Shrewclaw was sitting happily in the sun. His chest was puffed out. This was the best he had felt in moons. Not only was Silverdrop his mate, but he was going to become a father! When he found out, he had squealed like a newborn kit and almost crushed her with the force of his hug. He promised her he would be the most caring father. He had been catching himself from saying rude things, and Silverdrop told him he was really improving. For so long, he felt empty. But now he was about to burst with loving joy. Then he saw Squirrelheart approaching. Her presence slightly dampened his mood, but he shook his head gently. This was what Silverdrop was talking about. He had to remain optimistic. “Shrewclaw! I have great news!” She squeaked, belly swinging slightly as she approached him “I’m expecting more kits! You know what that means, right? Our kits are going to grow up together, isn’t that great?!” Shrewclaw’s smile dropped. “Great? Why would that be great? That's so messed up!” He hissed “Why do you always do this?” Squirrelheart tilted her head. “Why do you have to be so rude? I am having another litter! Why are you so grumpy all the time” Shrewclaw slid to his paws, eyes narrowed to slits. “You want to know why I hate you so much? Why I get so utterly unhappy every time I see you?” He whispered menacingly “It’s because ever since you were a kit, you’ve been making things about yourself. Adderbreeze has told me stories. You don’t care what other people feel, as long as you’re happy and you get what you want. You don’t know how much I despise you, how much I want to rip your happiness away, like you did mine. Countless moons of neglect are finally running its course. But you know what? I’m not going to do anything rash and destructive to make you know how I feel, because I know that's exactly what you would do. And I am nothing like you. I am going to be a good father to my kits, much better than you were ever to me. So help me, if you ever treat Saskatoonpaw, or any of your new kits the way you treated me, you won’t be able to blink before I make your life a living hell. I will do whatever I can to protect those innocent cats against your vile poison.” He spat. He pushed past her and huffed. “Oh,” He added nonchalantly “And I don’t want you tainting my kits with your influence. Don’t you dare come near my family. I’m no longer your son, and these kits are no longer your grandkits.” He lashed his tail and slunk to the nursery to see the she-cat who actually cared about him, leaving his mother in a furious confusion.

If there was one thing Fallenpaw had, it was a temper. One challenging word and he would be set off. Thistlepaw had been sent with her brother and Dunepaw to collect nesting material for the new elders. That is, until Dunepaw had made a passing comment that Fallenpaw was too weak to carry a branch. “All I’m saying is that a kit could beat you.” She teased. Fallenpaw bristled, clearly not enjoying the joke. “I am not weak! I am strong.” Dunepaw tilted her head. “Sounds like something a coward would say.” Fallenpaw’s eyes snapped open and he stood rigidly. “What did you just call me.” He hissed quietly. The she-cat wasn’t too concerned. “A coward. Isn’t that what you are? Just a coward who’s too clinging to his mama to be a real warrior.” She sneered.

“Oh, that’s it!” Fallenpaw yowled and threw himself at the other apprentice, claws straining at how far they were out. His eyes were slits and his teeth were bared. He slashed his claws over Dunepaw’s ears, tearing away clumps of fur. She howled in pain and latched onto his shoulder with her jaws. He hissed at her and scrambled to tear away from her. He wrenched himself from her grip, even though his skin tore with it. Her jaw snapped up and he took the chance to bunch his muscles and leap to her back. He dug his claws into her shoulders, but she was able to spin underneath him and rake her claws over his muzzle, slashing away the layers of fur, no doubt leaving scars. Fallenpaw paused, staring at her wild eyed. Dunepaw blinked in slight surprise. There was something in him that she had never seen before in anyone, but it seemed so familiar. His eyes were ablaze with hatred and determination to win. He soared at her. Time seemed to slow for Dunepaw. She shuttered, a genuine fear for her life flashing in her mind as she saw the murderous glint in the tom’s eyes. Suddenly, a flash of grey tackled Fallenpaw out of the sky. Thistlepaw pinned her brother down and bared her teeth at him. “Enough!” She hissed. Fallenpaw was about to swat at her, but realizing who it was, he sheathed his claws and grumbled, shoving her off and getting to his paws. “We’re supposed to be gathering moss for Ravencloud and Prairiedust and you two are mauling each other.” His sister cried. She turned to face Fallenpaw, running her tongue over his shoulder wound. “What are we supposed to tell dad?” She murmured, anxiety sharp in her gaze. Fallenpaw sighed, resting his tail on his sister’s shoulders. “Don’t worry, Thistlepaw, I’ll take care of it alright.” He limped over to Dunepaw, who was still pressed to the ground. He offered his paw kindly out to help her up. The apprentice cautiously took it. Every trace of derangement had left his eyes. He was now sporting his classic half-smirk, even though there was a small trickle of blood flowing into his teeth. The three gathered up their moss and headed back to moss.

Ashtail settled beside his son with a sigh. “Well, Bumbleflight said they were both going to scar.” He reported, nodding gently to his shoulder and muzzle. Fallenpaw just hummed in acknowledgement. “You know you can tell me anything, son.” Ashtail whispered awkwardly “I won’t be mad at you. You can tell me what happened.” Fallenpaw blinked and looked down at his paws. He felt an unwanted tear slip from the corner of his eye. Sniffing he shook his head. He didn’t cry. He wasn’t weak. “It was nothing.” The apprentice assured the deputy, rising quickly to his paws “Bumbleflight wants me to get rest, right? Well, I’ll just...yea go do that.” He cleared his throat and hurried to the apprentice’s den. Thistlepaw was waiting there for him. He disappeared into the crevice. Ashtail locked eyes with his daughter, who just blinked and turned to follow her brother.

Falconkit furrowed his brow and curled his tail tightly around his paws. “I dunno, Fallenpaw.” He sighed with worry “Elmstar said we shouldn’t leave the camp until we’re apprentices.” Crowkit rolled his eyes at his brother. “Don’t listen to him Fallenpaw, he’s just a scaredy-cat. But I’m brave!” He purred, puffing out his chest “I’ll go with you! I trust you. And I’m strong too, in case we run into any trouble!” Fallenpaw raised an uninterested eyebrow. “We’re only going for a walk along the river.” He sighed “Falconkit, we can’t leave you behind, Elmstar said we have to look after you while she and Nightfur are out.” Falconkit nervously frowned and shuffled his feet. Thistlepaw smiled at her brother. “You go on with Crowkit,” She suggested “I can stay back and watch Falconkit!” Fallenpaw tilted his head. “You sure? I thought you were excited to go.” He murmured. Thistlepaw assured him it would be alright, and the two toms left, Crowkit excitedly trying to gain Fallenpaw’s attention. Thistlepaw laid next to the older kit and yawned. “Thank you.” Falconkit said sweetly. Thistlepaw grinned and nuzzled her friend. “No worries!” She purred “You shouldn’t be forced to go on a walk if you don’t want to.” Falconkit laughed and let out a sigh. “I can’t wait to be an apprentice.” He mused “It’s not so far away, and I really miss having you around. You and Shellcloud’s litter are the only ones that actually talk to me.” Thistlepaw shook her head. “Well everyone else is missing out. You really do have the best jokes. And you’re a good listener. I know I can always trust you.” She smiled. Her words were sincere. She had been attracted like a magnet to Falconkit’s personality. The two clicked immediately, and he was her closest friend besides Moorkit. “We should probably do something, though.” The apprentice sighed “I haven’t been to visit Ravencloud and Prairiedust recently. Wanna go see if they have any stories in mind?” The tom nodded and got to his paws, and the two headed to the elder’s den.

Bisonclaw shifted beneath Applebee. “Stop!” She hissed gently “I’ve almost got it.” Bisonclaw huffed and craned his neck to see her progress. They had found an abandoned nest, filled with feathers and soft fuzz. They decided to gather it and give it to the elders to make up for the fight between Fallenpaw and Dunepaw earlier. They hadn’t gotten their materials. When Bisonclaw arrived, Prairiedust was elated to see her grandson. He was confused at the concept of Clan life at first, but he fit in quickly. He was well-muscled and well-trained, which meant he was well suited for life as a warrior. Applebee huffed as she pushed her arm further into the tree, trying to claw out the remaining scraps. She was currently balancing on her hind paws, using Bisonclaw as a stool. He stretched one of his legs, which was starting to cramp, and Applebee squeaked. “You’re supposed to be the sturdiest cat in the clan!” She meowed. “And you were supposed to be the most agile.” He muttered. “What did you just say?” Bisonclaw flattened his ears. “Nothing.” He grumbled “Just hurry up.” Applebee frowned. “Well, stay still for a few moments and I will.” She flicked his face with her tail angrily before using all her strength to press her paw as far as she could. Suddenly. Applebee felt her balance shift. She mumbled something and shrieked as she tumbled off of his shoulders. Bisonclaw fell with her, catching her with his body as they thudded on the ground. It took a few moments for the two to realize the compromising position they were in, and Applebee scurried to her paws, accidentally stepping on Bisonclaw’s stomach in her haste. She swallowed and dangled her paw in front of him. “I got it!” She quipped, shaking the remaining fluff from her claws. She picked up a bundle and didn’t wait for him before trotting back to camp, head tucked in embarrassment. Bisonclaw snickered. He wasn’t sure, but he could’ve sworn he saw Applebee’s eyes soften as they gazed at each other. He shook his head with a smile and gathered his bundle, following her home.

Jacobinpaw raised an eyebrow. “Moorkit why are you still here?” He said gruffly. The small she-kit was staring with wide eyes at the tom. “I-I just wanted to give you a personal congratulations! You were really nice as a denmate and I’ll miss you.” The new apprentice rolled his eyes. “We talked like, three times.” He huffed. Jacobinpaw had proven to be very different from his father. While Weaselfur had been quiet and friendly to everyone, Jacobinpaw was loud and almost always passive aggressive. However, his relationship with Moorkit was different. She had confided in Thistlepaw that she wanted to be his friend so badly. Thistlepaw guessed they would work through the kinks and get a good friendship blooming, but that’s the opposite of what actually happened. Jacobinpaw had laughed at her, since she was still wobbly on her legs. She was old enough to walk, of course, but she had balance issues. Her legs weren’t as long as Spiderkit’s, but they still took some getting used to. He had mocked her with Crowkit, and walked away leaving Moorkit shattered. That was when Thistlepaw’s hatred towards him began. Whenever they would interact, Thistlepaw would be watching. Moorkit was naive, but she was Thistlepaw’s best friend. She would do anything to make sure she was safe. Thistlepaw returned her attention to the pair. “W-Well I just wanted to say good luck!” Moorkit beamed. Jacobinpaw rolled his eyes. “Yea okay, thanks Moonkit.” He walked away without saying another word. “It’s Moorkit.” She called weakly after him. Thistlepaw bristled. She angrily marched over and sat down next to her friend. “He’s the one missing out, Moorkit.” She assured her, pulling her tearing up friend close “I’ll always be here for you. You give the signal, I’ll tear him limb from limb.” Moorkit sniffled. “I appreciate it.” She said feebly “But I think he’s still able to be saved. I mean Shrewclaw’s always been prickly. He and Silverdrop get along great. Maybe he just needs to grow up.” Thistlepaw bit back her response. ‘Not likely.’ She said in her mind. But she knew how much he meant to Moorkit, and she didn’t want to make her friend even more sad.

Hawksnow rubbed against Ashtail. “What do you want.” He asked coyly “Everytime you muzzle me you want something.” His mate gasped incredulously “I do not!” She giggled. Ashtail nodded. “Yuh-huh.” He countered “Like yesterday, you were being all sweet and the next thing I knew you had eaten half of my squirrel!” Hawksnow stuck her nose in the air. “It’s not my fault you happened to get the one that looked the juiciest! I had to try it. You knew the risks.” The two laughed, then Ashtail settled down. “Is there something you want to talk about?” Hawksnow bit her lip nervously. “Well, it’s a bit more serious than a squirrel.” Ashtail furrowed his brow and repositioned himself so he was alert. “Of course, darling. You can tell me anything.” He licked her ear affectionately “What’s on your mind?” Hawksnow sighed. “Well, I know the nursery is full, and our kits aren’t that old. But I’ve always wanted two litters. Why not now? The queens will love them, and they’ll have plenty of friends to play with!” She mused “I mean, of course it’s a joint decision and I won’t go through with it if you don’t truly want it, but I think it would be nice to have more kits.” Ashtail smiled. “Hawksnow, my love, I would love to raise another litter with you.” He chuckled, leaning in to nuzzle her. “Noticed how I nuzzled you, so it means I really do want it.” The mates shared another laugh before curling up beside each other and thinking of what their new litter of kits would be like.

The copper scent of blood still hung heavy around them; it had not been an easy birth. Briarmask was lucky to have made it out at all, in his expert opinion, but Applefall didn't want to think about what might've happened if he hadn't been there. Not now, with the three of them (and one tiny newborn tag-along) struggling to climb up the mountain's pass in the earliest hours of the morning. Applefall was of the opinion that it was more important to focus on surviving the trek, rather than dwelling on a frightening "almost." Cricketpounce hadn't stopped shaking until well after both kits were born, cleaned, and named.

Applefall shook his head morosely. His brother was still seething, fur on end after the whole ordeal, but for Briarmask's sake, the bigger tom stayed quiet. It would only upset her to hurl insults about the tom she'd fallen for so long ago. With a grim snort, Applefall recalled the awed look on Pompeiicall's face when the still-wriggling body of his unexpected offspring was shoved into his paws by a belligerent Cricketpounce. The Syndicate's head was certainly a character, but he had faith that the tom would be a good father to Caprifogliokit. Any doubts he might've had were erased when the healer watched Pompeiicall croon foreign lullabies at the tiny Briarmask lookalike until she drifted off to sleep.

"Hey," the healer said, breaking the tense silence. Briarmask paused, turning to face him with exhaustion-fogged eyes. The remaining kit, the one with longer fur that looked all-too-much like his father, mewled miserably from his place atop her shoulders. Applefall ignored the twangs of pity in his chest, instead pushing a small bundle of dried green leaves towards the ragged-looking deputy. "Eat that," he murmured. "It's parsley. It should stop the milk production."

"Thank you," she murmured, sweeping the leaves into her mouth and chewing with a slight grimace. The kit mewled again, silenced by a gentle tail brushing against his side. "Hush, Badgerkit," Briarmask told him. "We'll be there soon. Greycloud will love you, I promise."

Out of respect, neither Cricketpounce nor Applefall commented on the quiver in her voice or the tears brimming in her eyes. This was uncharted territory for all of them, and poor Badgerkit was caught in the crossfire. Stars only knew what would happen to his sister.

Mintpaw, Sparrowstar found, was perhaps the strangest apprentice he'd ever had the pleasure of training. The black tom wasn't one for words. He struggled to articulate his thoughts, and his frustration with this struggle showed in each stutter and pause. It was almost as if Mintpaw's tongue had been tied against his will. But it wasn't Sparrowstar's place to judge a perfectly good cat over something so inconsequential. It was his job to train Mintpaw, and train him he would.

"We're going to be doing a little bit of combat training today," he explained, as Mintpaw bumbled along behind him on too-big paws. The others were there already, waiting for them to start the session. "Heathersong and Cherrypaw will be joining us to help you practice on someone your own size. Sound good?"

Mintpaw nodded, head bobbing and copper eyes twinkling, before he plopped down in a seated position besides Cherrypaw. The other apprentice grinned, nudging her junior as she started up an animated, one-sided conversation. Heathersong's whiskers twitched in greeting as Sparrowstar arrived shortly after. Mintpaw responded exceptionally well to gentleness and to praise, so he'd chosen kind Heathersong and bouncy Cherrypaw to join them for this exercise for that reason. Sparrowstar smiled sheepishly at his friend, who smiled back. Under the shade of pines, her vibrant red fur was nearly identical to the firefly heather she was named for. 'Stars, she's pretty.' Startled by his own train of thought, SpruceClan's noble leader jolted to attention, cheeks burning as he made his way into the center of the clearing to lecture.

"Alright, then," he announced, dragging a claw across the stone to get both Cherrypaw and Mintpaw's attention. 'We're starting with something simple— a forwards leaping strike, and a quick counter to that, the rolling dodge. Heather will demonstrate the strike, and I'll show you how to roll out of the way." Cherrypaw and Mintpaw watched intently as Heathersong's haunches tightened before she sprung up into the air. Before her paws could land on Sparrowstar, he curled forwards and rolled neatly out of the way. By the time Heathersong hit the ground, he had already gotten back on his feet and turned to face her.

"See that?" he said, now addressing the younger cats. "The key here is reaction time. As soon as you see the opponent's paws leave the ground, roll forwards. The leaping strike is a risky move, though, because of how many weak spots it has, but it can be useful when your enemy's back is turned!"

"Got it!" Cherrypaw chirped. "I wanna try the strike first!" Sparrowstar dipped his head, moving out of the clearing to allow the apprentices the space. Mintpaw watched closely, eyes narrowed, as Cherrypaw tensed up and sprang, but he didn't roll. Instead, Mintpaw froze up and flipped onto his back, kicking hard with his hind legs. The she-cat above him coughed in surprise as the unexpected pummeling on her exposed stomach send her flying the opposite direction, landing with an oomph across the clearing.

Sparrowstar blinked in surprise, unsure how to respond to Mintpaw's failure to use the roll but his instinctive mastery of a more advanced counter that relied heavily on brute strength. Heathersong, meanwhile, couldn't hide her amused snort at Cherrypaw's bewildered expression. Mintpaw flushed at the laughter, shoulders hunched as he got back to his feet. "S-sssorry," the tom murmured. "Not fassst enough... for roll."

"Don't apologize," Sparrowstar told him, gentle but firm. "You just need a little more practice with this, and you'll get there in no time. What you did was very clever, just not what we're working on today. Want to try again?" Mintpaw nodded, a soft smile curling across his muzzle as he scurried back into the clearing, dropping into a clumsy fighting stance. Cherrypaw grinned back, flexing her claws, before springing again. This time, he managed to roll out of the way in the nick of time, and the two apprentices switched places to try out the other role.

Heathersong watched Sparrowstar with soft eyes, claw tips clicking against the rock as she moved to stand by his side. "He'll be fine," she said easily, gaze now trained on her own apprentice as she rolled away from Mintpaw's attempted strike. "You'll just need to have patience with him." Almost sneakily, her thick-furred tail found its way to his, brushing against it and staying there. Sparrowstar adamantly refused to look at her face, but from her quiet laugh, he was sure she'd seen his grin.

(Mintpaw, Sparrowstar found, reminded him of himself.)

Ramsey huffed, short legs straining as he took on the final uphill stretch. "What kinda fools would make their home in the mountains?" he groused, ignoring the burn in his lungs from the increasing altitude. It was a blessing for there to be such a clear, weather-beaten path that lead up the mountain, narrow and hard to spot as it was; if he'd had to scale the sides of it just to find those mountain cats, he wouldn't have tried at all. The path was starting to smooth out further, though, growing more and more visible even to the untrained eye as he walked. Sure enough, within a few more minutes of trekking, Ramsey could pick up the heavy scent of unfamiliar cats nearby.

With one last effort, the black munchkin leapt over a boulder (completely missing the easier path to the rock's left) and found himself in a central stone clearing. It was mostly empty, save for one extremely familiar face making its way towards the open-mouthed cave.

"You!" Ramsey blurted, darting forwards on short legs. The big tom, ginger and black, froze in place, turning to face him with wide eyes. Reinvigorated, the smaller cat continued on his tangent, while Cricketpounce found himself nearly nose-to-nose with a face of black and white fur. "You're that handsome tom who stopped by the farm! The one who swept young Smokey off an' away to the mountains and left me with just Micah and his annoyin' mate to deal with?"

"Huh?" Cricketpounce said, caught off guard.

"Yeah, it's you!" the munchkin declared, bob tail wiggling as he stared at the bewildered tom before him appreciatively. "I must've made it to the right place, then. Yer name's Cricket, ain't it? Well, I'm Ramsey! Let me join you and your mountain cats!"

"Handsome?" Cricketpounce croaked. He was still struggling to catch up with what the small, pretty tom was yammering on about.

"Yeah, and don't go gettin' a big head about it," Ramsey sniffed, nudging the taller, bulky tom until he started to move. "Come on, you, take me to the leader. I don't have any reasons to stay at that old farm, not without Micah, and that idiot's gone and gotten a mate and left me—" the munchkin trailed off, a hurt expression crossing his face for a moment, before he shook his head sharply. "Hop to, Cricket! I didn't come here just to chat!"

"I— yes, sorry!" Cricketpounce said, motioning with his tail for Ramsey to follow along. The black cat smiled, finally, a soft and genuine thing that suddenly made him much more endearing than abrasive. The walk wasn't long, just through the cave's entrance and to the furthest den. That was where they stopped, Cricketpounce nodding towards the second den-mouth before them. "Sparrowstar's probably in his den, right here."

"Thank you for your help," Ramsey purred, winking at Cricketpounce before trotting off into the den. Cricketpounce sat there for a moment, frozen up and flustered beyond belief. He didn't move at all, until a snicker from the passing Hailsplash startled him into awareness. Cricketpounce shot his clanmate a dirty look before getting up, but that bizarre wink would plague his thoughts for the rest of the day and late into the evening.

"Hello, precious," Nightfang cooed, beaming at the tiny tom and his obscenely fluffy tabby coat. Badgerkit, unable to form words in response, just bounced up to her side and curled up against the soft black fur of her belly with a pleased squeak. She turned to Greycloud with a self-satisfied look. "He likes me better."

She scoffed. "Good. Let him. I've got my paws full with four kits already!" With a teasing swish of her tail, Greycloud stood to pick up the nursery's newcomer and carry him to where the other kits were gathered. Only Thistlekit bothered to protest as she was bowled over by the movement. "But, unfortunately, I'm the only one of us producing milk, so it looks like I'll have to add another to my fold." Nightfang stuck out a tongue, still watching the little kit as he made his home in the other queen's grey fur.

"Afternoon, darlin'!" Smokestep called, sliding into the nursery den with a spring in his step. Nightfang perked up immediately at the sight of her mate. Goldenpaw trotted behind him with a shy smile and waved to the kit-covered Greycloud. "How're you both? Nursery life treating you well?"

Nightfang purred in response, thick black tail sweeping across her stomach, while Greycloud just gave a long, wearied sigh from beneath the pile of rowdy kits. "Stars, I feel like I'm going to go crazy before Thistle and Raven can make it to the apprentice's den. Five kits, Smokestep. Five. I started with two, and look at me now. If I have to spend another moon in here, I'll scream."

"Aww, you'll be alright," the grey tabby laughed. "Look, Goldenpaw and I stopped by to help out for the day. We'll distract the lil' ones for a bit." At his mentor's mentioning of his name, Goldenpaw perked up, darting over to where the kits were gathered around Greycloud. The queen nodded politely, shooing her kits in the young tom's direction and curling around Badgerkit as she watched the apprentice get swarmed by eager kittens. Thistlekit was nearly his size, anyways, and the combined force of four little bodies was enough to knock Goldenpaw off his feet.

Meanwhile, Smokestep found his way over to Nightfang's nest. "I'm so excited," he said, pressing his nose to Nightfang's affectionately, before squeezing into the moss-lined structure alongside his mate. "We're gonna be parents. Can you believe it?"

"Hardly," she murmured, flexing her claws as she stretched. Smokestep's purr evened out into a dull rumble deep within his chest, the gentle vibrations surprisingly pleasant to rest against. "You know something?" Nightfang added, "I feel like I should be out hunting or patrolling right now. It's barely been a moon, and I'm already a bit restless."

Smokestep just huffed, burying his face in her thick black fur. His words came out a bit muffled. "We can still go out on walks, you know. I just don't want you or the kits getting hurt."

"I know," she said back, overwhelming fondness threatening to bubble up and spill out of her in a rush of affection. Nightfang settled on "I love you" instead. She was rewarded by Smokestep cheerfully saying it back, and covering her face in adoring licks.

"Gross," Coffeekit mumbled, sticking out her tongue at the sappy couple, before Goldenpaw swept her back into the action with a paw. She yelped, before giggling and flinging herself back into what had rapidly become a free-for-all, 4-on-1 wrestling match among the nursery's occupants.

A brisk Leaf-fall chill was a welcome sign, a sure sign of the icy months soon to come and a blessed reprise from the Greenleaf heat for the SpruceClan cats with longer fur. Still, prey continued to run well as plants were still blooming, meaning their comfortably full bellies wouldn't empty just yet. That was why Ivyblossom had dragged Cardinaltail out of his nest, after all, and why he trailed along behind her quietly as she led them through the thick pine groves.

"So..." she began, drawing the word out to test the waters. "How are you liking it in SpruceClan? It's nice, right? Does it remind you of your old home, or is life totally different?" He didn't answer, staring down at his feet and scenting the air periodically for prey. Ivyblossom's tail drooped a bit. She tried again. "How's the weather treating you?"

"That's a stupid question," Cardinaltail muttered, still not meeting her eyes. Her frown deepened.

"Fine, then, grumpy," sniffed Ivyblossom. "I'm just trying to chat, but if you're not feeling up to it, I can leave." No response, of course. Ivyblossom shook her head, before turning tail and walking off down the trail in the direction they'd come.

"Wait!" he blurted, stepping forwards, before glancing away again. Cardinaltail cleared his throat awkwardly. "Wait, please."

Ivyblossom paused, looking over her shoulder. She raised one expectant brow. The tom squirmed a little in place under her scrutiny. "I'm sorry," he managed to squeak out. "I'm sorry." Ivyblossom turned back around to face him. Cardinaltail smiled sheepishly, finally looking her in the eyes. "Cyrus— I mean, Goldenpaw— and I... we came from a place called Evanora's Ranch. You've probably never heard of it, it was really far from here.The group disbanded, which left us stranded and we might've died, if you hadn't been there. I'm thankful for that. For everything that SpruceClan has offered us. It's just... sometimes I really miss home."

"I'm so sorry!" Ivyblossom blurted, before she could stop herself. Her face burned, guilt simmering in her gut. "I shouldn't have pried."

Cardinaltail shook his head frantically, olive eyes wide. "No, please don't apologize! I was the one being rude, and you deserved to know."

"Still..." she muttered, trailing off. "Hey, why don't we go on a hunt? The weather's great today." She nudged the ruddy tom gently, trying to be friendly. Cardinaltail smiled back tentatively, and was rewarded by the other warrior's bright grin and a wag of her fluffy tail. "Come on, then," Ivyblossom chirped. "I know all the best places to check out!" She was gone in a flash, tearing down the stone path at a break-neck pace.

"Wait up!" the younger warrior yelped, racing after her, red fur billowing in the winds. "Ivyblossom! I don't know my way around!" The Leaf-fall breeze swirled, carrying dead leaves and promises of new beginnings with it. If he hadn't been so focused on running, he'd have noticed how nice it was.

It’s that time again, where the leaves change their color and fall off with the wind. Prey seem to be in a frantic scurry as they finish their preparation for the coming leafbare, it seems like the clan cats will be too. Predators will be out more as they too prepare for the cold season.

As you all have may noticed CaC has its very own lineart! The lines were created by the very talented Grey_Hoodie and are being colored in by various other mods, mini mods and the CaC artists. Allowing us to use the lineart for your cats lets us give more unique patterns as we are limited to free to use pictures. If you want your cats to be transferred onto the lineart all you have to do is get in contact with a mod and the team will take care of it.

I have also noticed that a lot of you have not been adding pebbles correctly. Remember, every post you make you get five pebbles automatically. Patrols will sometimes bring back extra pebbles they find as well! Pebbles can be used here at the cac store anytime!

Due to so many of you changing to lineart (a good thing) I will be changing to doing two linearts per kitty. So if you have a kit lineart they will only be given one for their warrior growth. Grincheuxsnarl, Belettetwist, Violindapple, Lumiéreblink, Pamplemousseeyes, and Butterflyleap’s patrol went uneventful.
Grognoneyes, Macaroncrumb, Croissantcrunch, Fuméemust, Mouflonpeak, and Loonfrost return with injured Croissantcrunch, Fuméemust and Loonfrost. The group were all running along a familiar cliff along the border when it broke free. Croissantcrunch, Fuméemust and Loonfrost all slipped off with the rocks, Croissantcrunch and Loonfrost have a few broken ribs and will need four moons of rest. Fuméemust has a badly sprained paw and needs elder leaves and two moons of rest.
