Shallowstream - 9/10. I really like the way this name sounds and I think the flow is pretty good, but I do find if a bit curious that a kit would be named "Shallowkit". That's a personal preference, though, and I like this name overall!

--

Poppyheart - dark reddish she-cat with yellow eyes. At fourteen moons old, she is the medicine cat apprentice, and very proud of her achievements. She may come off as a bit of a braggart to others, but those close to her know her dedication to the art of healing and how insistently she stands up for other cats. She never tolerates bullying and has very strong morals.

Murkflower - dark grey tabby she-cat with green eyes. An experienced queen, she has raised many litters, and given that her Clan is very accepting of outsiders, she has fostered several, as well. She has a witty sense of humour and is very social and unrepentant, and is a surprisingly strict parent to those unfamiliar with her.

Beefang - golden-brown she-cat with orange eyes and distinctive tabby markings. Brash and confident, Beefang has compete assurance in her skills and has always had a bit of a rebellious nature. She is equally skilled in both hunting and fighting, giving her the suffix -fang, and is very competitive, always challenging others to races and contests. She doesn't usually think before she acts or speaks, however, meaning she often ends up putting her foot in her mouth, so to speak, fumbling to fix any feelings she's hurt.

Appleface - longfurred ginger tom with green eyes and white markings. Rakishly handsome, Appleface enjoys flirting with everyone and anyone despite being aromantic (though he will back off if the other is uncomfortable with it), and he takes much pride in his appearance, often waking up early just so he can spend an extra-long time grooming out his luxurious fur and lamenting whenever he gets himself filthy. He has trouble speaking of his feelings to others, though, often hiding any negative emotions beneath a veneer of confidence and self-assurance.

Kitty says...

Postby Sarcastic Kitty » Tue Sep 13, 2016 6:45 pm

Just a fair warning, I am NOT a traditional namer. I like to think outside the box so a lot of my name's are very unique and different. Also I roleplay Medicine Cats a lot so you may see a theme here. I also mainly rp she-cats

    Name Rates
Poppyheart - 10/10 I can see nothing wrong with this name. In my experience, the prefix Poppy is hard to find a suffix for that flows, but Poppyheart rolls off the tongue and is very appealing to hear.

Murkflower - 6/10 I like the name... Murk is unique and the suffix flower makes you think of a black rose or some other dark flower. However i feel the flow is off a lot with this one.

Beefang - 10/10. Nothing wrong with this name. Given hee description and personality, both Bee and Fang work perfectly and they flow well together.

Appleface - 10/10 personally when i saw this name, I immediately thought of a flame point Siamese but he ounds like a cure cat. I love the flow, I love how unique it is. Face isn't a typical suffix. If im correct the only one we saw in the books was the medicine cat Barkface. So its nice to see the suffix rerurn.

    My Cats;
Sunspots - A snow white tomcat with medium length fur. His ears/the top of his head and his long, feathery tail are all dark ginger tabby. He had vibrant eyes, one a brilliant amber and the other frosty blue. He is a notorious flirt, a bit of a slacker, but he loves his clan, especially his nieces Cloudpaw and Kindlingpaw, who he treats like daughters.

Cloudrunner - a long haired, snowy white she-cat with deep blue gray eyes. She was given the prefix Cloud for her fluffy white fur, and Runner for her a and agility. She is a medicine cat of her clan, very loyal and dedicated. She is very compassionate but also very stubborn and impatient.

Twigwhisker - a small, brown tabby Tom with medium length fur. He has white paws, chest, belly, and muzzle and green eyes. Very timid and withdrawn.

Brackenfrost - a thick furred, light brown tomcat with thick, jet black stripes. He has a white chest, belly and paws. He has frosty blue eyes, which is where frost came from. Bracken is due to his coat coloring. Very ambitious, rude, impatient and controlling.

Redpoppy - a pretty calico and white she-cat with blue eyes. Her fur is mostly dominated with large patches of black and dark ginger with white interspersed throughout

    » Hiya!
I'm not a traditional namer, and I generally rate and make names depending on how they fit the character, and quite a few of my names are in a lyrical fashion because I reckon they fit the cat, and because they sound nice and roll off the tongue well.

    • Sunspots; 5/10 ;It's a nice name overall, and not one I see too often. I don't see people using 'spots' all that often either, Though I reckon the suffix doesn't fit him all that much. If he's a Turkish Van (which I presumed from his description), I don't think he'd have all too many spots. Maybe Suntail or Sunface would be a good name for him?

    • Cloudrunner; 8/10 ;I reckon this name fits her rather well, and it's nice to see a Medicine Cat named after something else rather than their healing ability! Unique name too, I don't see '-runner' being used much.

    • Twigwhisker; 9/10 ;Very nice name, if a bit plain, but it does fit him very well! Not much else I can say on that.

    • Brackenfrost; 7/10 ;I reckon it fits him rather well, and '-frost' is a very well suited suffix for a cat with such a cold personality, and to his blue eyes as well. A popular suffix I tend to use, as well!

    • Redpoppy; 5/10 ;Mm, it's a nice name, I must admit, though it's not one that tickles my fancy all too much. Is there a particular reason why she was given the suffix '-poppy'? Otherwise, I don't see too well why her suffix would fit her all that well.

    » My Cats

    • Redflame; Redflame is an overly exciteable, sassy and hot tempered she-cat, who doesn't exactly take very kindly to any newcomers. However, that attitude will change if there are kits around, as she wishes to one day have two or three kits of her own. She is a primarily red calico shecat with amber eyes, medium fur, and average sized paws.

    • Dapplefrost; Dapplefrost is a generally shy shecat when it comes to meeting new cats, and was rather jittery as a kit. But, when she grew older, she grew out of that and became the sassy, loyal shecat she is today. She can come across as cold, and her glare can be enough to shut a kit up in seconds. She does her job as the Medicine Cat very well, and it's hard to make her lose focus once she's down in concentration. She has a fair bit of an attitude, and doesn't like cats telling her how to do her job. She is a tortie-calico shecat with icy blue eyes, a narrow face and sharp ears. Her chest and paws are white, and most of her coat is a dark brown, almost black whilst scattered with white and brown patches.

    • Blackwhisker; Blackwhisker is a quiet, yet friendly Tom, who tries to make friends with everyone just so he can have cats to be around. He's very loyal despite his awkward shyness, and will always be there as a shoulder to cry on if you need him. He is a medium furred, white Tom with a black splotched coat and tail. Both of his ears are black, and he has warm, brown-amber eyes

    • Riverwish; This pretty little shecat is a quiet and thoughtful one, generally found in the medicine den helping out the medicine cats. She was never chosen as an apprentice, through she didn't let that dull her wishes and continuously helps out around there, and her clan generally accepts her as their third or stand in medicine cat. She's a silver bullseye tabby, with soft, lilac-blue eyes and soft, sleek fur. She has a habit of when she's alone, is to make a wish on the stars in Silverpelt for the health of her clan.

    • Brightstone; Brightstone is a Turkish Van Tom, with yellow eyes and small ginger splotches over his body. He has a nicked left ear and a few scars cris-crossed over his back leg. He is a blunt, brutally honest Tom who is more than suited to his role as deputy. He can come across as rude or stubborn at times, though he really just wants to do the best for his clan.

Redflame - 8/10. It has good flow and both the prefix and suffix make sense. It feels a little redundant to me, but that's a personal preference and it's a good name overall.

Dapplefrost - 8/10. Again, it flows well, and both sides of the name, especially the suffix, make perfect sense! She sounds like someone you would not like to cross, lol.

Blackwhisker - 8/10. I understand he's named Black- for his ears, though I still find it a little odd that a predominantly white cat would be named Black-. Again, though, that's just me, and this is a pretty solid name otherwise!

Riverwish - 9/10. This is a cute name for a cute character! She sounds lovely, and the name both sounds good and makes sense. Not much else to say here!

Brightstone - 10/10. I'm not too sure what it is about this name that I like so much, but I guess it just flows really well and is also very visually evocative! His prefix fits him very well, in particular, given his appearance.

--

Willowfoot - grey tabby she-cat with green eyes and a white chest, muzzle, and three white paws. She's gentle and can be somewhat shy to those she isn't too familiar with, but loosens up considerably around her friends, becoming loud and outspoken. She's a bit awkward overall and always strives to please others. However, she has a surprisingly sharp side to her and is very moralistic, absolutely detesting bigotry and always standing up for others. She is very speedy and quick on her paws, giving her the suffix -foot.

Craneface - heavily scarred light grey tabby she-cat with one good orange eye. She was one of the most promising apprentices of her generation until she was brutally attacked and almost killed by a badger, ruining her face and maiming her leg. However, determined to persevere and not let her injuries get the best of her, she worked as hard as she could after she recovered to catch up with the other cats her age, and came out the other side triumphant. She was given the suffix -face, a suffix often chosen to honour one's beauty, for in her Clan's eyes, she is endlessly beautiful for her bravery in defending the Clan. She is a highly respected warrior and is amiable, friendly, and exceptionally patient, though she has no tolerance for bullies.

Gullstream - grey-and-white patched tom with blue eyes. He's boisterous and friendly and extremely social, thriving off the energy of being with others. He is considered the best swimmer and fisher in the Clan, though he can be somewhat lazy at times when it's especially cold or hot out and he doesn't want to move. He is an incontrovertible flirt and flirts with pretty much everything that moves. Surprisingly enough, for such a self-assured tom as him, he doesn't work well under pressure and almost invariably panics.

Robinleaf - reddish tabby tom with amber eyes. Very quiet and withdrawn, as a kit, apprentice, and even now as a fully-fledged medicine cat, he doesn't enjoy socializing and prefers being by himself in some secluded corner somewhere, fiddling with his herbs or watching a beetle cross the grass. He is a prodigal healer, but gets embarrassed when it's mentioned because he doesn't like the spotlight on him. To the few he lets into his circle, he is awkward but quietly happy, and likes to engage in intellectual conversation.

Willowfoot - almost the perfect mental image of a cat with that name, but with a nice twist. 8/10
Craneface - the face suffix seems needlessly cruel, but I like the character, great personality 7/10
Gullstream - great suffix and a fitting prefix, but I don't know why I always associate gull- cats with shy, timid males. nice personality, but I've seen it before 7/10
Robinleaf - very nice personality, and a cute name to boot 8/10

silverbird is a very attractive semi-longhaired silver tabby tom. he is very quiet, even-tempered to the point of tranquility. the suffix -bird was given for his aloofish manner and skill in hunting. he is one of the rare warriors with a connection to starclan, so he helps out his clan's medicine cat, who has no belief.

pumpkincloud is a big cream tabby tom. he is loud and confrontational and doesn't like it when his patients and subjects argue with him. he is gluttonous and sometimes flirts with passing loners or kittypets, but the leader looks the other way due to his great medical ability. he secretly believes he wasn't meant for clan life at all, but doesn't want to change his current life. he has lost belief in starclan so he has a deal with his best friend who tells him all he needs to know. the suffix -cloud was given for his big belly.

    Name Rates
Silverbird - 10/10 I can see nothing wrong with this name. The name is veey fitting and believable, and overall it's just a veey cute name. Only thing i can say, is it sounds a bit feminine but that's just ny opinion and won't dock points because of it.

Pumpkincloud - 4/10 I don't really get this name to be honest. First, I'm not sure a cat would know what a pumpkin is as they are really things that grow in forests. Even if they did know what it was though, I'd see a ginger Tom, not cream. Cloud sounds okay though.

    My Cats;
Brightcloud - a fluffy white she-cat with ginger patches and big blue eyes. Daughter of Petalstep and Ravenstar. As a kit, Brightcloud received the prefix "Bright" for her colorful fur but it also fits her personality. She has an infectiously sunny disposition and its hard for any cat to dislike her. She is almost sickeningly optimistic, never gives up, and is always trying to help others. She was given the suffix "Cloud" for her gentle and patient nature.

Shortwhisker - a scrawny brown tomcat with white paws, chest, belly, and muzzle. He has vivid green eyes. He is a very timid and shy and spooks easily. He has very short whiskers.

Crowfoot - a black and white tomcat with blue gray eyes. Twin brother of Raventalon. Crowfoot is more energetic and easy going than his brother and rarely takes things too seriously. He fell in love with Petalstep long before Raventalon did and was heartbroken when she chose his brother over him.

Littlewing - a tiny speckled gray and white tomcat with a big personality. Despite his size his is a beight and outgoing tomcat who never fails to have a grin on his face.

Briarblossom - a petite, dark brown tabby she-cat. Her muzzle, chest, belly, and paws are all snowy white. She is a warm and helpful she-cat who's always looking on ths bright side

i am a traditional namer.
please do not be offended by how i rate, it's simply the naming form i'm most comfortable with
and enjoy the consistency it adds to worldbuilding. i use ailuronymy's system and you are under
no obligation to use any alternative names i may suggest <3
i usually rate up to five for prefix and up to five for suffix.

brightcloud, 10/10. her prefix and suffix both suit her lovely, and she seems like a lovely character.
shortwhisker, 4/10. i'm not a fan of naming fully for a single feature; from a distant, every cat who can see will see a brown cat, but they wouldn't be able to see his short whiskers.
crowfoot, 7/10. 'crow-' doesn't work for a bi-colour black-and-white tom, though could work for a black tom with <40% white markings as a general rule. '-foot' is used to note cats who are exceptionally fast, you didn't mention if he was fast but did say he was rather energetic.
littlewing, 6/10. i'm rather partial to the prefix 'little-' for some reason. '-wing' isn't used traditionally and you haven't mentioned enough about his skills for me to offer an alternative, but he sounds like a very charming character.
briarblossom, 6/10. i'd say 'briar-' works with her amount of white. '-blossom' again isn't a traditional suffix. '-flower' could work as an alternative if she's notably good and enjoys being around kits.

my cats
● cootflower, lanky, black tom with white markings on his chest, face and paws. recieved the suffix -flower due to being fatherly in nature and enjoys looking after kits; can often be found around the nursery, letting the queens have a break and allowing the kits attack him for hunting practice or telling them stories or bits about the clans traditions. he can be indecisive at times but is fiercely protective of the younger members of the clan. is a notably good mentor.
● mallowclaw, big white tom with blue eyes, deaf. received the suffix -claw due to his notable fighting skills. though reckless in his youth leading to his many scars, he prefers to sort things out with words whenever it is possible, but is an excellent strategist and one of the leader's go-to cats when battle is inevitable. he is a big softy despite his many battle scars that make him look imposing to other clans, and loves to spend time with his mate and kits. is very physically affectionate, almost always brushing off other cats. brother to hollynose.
● hollynose, pretty white molly with amber eyes, named for the blossoms of the holly tree. received the suffix -nose for her notable tracking skills; is a particularly adept at tracking in the rain. a medicine cat. she prides herself on being able to keep a level-head in almost any situation but can be very hard on herself; enjoys curling up with her brother when she's feeling down like when they were kits. sister to mallowclaw. in her rare free moments, she likes to hunt or play a quick game of hide-and-seek with any interested kits and/or apprentices.
● thistlewhisker, good-looking blue-grey classic tabby with green eyes. received the -whisker due to nir notable hunting skills; largely considered to be the best hunter in the clan but is modest about nir abilities. ne always tries to look on the bright side and has enjoyed listening to the elder's stories since ne was a kit, and often takes elder duties just to casually beg for stories of the clans mythology as ne works. as such, ne is an avid storyteller and enjoys entertaining others. is frustrated that ne cannot learn the other clans stories and mythologies as freely as nir own.
● sparrowstep, tiny black classic tabby molly with white markings on her face, paws and belly. she is very quick on her paws, nimble and constantly flitting about camp. known for being very stealthy, though is rather easily spooked - quick to react and always on high alert; good on patrol. absolutely loathes being alone and is a very social little cat. somewhat unassuming in nature, she is considered to be a bit of a chatterbox. she always seems to know everyone's secrets.

I'm a traditional namer, but will rate according to whatever style you use!

Cootflower - 10/10. Aside from being an adorable name overall, both the prefix and the suffix fit perfectly! It's great to see some toms being given the -flower suffix, for once, and from the looks of it, he definitely deserves it.

Mallowclaw - 11/10 because I love big cats that are huge sweethearts. The name fits perfectly, it's great to see a blue-eyed white cat who is actually realistically deaf for once, and he looks like a more than capable warrior. He reminds me of my own kitty Swannose, if I may take the liberty of saying that :D

Hollynose - 10/10. Nothing much to say here! She sounds like a lovely character and being a good tracker would definitely be useful for medicine cats.

Thistlewhisker - 10/10. Same as above, both prefix and suffix are spot-on, ne sounds adorable, and I absolutely adore characters that are great storytellers, too, so that's a plus. Storytelling makes up such a big part of worldbuilding Clan culture, so it's always great to see!

Sparrowstep - 12/10 for great use of the -step suffix! It's always nice to see it poking around, and as I find it incredibly difficult to make good -step cats, hats off to you. She definitely lives up to her name, and though I had to look up what a black classic tabby was (please excuse my ignorance of cat colourations //shot), her name fits her well in all aspects. Great job, overall.

Cranestripe - large, light grey she-cat with yellow-green eyes and pronounced tabby stripes. Being the daughter of the Clan leader and rather used to getting her own way, she can be haughty and somewhat bossy at times, but ultimately has good intentions and genuinely tries to help others, though she can get miffed when her help is refused. She is fairly good at swimming and fishing, but given that she comes from a water-based Clan, her skills are considered average, and she was therefore given the suffix -stripe in honour of her noticeable tabby coat.

Shadeclaw - longhair tuxedo tom with green eyes. Shadeclaw had shown promising battle skills ever since he tussled with his littermates in the nursery, and he proved himself to be a fighting prodigy upon reaching apprenticeship and receiving formal training. He was given the suffix -claw to honour this and is considered one of the best fighters in the Clan. For all his battle prowess, however, he detests unnecessary violence and always prefers to talk rather than fight. Shadeclaw is otherwise a very calm, amiable tom who is extremely easy-going and relaxed. He has a deathly fear of water following a near-drowning in his apprenticehood, but he speaks of this to no one out of embarrassment.

Brambleheart - brown tabby tom with white markings and amber eyes. He was generally quite the friendly, outgoing cat with strong morals and a clear sense of right and wrong, and had his life going very well for him after being promoted to warrior, but then a devastating fire tore his Clan apart and subsequently killed his brother and new mate. He was subsequently injured in the fire and had his leg badly broken, and became quiet and withdrawn, perceiving himself as useless. He has, however, begun to pick himself back up the ground again, reforging new relationships and getting himself involved in Clan activities. He found himself to be a brilliant tactician, and is now often consulted by the leader and deputy when it comes to reorganizing border patrols and defending the Clan from invaders.

Poppyheart- 9/10 not a fan of the suffix heart on this one but the name is charming
Cranestripe- 5/10 don't get me wrong, both affixes are great but they don't flow very nicely
Shadeclaw- 8/10 it's quite an edgy name for a cat but I suppose it fits it, not a fan of the prefix shade.
Brambleheart- 10/10. It fits the cat perfectly as I prefer simpler names

Tawnyblossom- cream tabby she cat with blue eyes
Swallowfall- russet, white and black she cat with yellow eyes
Swansong- feathery white tom with amber eyes
