newleaf -- this newleaf seems to be drearier than past ones. the sun keeps to it's hiding place behind the clouds, which are sending down often and cold rains. the kits and elders hide away in their dens from the rain. however, signs of newleaf are still popping up in the budding flowers and the births of new lives.

Settled on the sandy beaches and within the thick forests of a tropical atoll island,
Sunkenclan is isolated from the mainland and, subsequently, other clans. While most
of the island is uninhabited, there are two small human villages that hug the coastline
and hog open territory. Cats of Sunkenclan have resorted to claiming an assortment of
islands lining the shallows as their home. There are three major islands – two of which
are along the atoll’s edge and one that sits in the middle of the lagoon. There are also
a number of smaller islands outside of the atoll that the clan likes to use as scouting
pillars and private, family dens.

Alongside humans, the cats also live in fear of coastal sharks, mongooses and various
snakes and birds of prey. The threat of changing tides, violent waters and deadly storms
is also very prominent, and the clan takes extra precautions to prepare for the worst.
Sunkenclan tends to feast mostly on fish and small birds, and have adapted sleek pelts
and webbed paws to better suit their frequent excursions into the water.

While Sunkenclan cats are capable of swimming for long distances at a time, they still
tend to favor walking the shallows from island to island or using logs and human rubbish
to ride the currents. These cats have an acute knowledge of the tides and of the waters
surrounding their land, and use it to the best of their abilities. Sunkenclan earned their
name from the rising waters and the sunken ships torn apart by rocky outcrops. The cats
tend to raid ships after the humans have fled for food and pretty objects to decorate
their camps with.

There are not any customs or ranks currently developed – I kind of want these to come
out in my writing. For now, cats will be separated into age groups (queens will be the
exception, just to avoid confusion).

I’d like to be given images rather than descriptions for the time being – they’ll end up
transferred over to lineart at some point. Please let me know if anything needs to be
changed or clarified! ^^
