Puddleclan lives on a good-sized island close to the shores of Japan. This island happens to be a cat island, [like Tashirojima or Ainoshima] and has a large population of free roaming cats. The population of twolegs who live on the island is pretty small but a large number of tourists will visit the island to see the cats.
Puddleclan is located in the southern part of the island, this portion being mostly free of the nosy twoleg tourists. Some of the loner cats roam the southern part but the northern part hosts most of the strays, mostly due to the abundance of tourists who feed them.
Occasionally a stray tourist will wander into the clan’s territory but a few hisses or bluff strikes is usually enough to scare them away.
In the northern part, there is a large bridge that connects the island to the mainland. Once in a blue moon, the Puddleclan cats will travel over the bridge but, due to the journey to and back being strenuous and long, they rarely do.

Puddleclan’s territory spans from the start of the tree line in the north and the rocky cliff edge overlooking the ocean in the south. The area between these two points are heavily forested with sakaki evergreens. A few japanese maples and cherry blossom trees sprinkle the area and are more concentrated near the Puddleclan camp. Father back in the territory, closer to the rocky cliff, is a long forgotten stone path made by twolegs many moons ago. This path is the preferred way to get down to the uneven terrain right below the rocky cliff face.
Down here is a small opening in the rock face. The opening leads into a long and narrow, but wide tunnel with two small streams snaking towards the back. If a cat travels down the tunnel they will come out into a spacious cave filled with small crystals. In the middle of the cave is a large pool of water in which the streams drain out into. The Puddleclan cats contact starclan from here.
Close to camp is a small, mossy hollow sheltered by the large trees surrounding it. Puddleclan mentors will train their apprentices in this hollow.
Close to the training hollow is a very large, tall cherry tree that is commonly used by mentors to teach their apprentices how to climb. Apprentices will frequently have climbing competitions here, pushing each other to climb higher up on the tall tree.
Near the sea is the small, abandoned ruins of a twoleg house. These ruins are usually frequented by apprentices and newly made warriors, who use it as a hangout spot. Occasionally older warriors will come here to hunt but usually steer clear of the eerie ruins.

Puddleclan’s camp is an abandoned twoleg quarry. It's a slightly steep climb to get down into the camp, but it’s a good deterrent for predators. Down in the hollow there are several openings in the cliff face, all of which have shelves outside of them so the cats don’t risk falling when they exit the den. The higher ones have smaller shelves leading up to them.
The Highstone is located just below the leader’s dens. The Highstone is a tall rock with a flat top that the Puddleclan cats gather around for meetings called by their leader. A little, shallow stream runs through the middle of the camp, splitting into two branches around the half-way point. Kits and elders will usually be seen around the stream, the elders sunbathing and the kits playing in the water.
All the dens besides the nursery and the elders' den is located inside the cliff face.
The leader's den is the highest in the cliff, and is located just above The Highstone. The leader’s den has vines hanging over the entrance and inside is a quiet mossy cove.
The medicine cat’s den is the lowest den, being off the ground only by a whisker or so. Its entrances are tall bushes and ferns woven into an arch and decorated with different, fragrant herbs. Inside is a well-sized cave with smoothed walls and a soft-mossy floor. On one side of the cave are several large, soft nests for patients and on the other side is the medicine cats’ personal nests. At the back of the den is a large store of herbs and a small pool.
The warriors den is half-way up the cliff face, lichen hanging over the entrance of the den. Inside is a spacious cave with a smooth floor and mossy walls. Several nests dot the floor.
The apprentices' den is closer to the floor of the quarry then the warriors den but higher then the medicine cat den. Inside is a large, mossy cove, with large roots jutting from the ceiling and into the floor below. The nests are nestled among the large roots.
The nursery is a small grove in the back of camp. The walls of the den are woven out of large japanese holly and cheesewood bushes. The floors are mossy and soft, perfect for the kits who reside in the den. Wisteria flowers and other flowers are woven into the walls to give the den color.
The elder’s den is a large, hollow, fallen log located right next to the nursery. Long vines cover the entrance. Inside the log is a quiet, mossy cove.
Both the nursery and the elder’s den are located close to the medicine cat’s den just in case an emergency happens.

Puddleclan believes in Starclan. Puddleclan’s ancestors have made a habit out of being incredibly mysterious and cryptic. Their signs are hard to decode and not all that helpful, most of them only being able to be decoded after the thing they were trying to warn them about has already happened. But occasionally, their signs can be helpful and prevent tragic events.
They only show themselves to leaders and medicine cats, but only ever occasionally do so. But they do very rarely they will show themselves to a warrior or apprentice they deem worthy enough.

➤ [TRADITIONS]

Puddleclan hasn’t been around long enough to form many traditions, but they do have a handful.
When a leader, deputy or medicine cat is made, their family and their fellow high ranks will go out and bring them back gifts of feathers, flowers, shiny rocks or even twoleg items for their dens [in case of a leader or medicine cat] or their nest [in case of a deputy]. The felines don’t have to accept all of the gifts but it is seen as insanely rude to not accept at least one of the gifts. In case of death, family members will gather the gifts and bury them with the cat unless the cat specifically requests for the items to not be buried.
If a Puddleclan cat happens to fall in love with another, it's a tradition for the cat to bring their crush a flower that they think best symbolizes their crush and their crush’s personality. If the crush reciprocates the cat's feelings, they will accept the flower and weave it into their nest. If they don’t feel the same, the flower is buried by the cat who offered it.
Every newleaf the elders will take the time to decorate the camp with sakaki flowers and cherry blossoms, welcoming the warmth of spring after the cold moons of winter. The elders believe this will please starclan and they will bless the clan with a plentiful newleaf.

Rumors have been spread about the territory Puddleclan currently resides in. Cats claim they’ve seen bright figures patrol the area in the night, loud yowls in the middle of the night that come out of seemingly nowhere. While some cats report that these grimalkins have been helpful, leading them to water when they were incredibly thirsty or driving a piece of prey towards them. But others report these spirits are nothing but trouble, that scare away prey, trample their nesting, or even push them into the water surrounding the island.
There's even some rumors that these mysterious felines will follow cats they favor through their life, silently watching over them until they eventually pass.
But those are just rumors, ghosts aren’t real...
Are they?

"May I come in?" Hailsplash called softly, idling by the entrance to the healer's den. He and Coffeepaw tried to visit as often as they could, but Applefall was stern about those kind of things (it only took one thorough chastising to learn that it was better to ask permission first than to beg forgiveness later). Softpaw had been asleep, most times, or completely unresponsive thanks to the cobwebs wound tightly around his face. But today marked the first sunrise of freedom, the end of his "mandatory moon of rest," and so Hailsplash had come to hopefully coax Softpaw out from his nest and back into training. Applefall, who was deftly weaving together fern shreds and hare's fur into fresh nests with a practiced ease, just grunted in response to his question. One flick of his ear, however, indicated the nest in which Softpaw was lying, concealed by shadows and his back to the entrance. Hailsplash nodded in thanks, stepping into the den as quietly as possible. The healer stood suddenly, abandoning his task, and trotted off to the herb storage alcove in the back of the cave-den, his own way of offering Hailsplash some privacy.

"Morning, Softpaw," the silver tabby warrior greeted. "I hope you're feeling well today. You look better, especially now that everything's healed up nicely. Ready to come train?"

"Go away," came the grumbled response from the curly white lump in the nest.

"Get up," Hailsplash insisted, unable to suppress the twinge of frustration from coloring the words. "I've got today off from patrolling. Coffeepaw's been asking about sparring with you, but I was thinking we'd start by revisiting hunting."

"I said, go away," the apprentice hissed, burying his muzzle deeper into the moss of his nest and resolutely turning away even further. "I'm not training."

"Listen to your mentor," Applefall said, emerging from his herb stores with a swish of his tail. He'd clearly been eavesdropping since the beginning of the conversation, but only now was the calico offering his advice. "You've healed as much as you're going to heal, so there's no more excuses to stay in here and mope all day."

"But how am I supposed to be a warrior like this?" Softpaw finally snarled, whirling in his nest towards the sound of the healer's voice, but his sightless, scarred-over eyes were a few degrees off from where Applefall was actually standing. His sides heaved, equal measures of frustration and despair laced in his speech. "I can't see!"

"It's going to be different," Hailsplash said, moving closer on instinct. "Harder, maybe. But it's not impossible, Softpaw."

The apprentice rustled in his nest, fumbling awkwardly to try and face his mentor. His whiskers were drooping. There was something distinctly wrong about seeing the ordinarily chipper, impetuous apprentice so solemn and defeated. Softpaw wasn't supposed to be jaded, and it made Hailsplash's fur itch. "Come on, Soft," he said, gentler this time. "I promised you that I'd teach you to be an amazing warrior, didn't I? And I don't make promises I can't keep."

Softpaw blinked rapidly, his face and facade crumpling in tandem. "Okay," he whispered at last, and on legs vine-thin and shaky like a newborn fawn's, the white tom rose to his feet. "Okay. I'll come." He stayed put in the nest for a moment, head hanging low, before attempting one clumsy step forwards and nearly tripping over the woven edge. Hailsplash rushed over, laying a tail on the apprentice's fluffy back, setting the pace and offering a solid, physical guide. Softpaw didn't respond, but he tilted forwards somewhat, allowing the motions of Hailsplash's tail-tip to guide his uncertain steps. Applefall watched the duo walking (stumbling, really) out of the den, before returning back to his nest-weaving, a weight off his chest. Softpaw would be alright, with just a little more time and care.

Every now and then, SpruceClan's apprentices would be assigned to work in the nursery instead of in the elder's den, rebuilding nests and entertaining the more rambunctious kits to give the queens a break. Today's volunteers were Coffeepaw and Badgerpaw, both apprentices chatting animatedly as they replaced the two worn-out nests occupied by the two queens and got to work on creating a third for Cricketpounce and Ramsey's upcoming kits. Under Ashkit, Cinderkit, and Jaykit's guidance, the nursery's younger inhabitants had flocked out into the cave's clearing, where they were engaging in some sort of mock clan war. The cries of a kit faking their own dramatic death could be heard every few minutes or so. Nightfang was busy grooming the fur behind her ears when pawsteps caught her attention.

"Can we come in?" a soft voice called from outside the den, and without waiting for an answer, Cardinaltail poked his head into the den's entrance. Both queens looked to him, nodding their approval, while Badgerpaw raised one paw in greeting to his mentor as he came inside. Ivyblossom trotted in after him, although her gait was more of an odd waddle.

"Sorry to intrude like this," she said cheerfully, but there was a hint of worry in her otherwise jovial expression. "Coffeepaw, Badgerpaw, is there any way you two could make another nest for the nursery?" The apprentices shared a look, before nodding, the older of the two darting out to grab more materials. "Thank you!" the young warrior called after her, receiving a wave of the tail in response.

"A new nest?" Nightfang asked, her brow furrowing. "Why do we need another nest?"

Cardinaltail and Ivyblossom glanced to one another, communicating silently through a series of pained grimaces and stern looks, before the older of the two sighed. "It's for me," she said at last. "I'm going to be having kits."

"Congratulations!" Roselight gasped, already shifting to move her nest closer to the wall and creating room for another possible nest to be placed. "That's wonderful news, dear!" Ivyblossom smiled in response. Nightfang, too, rose up from her nest, but she made no attempt to move it.

"With who?" she asked, toneless. If she hadn't already been a little concerned, the look on her former apprentice's face as she was asked would have been enough to prompt her worrying. Nightfang repeated herself, a little more insistent. "Ivyblossom, with who?" Cardinaltail and Roselight both looked uncomfortable, the former more than the latter, as the two she-cats drew closer. They stared at one another with intensity, a silent battle of wills, before Ivyblossom finally cracked.

"Pyrespire!" she said, her tail thrashing with unease. Nightfang sucked in a sharp breath at the unfamiliar name. "His name's Pyrespire, from IslandClan, and I met him at a Gathering some moons ago. Are you happy? You know who, can I build my nest now?"

"No!" Nightfang said, shaking her head fiercely. The stress in her voice mounted with each word. "No, I'm not happy. What have you done, Ivy? You know the code! Why did you ever think that was a good idea?"

"So?" Ivyblossom snapped, her grey fur on end. "Pyrespire makes me happy! This was my choice. What's so wrong about that?"

"You're breaking the Warrior Code!" Nightfang protested, words sharp. "You can't have a mate in another clan. It's too much of a risk, Ivy, you should know that! How can we trust you or your kits to be loyal to SpruceClan if something were ever to happen?"

"You're wrong!" Cardinaltail said hotly, not even flinching when both Roselight and Nightfang shot the normally-shy warrior twin looks of surprise. "Ivyblossom's no less dedicated or loyal just because she didn't follow some outdated code! She's part of SpruceClan, she belongs in SpruceClan, and she's loyal to SpruceClan, so her kits will be, too! It's that simple!" Self-consciousness caught up to him when he'd finished, but even though Cardinaltail averted his eyes, he didn't stand down. In the middle of the chaos, nobody noticed a panicked Badgerpaw slipping away, moss caught in his claws and nest unfinished (he'd finally figured out why Briarmask insisted he never call her "mom" in public).

"There's no point arguing with her," Ivyblossom said, all the frantic energy leaving her in a rush. She just straightened up, resolute, and motioned for Cardinaltail to follow along. "If she doesn't want me here, so be it. I don't need her approval." Chin jutted out, Ivyblossom turned sharply, and marched out of the nursery with her head held high and tail swishing imperiously. Cardinaltail gave Nightfang one last disapproving, doe-eyed stare, before scampering along after her faithfully.

The black she-cat just stood in place, "What'd you go and do that for?" Roselight chided, gentle but stern in the way she was with Poppykit, Daisykit, and Violetkit when they'd been misbehaving. "Kickin' her out just for fallin' in love?" Nightfang didn't look back at the tortoiseshell queen, but her ears flattened. Even as she tried to convince herself that she'd done the right thing, defending the warrior code of the clans before SpruceClan's time, the hurt on Ivyblossom's face before she'd left kept floating through her mind, even after the kits tumbled back into the nursery and she was left to rein in their enthusiasm before they destroyed their new nests.

When Badgerpaw opened his eyes to the now-familiar sight of the training grounds, he was surprised to find that Sharptalon was nowhere to be seen. Only Birchpaw was there waiting for him, lounging on his side in the center of the clearing and raising a lazy tail in greetings. Tentatively, Badgerpaw stepped forwards further into the dusty, cracked-earth clearing and settled into an uneasy silence as he sat by the silent Birchpaw. They waited there together in a surprisingly companionable silence, neither apprentice bothering to move forwards or to initiate a spar. "Have you ever thought about what your warrior name's going to be?" Birchpaw asked suddenly. "You know, since you'll be one in a couple moons." Badgerpaw startled, caught off guard by the question, but his sparring partner continued without waiting for an answer. "My mom's name was Brackenheart. If I'd made it to my warrior ceremony, I think I would've liked to be Birchheart. After her."

Uncertain of how to respond to Birchpaw's unprompted, open sincerity, Badgerpaw was silent for a moment. He wasn't looking to befriend the other tom, just to stay alive, but he offered a tentative jab in reply. "I think you'd be a better Birchfall, since you can't seem to stay on your paws."

"Ouch, I'm hurt. What's got your tail in a knot?" Birchpaw laughed, rolling back onto his feet easily as he shook out the dust from his coat. "You're not usually this prickly, little Badger."

"I'm not little," Badgerpaw snipped back, striped fur spiking despite knowing he could only reach the other tom's shoulder in height. The amusement on Birchpaw's face just added to the frustration and nerves pooling in his gut, and before he really knew what he was doing, he'd spiraled into his own little tangent of honesty. "Nightfang got really mad at Ivyblossom earlier for having a relationship with a cat outside of SpruceClan, and even though she doesn't talk about it, I know that's what my mom did, that I'm forbidden, and... I dunno, I'm just worried that she might get in trouble." As soon as the unintentional complaint slipped past his tongue, Badgerpaw winced, cursing himself for ever opening his mouth. 'Stupid, stupid, stupid! The more they know about me, the more they can use to hurt me!' But Birchpaw didn't seem to look all that delighted by the news. If he didn't know better, the tabby might've said that the ghost looked concerned.

"Well, Nightfang's just ignorant," Birchpaw said, sounding genuinely offended on Badgerpaw's behalf. The young tabby nearly jumped out of his fur when a gentle paw patted him along the spine, an attempt at a comforting gesture. "You didn't choose the circumstances you were born into. But don't you worry! Nothing's going to happen to you, as long as you keep working hard to be a great warrior, because that's the only thing that should prove where your loyalties lie." Birchpaw's voice darkened considerably, lip curling as he spoke. Badgerpaw just swallowed thickly, wincing as he was tugged closer by the other apprentice. "Anyone who disagrees will soon see otherwise. I'll see to it."

"Badgerpaw! Birchpaw!" Sharptalon yowled, emerging from the brush with an irritable lash of his tail and cutting off whatever else Birchpaw had planned on saying. Badgerpaw's eyes squeezed shut on instinct, ducking his head as if to protect from being scratched across the face. "We don't have all night! Back to sparring, you can take a break and chat later." The older apprentice just smiled, tilting his head indulgently as he slipped back into a battle stance, mismatched eyes glittering with a strange light. Badgerpaw mirrored his stance, but his paws couldn't seem to stop their shaking. Birchpaw had to be planning something, he was sure of it.

It was late, around the time when the stars came out and most SpruceClan cats headed to their nests for the evening, when Nightfang finally sought out Ivyblossom. She found her by the cave's edge, staring out past the snow-capped stone of the mountain and up at the stars pensively. A part of her wanted to laugh at the sight of her excitable, adventurous little Ivypaw "wasting time" by stargazing, but another part of her recognized it as a sign that she was growing up and changing. The thought was bittersweet, so she shook herself of the thought as she padded up behind Ivyblossom and cleared her throat. The she-cat stiffened up at the sound, turning to her with an unimpressed look.

"Hello, Ivy," Nightfang said, shifting her weight from side to side awkwardly as her former apprentice fixed her with a rather dry stare. "I wanted to apologize for earlier. My outburst was not only rude, but completely uncalled for. You're a grown cat now, you're allowed to make your own choices, and it's not my place to try and chastise you for living life to the fullest. I guess I was so caught up in the ideals of a centuries-old code that I forgot what's more important. That doesn't excuse it, of course, and you're under no obligation to forgive me, but I wanted you to know that I am really sorry for treating you that way.

"Oh, Nightfang," Ivyblossom said, shaking her head and offering a sincere half-smile. Her posture relaxed dramatically. "You take yourself so seriously. Of course I forgive you."

"Really?" Nightfang blurted, taken aback at the easy acceptance. "Just like that?"

"Of course," the grey tortoiseshell purred, now with a roll of her eyes at the bewildered expression on the other queen's face. "You just have my best interests in mind, I know that. But it means a lot to hear you apologize yourself."

"Right," Nightfang murmured. She offered her former apprentice a smile, finally meeting her on the same page as equals rather than as her guardian. 'Well, you're welcome in the nursery whenever you want to join us. I'd be happy to help you move in, and I'm sure Cinderkit and Ashkit would love to chip in, too."

"I'll keep that in mind. Goodnight, Nightfang," Ivyblossom said, only a little teary-eyed as she pressed her nose to Nightfang's cheek. "Thank you." Her parting words spoken, the young warrior turned on her heel, no doubt racing off to find her friend Cardinaltail in the warrior's den to share the news. Nightfang watched her leave, a far cry from the little grey wisp of an apprentice that she'd met on the mountain so many moons ago, and smiled in spite of herself. The black she-cat made her way to the nursery next. Smokestep often spent the night there, in order to have more time with the kits than his warrior duties usually allowed. Sure enough, he was there waiting patiently by her nest's edge, where both Ashkit and Cinder were already curled up and twitching as they tried to get comfortable.

"Hello, Night," her mate greeted, voice soft. "I hope everythin' went alright out there. Cinder and Ash are about tuckered out, but you still look real bright-eyed and awake. If you need to go burn some energy, I'm happy to stay 'ere with them for a bit."

"You know me too well," Nightfang purred in reply, before leaning forwards to give each half-asleep kit a lick on their forehead. After, she touched noses with Smokestep gently. The grey tom leaned into the contact, his rumbling purr soothing and familiar. "I'll be back before you know I'm gone. Love you."

He smiled back at her, soft and trusting. "I know. Love you, too." As Nightfang slipped out of the nursery's entrance, she spared one glance back, and felt her heart soften at the sight of Smokestep curling around Cinderkit and Ashkit, his limbs poking out of her nest at awkward angles to accommodate for the size of their rapidly-growing kits. She did not look back again, but the cheerful melody that she hummed as she headed out of the caves and into the open heart of the mountaintop was one that Smoke had taught her. Nightfang kept up a brisk pace, trotting through the thin layers of pine trees with the assuredness that only came from knowing precisely where you intend to go. She bit back a shiver as a particularly sharp gust of Leafbare wind snapped at her sides, whistling through the trees as they grew denser and denser with each pawstep through the snow.

She did not see the glittering, mismatched eyes that followed her every movement from the trees.

The Watchpoint Tree wasn't too far of a walk from the main camp. Nightfang had traveled to it countless times, most often with Smokestep, but plenty of times by herself as well. It was a good place for thinking, with a sprawling view of the lands surrounding the mountain and a beautiful view of the sky. Gingerly, she wriggled through the normally-pliant lower branches of the tree, careful not to scratch her sides against the frost that had stiffened them up and made the pine needles into Leafbare's tiny claws. And sure enough, once she'd made it through, the tiny outcropping of cliff was there waiting.

Ghosts were not made to interact with the physical world, nor to meddle in dreams, nor to whisper in the ears of cats in the waking world. But Birchpaw was not quite a ghost, anymore. And it was with this knowledge that he took two steps forwards, feeling the cold of the snow beneath his paws for just a flicker of a moment. If Nightfang had known to look, she would have seen a shimmering, wispy, mirage of a cat standing behind her, flickering in and out of existence as he fought to remain on the ground. She would have seen a young tom, hardly older than Ivypaw when she'd first met her apprentice, but she would have also seen the moons of age that haunted that mismatched gaze. She would have seen his mottled fur and the knotted scar that wound around his throat. She would have seen him, and recognized him as Birchpaw, Sharptalon's poor protégé, just a few moons her junior.

But Nightfang had not known to look.

Her gaze was still fixed on the glittering expanse of stars overhead, allowing her thoughts to wander as she sat peacefully on the cliff's edge. Birchpaw trotted up behind her slowly, still fading in and out with each step. She didn't notice, of course, but for just a moment, the apprentice spared a glance up at the stars of Silverpelt that she seemed to be so fascinated by. It was pretty, he'd give her that, even if the sight of it made his stomach curl with a fierce sort of jealousy. Even if StarClan was really as boring as it seemed, anything would be better than spending the rest of eternity with Sharptalon. At least he had Badgerpaw now.

"Beautiful view, isn't it?" Birchpaw offered, slinking forwards as he spoke. Nightfang, startled by the voice, whirled around, and her eyes widened as she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure standing there with her atop the cliffs. Seeing his opportunity, Birchpaw struck. In one neat, powerful leap, he barreled into the warrior with enough force to send her stumbling backwards desperately, until there was no more ground to stumble on. It was with a sharp gasp that Nightfang felt the cool stone slip away from beneath her paws, with a sigh that she felt the air rip from her lungs in the fall, and with one horrible, strangled shriek that she hit the ground.

Birchpaw watched her descent with a detached interest, and when her cries sounded no longer, the ghost turned on his heel and faded from sight with the breeze.

Rosebud was thankful that the delivery went well, and was looking at the kit curiously. Emberclaw heaved a sigh as she watched her kit snuggle into her and start suckling. Rosebud felt a small tickle in the back of his brain, he knew that this kit was going to be different.

"What is it?!" a worried squeak came from the entrance to the nursery.

Snowbell poked his head in, eyes wide with fear, as he looked at his beloved mate. Rosebud smiled and moved out of the way so that he could get a good look at the white ball of fluff nestled into the deep black and orange of her mother.

"It is a girl." Rosebud said quietly.

"What should we name her?" Snowbell asked in awe.

"Dovekit..." Emberclaw said as she settled her head in to take a well deserved nap.

"Dovekit..." Snowbell repeated as he was carefully led out of the nursery so that Emberclaw could rest.

Emberclaw was amazed when her kit finally opened her eyes, seeing that she had one icy blue eye and another eye that was a murky black-blue color. It did not seem that the difference in eye colors effected her sight, so that was good, but Emberclaw was very aware that her kit was not normal. As Dovekit matured, she proved that she was more handicapped then orignially thought.

Rosebud knew that Dovekit would be special from the moment that she was born, but he did not know what Starclan held in her future. Once Dovekit was old enough to be aware from her mother, Rosebud took her to his den to run a few tests. Her eyes were just fine, the darker blue eye was just as viable as her icy one. As he continued to test, he discovered his worst fear. Dovekit was confirmed to be deaf. Rosebud knew that deaf kits did not survive very long, so he knew that the news would kill Dovekit's parents.

"Snowbell, Emberclaw, I have some news." Rosebud said as he returned to the nursery with Dovekit.

"What is it?" Snowbell asked, while Emberclaw just stared at her beloved kit.

"Her eye sight is fine, the difference in eye color is not effecting it at all." Rosebud said with a sad smile.

"Well, that is great." Snowbell said, "and you were worried."

He chuckled as his mate glared at him, "Let Rosebud finish." She hissed.

Snowbell shut up real quick as Rosebud cleared his throat, "Unfortunately, though, she is deaf."

Emberclaw's head dropped as Snowbell's jaw hit the ground.

"It is, unfortunately, a fairly common thing with cats that have white fur and blue eyes. I do not know what Starclan has in store for this young kit, but I do believe that it is something important." Rosebud continues to explain, looking at both parents with worry.

Snowbell did not look at anyone but his paws, he did not know what to say. His only kit, his pride and joy, was deaf. She was defective, imperfect, a hunderance to the clan and her family! she was a risk to any and all she came into comtact with! He said nothing as he just turned his back and sulked away from his family.

Emberclaw watched her mate go, not sure what to say or do. She loved her kit, and would do anything to keep her alive. Emberclaw knew that her kit would need constant watching, and vowed to do just that.

Clan Tradition:
When an apprentice is ready to become a warrior, they shall go on a week long quest into the Two-Leg territory on the western boarder, where they will look for a monkey by the name of Fitzgerald, and he will make their new clan collar for them. If they succeed then they shall be welcomed back to the clan as a full warrior, if they do not then they will have to train for an additional moon before they are able to try again. If they fail a second time, they are banished from the clan for weakness and a disrespect for clan tradition and law.

rustlingclan.

the cats of rustlingclan are only barely beginning to form their clan. located on the rolling rocky prairie/savanna hybrid-type of landscape to the north, their ancestors have lived here for generations. there are not many tall trees in the territory. the clan camp is, interestingly, located in a tunnel system underground, made by commandeering abandoned dens of other creatures and expanding them. the tunnels are reinforced with wood, sticks, branches, and stone picked up through patrolling.

cats are generally dark, multi-colored, with little to half white markings, and spotted tabby markings to blend in with the long grass and shadows.

cats living here tend to have the following breeds in their bloodline, but not always: siamese, oriental/colorpoint shorthair, balinese, oriental/colorpoint longhair, bengal, savannah, jungle cat, toyger, american bobtail, pixiebob, siberian, norwegian forest cat, maine coone, tonkinese, himalayan (very rare), persian (very rare).

they worship a patron deity known as Whisper, and they are genderless, though sometimes depicted as a female with kits. taking care of others is the primary goal of a rustlingclan cat. they are friendly, but do not take advantage of this, as they can quickly become hostile when presented with hostility.

the leader of this clan will be known as Rustlingstar. she will be DMAB (designated male at birth) but identifies as female so please keep that in mind!

Loudmouth backed away from the freshly dug hole, her entire body heaving. The molly had been digging since sunhigh, and now it was the middle of the night. The small grimalkin only managing to take a few steps before collapsing to the floor.
Using the rest of her scarce energy, she just was barely able to scent the air before her head fell again. Luckily enough for her, she couldn't scent anything that would pose a danger to her. Although the rocky ground was a less than ideal spot to sleep, it would have to work for now. The feline couldn’t fight sleep much longer and soon enough sleep washed over her.

Loudmouth was awoken by the sounds of birds chirping. The scrawny molly lifted herself up into an upright position, shaking her head to get rid of the remains of sleep. The molly lifted her head to scent the air, picking up the scent of rain in the distance. Loudmouth sighed and stood up, wincing as her sore muscles protested. The feline turned her head back to the grave before quickly dashing into the undergrowth.
Before long, the grimalkin returned with a mouthful of flowers. Loudmouth gently placed them on the grave, sitting back on her haunches. Loudmouth’s brow furrowed, Softpounce had tried to convince her that she was fine and that her cough was nothing to worry about. When Loudmouth went out to hunt yesterday, she was convinced that all that Softpounce needed was some prey and rest. But after an unsuccessful hunt, Loudmouth returned to Softpounce, who was seemingly asleep. The molly had tried to stir her mother but to no avail. After a few more moments of prodding, the molly had realized her mother had passed away in her sleep.
Loudmouth rose up from her spot beside the grave, at least she had passed away presumably peacefully. Shooting one last sorrowful grimace at the grave before padding into the undergrowth, away from the small clearing.

Loudmouth sighed, raising her nose to the sky. Where would she go? She could always go back to the small den she shared with Softpounce, but even thinking about it left a sour taste in her mouth. She’d rather be soaked and freezing then go back to that den. The molly opened her mouth to scent the air, gingerly trotting through the vegetation. By the time she reached the cliff edge, it had begun to the rain.
The scrawny feline shook her head as the rain quickly pierced through her thin coat, chilling her to the bone. She had to find shelter fast before she froze out here. The molly traversed the cliff edge, noticing the silky grass slowly transitioning into smooth stone.
A path. There was a path here. The twolegs must have built this path moons ago judging by how smooth it was.
Loudmouth followed the path, maybe it would lead to shelter. The path trailed down to the rocky shore of the ocean, ocean water bashing against the rock. Loudmouth pressed against the wall to avoid at least some of the splashing saltwater. The miserable, soaked feline continued on until suddenly, the wall fell away. The grimalkin only barely being able to catch herself from falling into the floor.
Loudmouth let out a hiss, the fur along her spine bristled up. The feline sniffed the opening, narrowing her blind optics. “Hello?” The feline warily mewed, hoping this wasn’t someone’s den.
But no answer came, leading Loudmouth to assume it was just some random cave that no one had claimed yet. The feline hesitated for a heartbeat, before slowly entering the tunnel. The tunnel slowly narrowed, narrowing so much that loudmouth’s whiskers touched the walls. Before the walls could get too narrow for Loudmouth to squeeze through, the tunnel widened out into a cave. Loudmouth could tell the cave wasn't pitch black, but it wasn’t bright either. She continued following the small streams, leading her to a much larger pool. She wasn’t sure if the light was tricking her eyes or what, but the pool seemed to be brighter than the rest of the cove. Loudmouth crouched down at the edge of it, sniffing at the pool. The feline lapped up the water and suddenly darkness washed over her.
“Loudmouth....”
“Loudmouth.”
“LOUDMOUTH!”
Loudmouth shot up, “I’m up! I’m up!” she squeaked. Loudmouth glanced around, expecting to be back in the tree trunk den she shared with softpounce. But instead of a small tree trunk, she was met with an open field of flowy, silky grass, and instead of Softpounce trying to wake her up, it was a stranger. Loudmouth squeaked, rushed back. She snarled at the flame-point stranger, the fur along her spine bristling.
The stranger narrowed her green optics, looking slightly offended. “Who are you?” Loudmouth hissed. The massive feline shifted, her pale pelt shimmering. “Well since you asked so nicely,” she mumbled sarcastically before clearing her throat. “My name is Azaleastar, leader of Puddleclan.”
Loudmouth flexed her tail, “Puddleclan? What’s a Puddleclan?” The flame-point glanced away, sadness flashed in her eyes. “Puddleclan used to live in the forest moons ago, we were a community. We looked after each other and defended our kits and our elders.” The queen glanced up, “Sickness took me, my deputy and my medicine cats…” she closed her eyes “Without leadership Puddleclan fell apart.”
Loudmouth flattened her ears, “I’m sorry, that sounds horrible...”
Azaleastar opened her green orbs, “It all happened long ago, Puddleclan has been lost for moons.” Suddenly the flame-pointed warrior perked up, “Now, now, I don't want this to devolve into a pity party.” She grinned at the scrawny tabby “Do you know why I summoned you here?”
Loudmouth shook her head, “No, I don’t” The flame-point curled her bushy tail over her paws, Loudmouth took a hesitant seat. “Puddleclan is a sad story but what does it have to do with me?” The molly puffed out her chest, “Well, Loudmouth, I believe that you could help revive Puddleclan.” Loudmouth’s orbs widened, “How?” she inquired.
“I want you to become the first leader of this new Puddleclan,” the flame-point grinned. “What?!” Loudmouth jumped up, her eyes bore into the older molly. “I believe you have good leadership qualities,” the level-headed queen replied, “and I want you to be the first leader of Puddleclan.”
Loudmouth opened her mouth to argue but couldn't find the words. The two mollies stood there, neither speaking a word. Finally, Loudmouth broke the silence, “Do you think I would be a good leader?” the scrawny feline’s eyes trailed down to her paws. The flame-point nodded, “I do, I believe you would be a great leader.” The tabby took a moment before lifting her head to look at the flame-point, “I'll do it.”
The flame-point stood up, bending her neck down to touch her nose to the smaller feline’s head. Suddenly, warmth spread through her entire body. Quickly following the warmth was pain, overwhelming pain raced through her. Loudmouth crouched down to the ground, writhing with pain.
Slowly, the feline rose to her paws again. She was trembling, only barely being able to remain on her paws. The scrawny warrior panted, gazing up at Azaleastar. The leader beamed, “I hail you by your new name, Loudstar. Your old life is no more.” the old cat purred. “You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of Puddleclan.”
The tall molly touched her nose to the tabby’s head once more, “Take care of my clan.”
“Loudstar! Loudstar! Loudstar!”
Loudstar flinched, becoming aware that waves of pure white felines had appeared behind Azaleastar. Azaleastar soon joined the chanting, her green optics sparkling with pride.
The land and cats before her soon faded. She jolted back awake, back in the cave with the bright pool. The molly flexed her muscles, gingerly rising to her paws. She turned towards the entrance, turning her head back to the pool once more before swiftly exiting the cavern.
As the molly exited the den, she noticed that the rain had stopped and the waves were much calmer now. The scrawny leader retraced her path back towards the forest. Ready to do whatever she could to revive Puddleclan.

Loudstar sat on the Highstone, picking at the remains of her rat. The leader let out a deep sigh. She hadn’t spoken to another cat since she got her nine lives and the silence was really getting to her. Too much time alone with her thoughts.
Maybe she should go out and patrol, maybe that would get her away from her thoughts. Loudstar pushed the remains of the rat over the edge of the Highstone before leaping down from the tall, smooth rock.
Loudstar climbed up and into the forest, slinking into the undergrowth, maybe she would run into someone on her patrol.
