moved towards the molly. That was the final straw, the leader’s anger boiling over.
They launched themself out of the bush and rammed into the large figure’s side. They knocked the bully over, the tom under them yowled loudly in surprise. He lashed his claws around, trying to make contact with the brown tabby grimalkin, only managing to slice a single claw through the smaller feline’s shoulder. Loudstar gritted their teeth, swiftly lashing their claws over the tom's cheek, “Leave her alone!” they hissed.
The tom hesitated, clearly not ready to give up the wigeon quite yet. “Howl, leave it!” the second tom hissed, “It's not worth it!” The tom wiggled out from under Loudstar, returning to his companion’s side, “This isn’t over…” the tom spat. The two toms swiftly ran away, leaving the leader and the molly alone. Loudstar panted, taking a moment before turning towards the molly and her wigeon, “Are you ok?”
The molly took a moment to respond, “Yes, yes, I’m fine, thank you.” The molly shifted, “Are you ok?” Loudstar’s attention was drawn to their throbbing shoulder, “Oh I’m fine, just a scratch,” they meowed back. The molly padded closer to Loudstar, stretching her nose out to sniff at the wound, causing the leader to jump slightly. “I know there are some cobwebs nearby,” the molly meowed, “I can dress your wound, if you’d like.” Loudstar thought about it for a moment before nodding her head, “I’d appreciate it…”
“Mink, my name is Mink,” the molly meowed back. “Loudstar,” The leader responded back. The molly swished her tail, “Follow me, try to keep pressure off your injured shoulder.” The leader obeyed the molly's order, limping over to her. The two grimalkins walked side by side, retreating into the safety of the trees.

“-and the fish was THIS big!” the pointed cat chripped, swinging their paws as wide as they could, a grin plastered on their face. “Mary said it was the biggest fish she’s ever seen,” the young cat settled back down, taking another bite out of the fish that laid between the two felines. Crane purred, dragging his tongue over his wet paws “I think the fish are bigger then they were last spring.” Dipper perked their ears, “are they?”, the young cat inquired, “I wish mama would let me fish..” they mumbled.
“I’m sure she’ll let you eventually,” Crane responded, “she promised to teach you to hunt when you turned 12 moons, didn’t she?” Dipper stomped their paws, “She did… but that's 5 whole moons away!!” they whined. The kitten dramatically slumped to the ground, murmuring in their most defeated voice, “I don’t think I’ll make it that long!”
Crane laughed, “you’ll survive.” The gray tom looked away from the kitten (who was now playing dead, trying to drive their point home further) , his eyes soon landing on a small group of cats. In the middle of the group stood a ragged-furred white tom with a large swad of cobwebs on his cheeks, I think that's Howl Crane thought. The large tom was meowed loudly but Crane was just a little too far away to hear.
“Hey Dipper, I have to split, it was nice seeing you again.” The young cat perked up, “Oh, ok! Do you want the rest of the fish?” Crane shook his head, “No, you can take the rest.” The cream cat sank their fangs into the fish, lifting it with as much effort as they could muster. The young grimalkin turned to leave, “Bye Crane!” As the kit started walking, Crane replied “Tell your mother I said hi!” The tom wasn’t sure if Dipper had heard him or not.
The tom quickly turned around and trotted over to Howl and the group, slowing his pace as Howl’s voice became audible. “-and then this… wild cat leaped out of the bushes and attacked me!” the white tom dug his long claws into the ground, “I had them pinned but they caught me off and struck my cheek. I could have easily defeated them but I decided to let that scrap of fur have that sick wigeon.” Crane narrowed his yellow eyes, noticed Howl’s companion Hawk shifting slightly. Just from Hawk’s body language, Crane could tell Howl was fabricating the actual story.
“My grandfather told me stories about a group of wild cats in the forest… but he said they’ve been gone for moons,” one of the gathered grimalkin’s muttered, shifting their fluffy tabby tail over their paws. Howl huffed, “I doubt there's a group in the forest, the forest is full of dangerous creatures… I’m sure they're just a new cat from the city.” The dirty tom stood up, bowing down into a stretch, “Come on Hawk, we’re leaving.” The scrawny brown tom quickly stood up and after Howl finished his stretch the two quickly walked away.
The gathered cats soon disbanded, walking in all different directions. The cat who spoke up was just about to leave but Crane quickly paced up to the tabby. “Hey, you! Wait a second!” The tabby jumped slightly and turned their head to Crane. “You said there was a group of cats in the forest?”
The tabby nodded, “Used to be, like I said, they’ve been gone for moons,” a confused look spread across their face, “Why do you ask?” Crane shrugged his broad shoulders, “I had just never heard of cats living in the forest before.” The tabby licked their chest, “my grandfather said they lived in a gorge, then they would hunt and train in the forest around it. It was always a interesting story.” Crane nodded “sounds like one.”
The tabby yawned “well… nice talking to ya, cya around,” the tabby turned back and continued to pad away. Crane sat back on his haunches, a group of wild cats huh…

Crane pricked his way through the dense undergrowth, the light that once fluttered through the branches overhead had almost disappeared by now. Maybe the cat was lying, maybe there were never wild cats in the woods and his searching was all for nothing. Maybe the gorge is too well hidden, Crane thought, what if he would never find it. The tom continued, his fears becoming more and more of a reality the farther he walked. But soon the gray-and-white tom noticed the group dip ever so slightly. The tom crouched down, slowly making his way through the thick bushes.
And there it was. The gorge.
His yellow optics narrowed, his sights landing on two felines lying on top of a tall, flat rock jutting out of the side of the camp. His eyes searched for a way down and soon spotted the steep path that led up. The tom stalked as quickly as he could to the otherside, taking a massive gulp before stepping on the step path.
The tom made his way slowly down the path, occasionally having to dig his claws into the stones to stop himself from sliding down. Every step sent a rain of pebbles down, causing an awful racket. Eventually the tom had safely made his way down, panting by the end of it. He glanced up at the cats on the rock who were now standing alert, their fur bristling. The gray feline stretched his tail straight up, hoping to show that he was of no threat to the two. The pair slowly made their way down from the rocks, the brown tabby was the first to reach the floor, “Who are you?” they meowed. Their voice was confident but Crane could tell they were slightly nervous.
“My name is Crane,” the gray-and-white tom dipped his broad head, “and I’ve come to join your group.”

Faunawisp watched as Jasminestar limped into camp with Lakedream hovering around him to support him if he falls. "Lakedream, go with your sister. She's with Whitelotus now." She ordered, narrowing her eyes at her mate. Jasminestar quietly passed by her, avoiding her gaze. Her temper flared, following him to their den. "What is wrong with you? You had a whole patrol with you to go after that cat, but you chose to be the hero!" Faunawisp hissed, stuffing his nest with extra feathers. She was still worried for him, but she wouldn't let him get off that easy.
"I thought I could handle it." He muttered, placing his chin on his paws.
"Oh, you handled it just fine I see. Nightroot told me that you lost a life dealing with that rogue!" She pushed, continuing. "We have a family, Jasmine. I don't want to be the only one to see our grandkits, you have to be careful!"
Jasminestar hissed. "This is my clan, Fauna! I will lay down all of my lives to protect it. You should of understood that when you agreed to stay here with me." He turned his back towards her.
Faunawisp felt a tear coming from her eye. She took a breath. "Fine. I'll just stress over your life while you stress over everyone else." She left the den.
Jasminestar felt his heart sink, knowing what he said went too far.


─ This Moon ─

Scorchfur had gathered all the guardians, apprentices included. He intended to set a schedule for the new patrols. "I need one bright and early in the morning, one in the after noon, and one at midnight. I expect the Midnight patrol to sleep a little longer and eat a little before they go out, I want you at your best psychical ability." He ordered. "I'm electing Grasscurl to lead the midnight patrols, he has shown me confidence and bravery when dealing with these rogues. I need everyone to stay in pairs, Aspenfur is even ordering the hunters to stay in pairs. I want the afternoon and morning border patrols to check in with the hunting patrols at the time to keep in check with each other." He sighed, shaking his head. "We are not fighting to kill these cats. We are fighting to protect ourselves. If the rogues decide to retreat, allow them to leave. I know it's hard, they've injured plenty of us and have malicious intent. However, we have our codes. We have honor. Let's not lower to their level... Meeting's over, come ask me if you have questions about what patrol you're on. Be viligent." He ended the meeting, sighing once more. He could feel the stress coming, however, he knew that Shoreclan would survive some brutes.

temperament
foresthall, the castle-city of the autumn court, is a place known for its beauty, vibrant scenery, and grandeur. it's sometimes called by outsiders as "the court of foxes" for good reason. the cats have a deadly, alluring charisma. they're impeccably mannered, coming across as benevolent and harmless. but don't be fooled, for their beauty can hide a truly deadly opponent. just like the foxes for which they were named, the environment of foresthall is highly competitive, with every cat, especially those of royal blood, intent on the throne. as a result, the cats are cunning; skilled in manipulation and deception. given the right incentive, these cats can be the first to stab you in the back, often without warning. daggers hide in men's smiles. you can never truly trust one of them unless you absolutely know them through and through, which is nearly impossible. they're the first to smile, but they work on an agenda and conceal their ulterior motives from prying eyes. the cats of foresthall often spend their days in reclusion. they are not very open to outsiders and stick to themselves. foresthall cats are known for being quite stubborn and set in their ways, preferring to follow tradition instead of embracing new ideas. whenever they do have to come out of their shell, it's not usually good. a cat's political standing can influence a great many things in the clan, from public reputation to blood-right and inheritance to even their right to compete for the throne. cats of foresthall are fiery and quick to their temper. they are not above utilizing callous and cutthroat tactics to achieve victory, and sometimes it seems like they're loyalty is only to themselves. like a fire out of control, these cats have a ferocious temper when provoked and won't back down until their opponent has either fled or died. flaws and fears of an individual are hidden away or at least conquered. in the end, however, these tactics ensure the strength of the clan as a whole, since it ensures only the strongest of them survive.

worship
the autumn court worship one central heavenly molly called the mother. the mother is she who created all life in the court. because of this, she-cats tend to have a more dominant role in the clan - occupying higher positions and having more power. (e.g. the monarch and the king consort). when a cat dies, presuming they have lived a life of virtue and duty, their spirit meets the mother, who takes them into heaven. cats of foresthall often recite a funeral prayer for the dead blessing their soul and wishing them safe passage into the afterlife: mother hold you. may you pass through the gates, and smell that immortal land of milk and honey. may you fear no evil. feel no pain. may you go, and enter eternity.

hierarchy
the hierarchy of foresthall is vastly different from those of other clans, and is somewhat reminiscent of an ancient, mediaeval kingdom. the clan is ruled by a she-cat with the title: autumn monarch. unlike in most clans where a monarch may enter office through bloodlines or through deputyship, the monarch is selected through political strength and her leadership skills. she does not gain the nine lives as per usual. the monarch's name, honoring the undying fire of foresthall, ends in -flame. the mate of the monarch is usually referred to as the "lord of autumn" or more commonly, "king consort." however, the king consort actually has little power compared to the queen. together, they are the ruling pair of foresthall. their kits are referred to as "scions." while scions have great social standing within foresthall and usually take on high-blooded roles in the court, they are not immediately guaranteed the throne due to the way the monarch is selected. the monarch has an advisor who keeps her counsel on court matters. the advisor has similar duties to a deputy (e.g. managing patrol, assigning mentors, delivering letters from members of the clan to the monarch, etc.) the court healer and their apprentice of foresthall is called the "soothsayer" and the "soothsayer's courier' respectively. the military of the autumn court is collectively called the bane who are commanded by the general. the general's squire is essentially his second in command, who accompanies him into battle. after the general dies, the squire ascends to the general's rank and selects a new general in their place. the hunters, scouts, and messengers, are collectively referred to as the "redwings." redwings technically speaking rank below the bane. apprentices in foresthall are referred to as initiates. queens are called "mothers" and kits are called "saplings." the elderly are called "veterans." however, these cats are unusually sparse. they're chased off from patrol, as they are deemed unfit for court life. only those with great military distinction retire in peace.

territory
the territory of foresthall is mostly a dense taiga / spruce forest at the crest of a mountain range. the leaves of the trees are a bedazzling latticework of various shades of red, orange, and gold, making it seem as if the court is stuck permanently in autumn. it is from here that foresthall gets its renowned beauty. the air is laced with a sweet autumnal fragrance, like ripe apples and roasted chestnuts. the climate is rather cold here in the court, and there are rumors that it is this frigidness that led to the icy demeanor of the foresthall cats.

physiology
the cats of foresthall are as beautiful as their court, and move with easy, confident grace. all cats tend to sport long, thick, pelts that help to combat the cold. the females tend to be svelte and graceful, while the males are generally more muscular. while the cats of foresthall have pelts that come in all colors of the rainbow (metaphorically speaking) lighter dappled pelts, such as bengals, tabbies, calicos, or tortoiseshells, are more common so as to help blend into the foliage.
