it was with ought a doubt that the small apprentice was taken by eostre and arya, ignoring her whimpers on the way back home. the sun was setting down after all, they were in a dangerous position. but much to the leader's discomfort, no one could really help the young lily. for now, all she could do was rest in a safe place. after helping aspen store the raspberries he had found, eostre shuffled through the tall flowers, closing his eyes as he rose his tiny muzzle up to the starry sky, begging the spirits for help.

Einar's ears twitched irritably as the roaring sound of the waterfall just up ahead grew louder and louder. He hopped at a languid pace, his feet beginning to ache with every step on the rocky ground. He huffed, loping faster as to get to his destination. His comfort didn't matter - the growth of his warren did. The spirits promised him that the Viridian March would prosper and Einar would endure whatever he had to to to see that happen. His chest heaved as he reached the fall; the moon shined high over his head now.

Instinct took over as he took hesitant steps towards the pool, kit stories ran through his mind of river spirits that grabbed young rabbits and dragged them underwater. Steeling himself, he got as close as he could and took a drink. All of a sudden, Einar found himself getting drowsy, and he couldn't do much as his vision blacked out and he slumped to the ground.

Tsuki no Usagi (translates as Rabbits of the Moon) are a warren that live on Okunoshima Island (also known as Rabbit Island) in Japan. They live deep in the woods there and are seldom bothered by others. These rabbits are a bit of a rowdy bunch and follow a strict lifestyle. They are traditionalists and live their life in a similar manner to classical Japan. The samurais (scouts) protect the warren and together they make a large family of sorts. These rabbits are no specific breed and come in a range of colours.

On this island, many humans visit and offer food. The rabbits of Tsuki no Usagi ignore this offered food and do not eat directly from human hands. If a rabbit does this it is seen as betrayed and a low act. This is why any rabbit punished is forced to do this.

Explanations of some roles:

Emperor = leader
The ruler of the warren. At this point in time, only bucks may rule. All requests must first go through the emperor and be given permission. If the emperor has a mate she is known as the empress and given the same amount of respect. However she cannot give immediate orders. When the emperor dies, his son is made the new emperor. If he has multiple sons, then right before his death he chooses which one based on skill.

Head Samurai = second in command
The head samurai orders the samurai and also follows any of the emperors commands. The head samurai is a strong buck with great skill. He also helps with the training of the samurai.

Priest/Priestess = healer
The Priest/Priestess is in charge of medicine and heals sickness and injury. They also have a strong connection to the ancestors of the warren. They read the phases of the moon and give the emperor reports every second moon. The reports mention any given prophecies (if any) and other various related messages.

Samurai = scouts
The samurai protect the warren. Traditionally only bucks can be samurai but a doe can as well if she proves herself. The samurai are given strict training and are taught to show no weakness. However they still can be rather affectionate when not in training or battle.

Farmers = gatherers
The farmers forage for food for the warren. They are mostly does but a buck preferring a more relaxed lifestyle can also be a farmer. They do not take any food from humans but instead gather the food if it has been left behind.

Okunoshima Island, a peaceful place to most. But to the rabbits living there it was any thing but peaceful. There were constant fights over food and territory. One young rabbit was sick of it all. No one gets to push him around. No, it was time for a revolution!

It was the early morning and the sun shone brightly through the woods. Two large ears popped out from a warren. It was a small warren but soon it would grow. The rabbit hopped out and sniffed the air. He was the only rabbit around. He started to laugh to himself.

"Hmm, yes... Soon I, Hirohito, will rule this whole island! Then I will show all those other rabbits to leave me alone," he chuckled. He looked to the sky and slowly twitched his nose. "However, I cannot do such a feat alone. I will need help. O, lonely moon in the sky please hear my voice." He closed his eyes and said a silent prayer. With that out of the way, he left to start his new warren.

Hirohito stared at the small black and white rabbit in front of him. The rabbit looked nervous to be in front of him. "What is your name?" Hirohito asked at last.
"Uh yes! I-it's Keiji..." the rabbit said.
"Why do you approach me?"
Keiji took a big gulp. "You see, the thing is..." He then explained that a rumour had spread which told of Hirohito's bold choice to make his own warren. He laughed a big deep laugh.
"What you've heard is true! Are you interested?" he said with a grin. Keiji nodded.
"I would like to be a samurai!"
"Very well! Follow me and I'll teach you all there is along the way," he grinned. The two rabbits then hopped back to their warren.

When they returned, another rabbit was waiting for them. This rabbit looked lost. "Hello," Hirohito greeted. The rabbit spun around.
"Oh sorry, do you live here? I, for some reason, felt like I had to be here..." the rabbit said, looking around.
"You must be my head samurai then," he said.
"The head what now?"
With Keiji also listening, Hirohito explained to the rabbit about their warren. It didn't take much time for him to understand.
"I see!" he squeaked. "The moon is interesting like that." They all looked to the sky. It was the afternoon so the moon wasn't in sight but they knew it was somewhere. "Oh I almost forgot! Allow me to introduce myself proper. I am Hajime, your head samurai from now on." The trio of rabbits laughed to themselves
