“we’ve reason to suspect a murderer in our clan, ferretfur!” cicadaflutter growled towards her mate, walking away from the tom. she lashed her tail in anger, claws digging into the hard earth. the cold air nipped at her thin fur, causing her to whip her head back. “sootstar is over the moon with her kits, and of course i’m happy for her, but this means that finding whoever is doing,” she motioned to the billowing forest in front of them both with a turn of her head. “all of this, is up to you now! first, patch. now otterstripe! she had just graduated, ferretfur!” her words were weaved together with pure anger. partially towards the deputy she usually loved, mostly towards whoever dared do this to amberclan. her clan.

“i don’t know what you expect me to do, cicada!” ferretfur barked, rising to his paws. he watched as the bengal she-cat began to walk away. “wait,” his tone was sweeter now as he hurried his steps to meet hers. “come on, it's cold enough out here, and the sun is already setting.”

cicadaflutter’s tail lashed behind her as she rebounded and approached him. “don’t think this is over, i’m just cold.”

“when are you not?”

the fur on the she-cat’s back rose and her tail whipped the earth below her. ferretfur meekly apologized, and the two were on their way back.

Number of Cats: 3

The two CoyoteClan cats found another warrior while patrolling their territory. He seemed soft and scared, like a kittypet, but Venusstar thought he had a lot of potential to be a good warrior. He decided to join the clan, and had been a stray for a few moons, so didn't really need to be trained. The clan was out of food, so the new warrior went hunting. It seemed like lots of animals were out that day, so Dustywhisker was feeling confident he could catch something. Venusstar took Icepaw out in the forest, and started training her to fight.

The clan used 2 food.
Dustywhisker joined the clan.
Dustywhisker went hunting.
Venusstar trained Icepaw.

"Prepare for battle! We are attacking the badger's den in hope of driving it out." Emberblaze yowled, at once breaking the happy atmosphere in camp. Lyrastar trembled beside him. The warriors muttered among themselves. Solarspark gave him a look. Fire was in his eyes, claws unsheathed; he was going to protect his clan at all costs. After he had discovered he had Cosmoclan ancestry he hadn't let it change his mind about being less loyal, it had only tightened that obedience and loyalty to serve his new clan. He was going into battle to protect his kin, even if Flamerise and Speckledrise gave him reproachful looks. "Be sure to eat plenty before the battle." the tortoiseshell continued, seriousness in his eyes. Anxiousness was in the air like swarm of bees, stinging all who lost their nerve. "We need access to the Sunjaw at all costs. The rest of the clan shall reinforce the dens. That is all, now Solarspark will do the hunting patrols and our leader shall organise the battle," he exchanged a nod with Lyrastar, before jumping off the Moontree as his part of the meeting ended and Solarspark leapt on to it instead.
"Are you sure about this?" Blossomfur asked apprehensively. "Yes I am, Blossomfur. I'll be fine and so will you." Emberblaze murmured. "What about Flamerise and Speckledrise? The clan doesn't need any death in the coldest winter yet, yet you go along with a giant badger attack!" Blossomfur hissed at her mate. "It was Lyrastar's idea as well. Solarspark agreed too," he argued. "Winter isn't a time for arguing. We need teamwork. If you think we can find teamwork in getting destroyed at a badger's paws, then that's your downfall." Blossomfur turned around and left, just as Solarspark's patrol talk ended. He looked around to see curious eyes on him, and he froze, speechless.

"Birdrise, being a Guardian apprentice is so boring, you have no idea." Featherrise groaned as the small apprentice trailed after her, questioning about herbs. "But I care! Herbs are interesting to me." Birdrise stuttered, facing the long-furred apprentice with a curious expression. "So cobwebs cover wounds, right? And you need them to help wounds?" he pondered aloud. "That's an alright description I suppose. But being a warrior sounds so much better!" Featherrise blinked at him, her sightless blue eyes wide. "You could teach me." Birdrise mumbled quietly at first, before saying it with more conviction. "Deal. But you have to teach be battling and hunting."

Oliveshadow and Aconite were herb-hunting, both looking unhappy: it was a well known fact that they hated each other as one was rule-abiding and trying not to be disloyal while the other joyfully breaking the warrior code. Yet Aconite had been told to look for deathberries and comfrey, so she thought she could have some bonding time with her "favourite" warrior. "Just wondering," Aconite slyly asked, "but what happened to you before you were here? I couldn't help hearing that you were in a tribe before now." Oliveshadow looked taken aback for a moment, before turning her muzzle to the sky. "Yes. I was in a tribe." the calico sighed, noticing some snow on her pelt but ignoring it like she was used to it, Aconite noted. She must have been in the snow many times before or she wouldn't have ignored the it, the one who called herself Cora thought. "Why were you exiled?" Aconite guessed without caution. "I wasn't exiled!" Oliveshadow hissed indignantly, "I left of my own accord," she continued haughtily. "Of course you did. Why though?" the black she-cat pressed on. "I chose the wrong side. My friends were hurt. Is that what you wanted to know, Aconite? I was a coward." Aconite was taken aback, the cunning look in her eyes unveiling an almost haunted. glare"I think not only patients will be given deathberries, Oliveshadow. What do you think?" Aconite threatened, a red berry rolling out from her paw. "I think someone needs to be more careful. I know who you are. If you're trying to hurt Lyrastar I'll be there, defending her with every breath I have." with that the mysterious Oliveshadow lost her clumsy, lost look, looking almost evil to Aconite's standards as she sniffed for any comfrey hidden by the wet ground. If she hadn't known better then the black she-cat would have begun to admire her.

ixxx▬wiltedstar retreated from the angelstone, his tail held loftily and his stature haughty as he patrolled his borders, stopping, occasionally, to hunt. the tall grass that blanketed graveclan's home brushed his belly, lightly caressing his thick fur. had the ancestors ignored him? how dare they. he had asked for a gypsy, he had played nice, for once, pretending to care, and they had denied his request? as he scowled bitterly, wiltedstar crested the rise leading to the main camp, and halted, his eyes narrowing and his ears flattening to lay against the arch of his skull.
ixxx▬a rather small, delicate, black tom was crossing the open terrain, a significant limp making him take much longer than necessary. from wiltedstar's vantage point, he could see that the black cat's hind leg was twisted harshly, causing the tom to favor the extremity heavily. the tom seemed to be muttering under his breath, after careful inspection; wiltedstar slipped through the grass, hunched low, his pawsteps silent. if it came to fighting, he would surely best this crippled feline. as he padded closer, wiltedstar's ears could pick up the tom's voice.
ixxx▬"graveclan?" he grumbled, puffing out a sigh. "why in starclan's name have i been sent here?" he paused, shook his head. "it sounds spooky," he admitted to himself, pausing to take a breath, keeping weight off of his bad leg. the black tom had a meek voice, and he seemed rather hesitant at the idea of approaching graveclan. but he wouldn't have to, for graveclan had come to him.
ixxx▬"starclan sent you?" wiltedstar was blunt, standing from his crouch, eyeing the smaller cat. the ebony feline squawked with fright, skittering back, staring at the leader with wide eyes and dilated pupils, his heartbeat audible to his own ears. wiltedstar cocked a brow; this cat definitely wasn't fit to be a warrior, what with his disability and his obvious fear at anything that moved.
ixxx▬the star-sent tom paused, his eyes darting to and fro. "uh, yes," he nodded, avoiding making direct eye contact but not allowing his gaze to stray from wiltedstar's prone form, from where he stood, tall and strong, three fox-lengths from the other, strange tom. "they told me i was to be your gypsy."
ixxx▬wiltedstar looked the tom up and down. "starclan is foolish, but i suppose you'll do." he stated with disinterest. the crippled cat blinked, surprise lacing his features. yes, starclan had mentioned that the leader of his new clan would be brash, uncaring in the face of his ancestors, but they hadn't described him thoroughly, and meeting someone with such disregard for starclan was a shock to him. wiltedstar seemed either to not be aware of or not care about the miniscule gypsy's current feelings, for he continued without comment. "what's your name?"
ixxx▬"spidernose," the gypsy replied, choosing not to mention, at least for now, that starclan had recommended that name to him. the white-and-grey tom let his eyes rake spidernose up and down before he gave his own name curtly, and continued. "you will be handling all of graveclan's correspondences with starclan," he stated bluntly. "the camp is this way; follow." and, with that, wiltedstar was off, not bothering to slow his pace for the formerly-injured cat that would be the second member of the soon-to-be powerful clan.

ixxx▬the pair of cats returned to the camp with not only themselves, but two other felines in tow; a muscular warrior that spidernose eyed with trepidation and a silver-tabby dame whose swollen belly made spidernose anxious (though, in all honesty, nearly everything seemed to make him anxious). the tom, with his multi-toed feet and muscled build, radiated confidence, his chin held high and his stub of a tail lashing. wiltedstar had put him in his place quickly, though, and spidernose was almost positive that no cat would be looking to cross wiltedstar anytime soon. the pregnant molly had been a harder cat to acquire, and that was wiltedstar's fault, in spidernose's opinion (he would not say so aloud, of course), for wiltedstar had been snappy with her, eyeing her up and down. spidernose suspected that he did not want a dame in the clan so soon, for she was useless in terms of hunting and patrolling, though wiltedstar seemed to decide, finally, that kits would be the quickest way to achieve his goal of a powerful clan.

ixxx▬the ragtag group of felines padded back to the camp in silence, spidernose still pondering his new clan's customs. the sun was peaking now, though the heat didn't pierce the cemetery, oddly enough. there was a chill in the air that would not disperse unless one stretched out upon the stone memorials that littered the gravesite, for they soaked up the sun nicely. spidernose and the dame, silversky, were the only two left in the camp; wiltedstar and flintmask had disappeared in opposite directions after a brief conversation, perhaps to go on a border patrol, or to hunt (though neither of them bothered to even explain to spidernose where they were going, to his annoyance, and, to be quite honest, slight panic. what if a group of murderous rogues happened upon him and the dame? what if a fox decided that it wanted to take over the cemetery? what if he spontaneously combusted, leaving the pregnant molly alone to birth her kits alone and, perhaps, die? the possibilities were endless).
ixxx▬spidernose's ears shot straight up as silversky gave a soft cry, from where she leaned against a headstone, soaking up the minimal heat. "silversky?" spidernose spoke tentatively, limping over, his hind leg practically useless. as the molly came into sight, spidernose's heart have a lurch of panic; she was panting, stomach heaving with effort. she was kitting, he realized suddenly. as the black tom dashed (or, as much as he could dash, what with his leg and all) back and forth, bringing the molly prey and water and herbs, he attempted to make small talk. "who's the sire?" he asked as silversky ate, with no small amount of effort.
ixxx▬the molly's expression immediately soured; she sneered, her lip drawn in a snarl. "a no-good father and a horrid excuse for a lover," she spat, her fur bristling and ears lying flat against her head, tail lashing against the flattened grass.
ixxx▬and that was the end of any conversation that spidernose had been hoping to start.

Say Hewwo To The Sand Walkers, Y'all

Duneclan is a name lost to the sands of time; once home to a nomadic band of cats who staked claim to any open land they came across. When this clan still thrived they were known to be very impartial to those they met in passing, often turning a neutral face to other clans upon first meetings and letting actual conversation happen on second meetings. Due to their nomadic nature, friendships were sparse. It was when they saw a familiar face that fruitful alliances or harsh rivalries formed. Family had a different meaning to these cats than it does to most - bonds fell deeper than those of blood, forged with faith and dedication rather than obligation. Their kin came from all walks of life, all shapes of body and shades of pelt. Judgement passed within the clan was judgement poorly given and ill deserved, especially on issue of heritage and unchosen kin. Duneclan was forged and continued on choices and the loyalty it struck in each member, a principal they carried in their dwindling number until the clan died out in a vast plain.

Duneclan functions much the same as a normal clan with the exception of kits and apprentices. Apprentices all receive basic medicine training, with the exception of the chosen medicine cat apprentice. They also don't have a set mentor; a single warrior will sometimes train with one apprentice more often than the others, though. Kits are communially taken care of by every resident queen and typically don't have a solid idea of who their birth parents are. They also move their camp every six moons, never remaining too long in one place.
A simple tradition that will find itself being set in place is that of courtship. When cats become a mated pair, their closest friends will dig the new lovers a nest to share, placing along the edges a simple offering of congratulations; these are commonly feathers, pretty stones, or pieces of prey. The morning after the mated pair has been dug their new nest, they go to the Dune Stones - a wide cluster of rocks towards the center of Duneclan territory - and add their entwined claw-marks to an available stone. Other traditions will be brought up and carried on as the clan is reformed. [aka when I think of some]

The cats have woken to a surprise, it has finally stopped snowing and raining and the clouds had finally given way to the shining sun. The air is still cold however but now with some sunlight, you cats have a chance to warm themselves. There's no telling how long the sun will be out before the clouds return with even more snow, though there is enough to cover a cat completely. Prey is still scarce and the sun has brought out some predators so your cats should be wary.

Whitecoal needs one more moon of rest.
Rabbitnose finds dock.
Bramblestep and Dapplecloud are mates! However Dapplecloud fails to become pregnant.
Flakepaw learns the climbing skill.
The snow makes it hard for Birdstar, Bramblestep, Dustbreeze, Flamebelly and Bumblestream to pin point the location of the badger. Just before they were going to call it a day the badger attacks the group.
Birdstar takes the blunt of the attack and looses two lives.
Bramblestep has a large wound on his flank and will need cobweb and dried oakleaf.
Flamebelly has a few minor scratches and doesn't need Rabbitnose's aid. And with the help of the others in the patrol they managed to drive out the hungry badger.
Emberstorm, Foxpaw, Greypatch and Cinderflight return empty pawed from hunting.
Cowpelt, Bloompaw, Appleblaze and Blossomberry caught two rabbits.
Dapplecloud and Tigertuft find a loner while on patrol. It appears that they recently went through an ordeal and will need thyme to help them with their nerves.

Stories found themselves whispered in her ears, hissed on the wind and growled in the breeze. Her paws had taken her to the final stomping grounds of a formidable group, based on what one old loner had told her over a shared piece of prey. She hadn't quite believed the old fool purely of her own skepticism - until the dreams came. Gorgeous landscapes of grassy plains and thick forests all flashing before her eyes until the stood stock still, as if paralyzed, in front of a crowd of cats. Writhing translucent pelts glittered before her as they coiled around one another, whispering. Always whispering. Unintelligible garble and heartwrenchingly soft songs alike had flown at her in a gentle, horrific cacophony of voices. Just when she thought she'd go mad from the sound, eyes clenched tight against the onslaught, it stopped. Not a breath could be heard from the crowd - and when she opened her eyes again, she saw each pair of glowing eyes fixed on her with a soft intensity, as if they were greeting a long time friend back into their embrace. I don't understand... She tried to cry, voice frozen in her throat. Her fruitless attempts to cry out were met with soft frowns and gentle smiles, a pair of cats finally stepping forward. "You've come at last," the first cat said, his hoarse voice falling cooly over her panic. "You've made us wait quite a stretch of time," purred the second, the mischief in her gaze apparent even now. The pair shared a glance with one another, nodded, and turned to the trembling molly before them. They spoke in unison. "We have a great deal to talk about. Have a seat, and let us tell you about your new home."

Memories of the dream still danced in the ginger molly's mind, teasing her with false glimpses of starry pelts out of the corner of her eye. It still seemed strange, but she couldnt dare doubt that it had happened. Not after the pain she'd felt during that dream, the energy and vigor she'd felt upon waking... Well, enough of that now. Brushstar, formerly a loner named Seymour, was home. She'd lead her own clan, as those cats - Starclan, she corrected - had said. She would rebuild Duneclan, once lost, back to the kind truth it deserved to relive. But first she needed cats to share her new home with. The pair of cats who'd stuck out in her dream - claimedly the last leader and medicine cat of Duneclan, Rattlestar and Honeywing - had mentioned that they might give her some guidance should she find a pool. This... seemed like that kind of pool, what with the paw-worn ground and glittering water. Oh boy. Here went nothing.

Brushstar settled down beside the Moonpool, hesitant in every action, and touched her nose to the water.
