As you all have may noticed CaC has its very own lineart! The lines were created by the very talented Grey_Hoodie and are being colored in by various other mods, mini mods and the CaC artists. Allowing us to use the lineart for your cats lets us give more unique patterns as we are limited to free to use pictures. If you want your cats to be transferred onto the lineart all you have to do is get in contact with a mod and the team will take care of it.

I have also noticed that a lot of you have not been adding pebbles correctly. Remember, every post you make you get five pebbles automatically. Patrols will sometimes bring back extra pebbles they find as well! Pebbles can be used here at the cac store anytime!

{Alpinestar and Canarypaw were given to me by Lumos12 after she dissolved the Cove}

Moonlight shone down and glimmered over the river. A silver shaded cat slowly padded down the riverbank, scanning the shores for any sign of her sibling. Tiny had caught hold of a dangling root upstream, but poor Wolf was carried further and further away. She feared the worst for her littermate.

At the sound of voices, Tiny pricked her ears. They were downstream of her, perhaps they'd seen Wolf?

"My paws hurt!"

"Don't be such a baby, Pikekit! If we find Tiny we'll be heroes!"

They're looking for me? Tiny raced down the riverbank, ignoring her own exhaustion, to come face to face with two kits - one ginger, one black and white.

"I heard my name," Tiny panted. "Do you know my sibling? Wolf?"

"Yeah!" the ginger kit replied enthusiastically. "Wolfpaw is worried sick about you! Mothstar wanted to wait until morning to come look for you, but we decided we'd look now and find you first!"

"Follow us," the black and white kit added, "we'll show you the way home!"

Tiny obliged. She believed these two kits - probably siblings themselves - were genuinely trying to do the right thing. She followed them through the taiga to an empty clearing.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey come to the Highbranch for a Clan meeting!" the ginger one yowled, and cats began to emerge from the roots of the nearby trees. Tiny noted that none of them looked particularly happy, and a black cat and a blue point cat both looked especially furious.

"Sunkit, just what do you think you're doing?!" the black molly growled through gritted teeth.

Unperturbed, the ginger one - Sunkit - replied, "We found Tiny! All by ourselves! Now it's time to give her a Clan name and a mentor, just like Wolfpaw!"

Now it was the blue point's turn to scold them. "There's a fox in the territory! You could have gotten yourselves killed, you're just kits!"

"We're almost apprentices!" the other kit protested.

"Not anymore you're not! Sunkit, Pikekit, I'm delaying your apprentice ceremonies by a moon. Hopefully that will give you time to mature." The fluffy colorpoint turned their attention to Tiny. "I'm so sorry our first meeting had to be like this. My name is Mothstar, I'm the leader of TaigaClan. One of our patrols saved your sibling yesterday - by the way Wolfpaw, you can come over now."

A sudden tackle knocked the wind out of Tiny. "Tiiiiiiinyyyyyyyy!" She looked up and saw Wolfpaw's beaming face. "I'm so glad to see you! Eagleclaw pulled me out of the river yesterday, now I'm training with his sister and learning how to heal sick cats! You should be Eagleclaw's apprentice, then we can be siblings training with siblings!" Shi looked over at Mothstar and a brown tabby Tiny assumed was Eagleclaw and added, "with Eagleclaw and Mothstar's approval of course."

"Sounds good to me," said Eagleclaw.

"In that case, Tiny, please step forward." Wolfpaw unpinned hir sister, and she walked over. "You have joined TaigaClan, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Owlpaw. Your mentor will be Eagleclaw. I hope Eagleclaw will pass down all he knows on to you." Mothstar motioned to Eagleclaw, and he walked over to Owlpaw. "Eagleclaw, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have shown yourself to be determined and creative. You will be the mentor of Owlpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Owlpaw."

Eagleclaw touched his nose to Owlpaw's, and the whole Clan began chanting Owlpaw's new name. As the cheering died out, Mothstar spoke again.

"Now let's all go back to sleep."

Alpinestar made his way through the taiga, memories of the cove's disbanding replaying through his head. The patrol had come back, battered and bruised after a dog attack. As Crescentmoon treated their wounds, a growing fear had wormed its way into his heart. First a fox, and now dogs. Life on the moor was seeming more and more dangerous, and Alpinestar couldn't in good conscience keep a Clan living there. So he told the cove to leave, and his Clan split up into small groups.

Canarypaw's voice jolted him out of his recollections. "Hey, Alpinestar? There's a scent border here. We should stop."

The former leader inhaled deeply, and smelled the strong scent of other felines. "Sorry Canarypaw, I was distracted. You're right, it seems like there's another Clan here. We should change directions to avoid them."

"Why don't we see if we can catch a patrol and ask if we can join them? I miss having another trainee to train with." Canarypaw's tail twitched excitedly.

I suppose it is important for a young cat to have peers to socialize with. I need to put my pride aside and do what's best for my trainee. "Actually, yes, let's wait for a patrol." Alpinestar gathered together some fallen leaves and pine needles to make a pair of makeshift nests for him and Canarypaw to wait in. To pass the time, he quizzed her on hunting techniques, and she eagerly replied with correct answers every time.

The wait for a patrol didn't feel long at all, because soon Alpinestar heard the chatter of strange cats.

"Don't worry Owlpaw, you'll get it next time!"

"Thanks Sablepaw, good thing it's summer and prey is running well!"

"You two shouldn't be worrying about prey anyways, this is a border patrol." Alpinestar could see the group now, four cats - two adults and two trainees. They saw him too, and approached cautiously.

"Look!" whispered Canarypaw. "Trainees!"

Alpinestar shushed her, then said, "Greetings! My name is Alpinestar, and this is my trainee, Canarypaw. Our Clan was disbanded, and I was hoping we could join yours."

The adult who spoke earlier stepped forward. "My name is Mothstar, and I'm the leader of TaigaClan. We always welcome cats in need, why don't you two come with us to camp?"

Alpinestar looked over and saw that Canarypaw was already chatting away with the two TaigaClan trainees. This is what she needs. I'll never be leader again, I made that choice when I disbanded the Cove.

Mothstar led the patrol into camp. "I'd like to wait for Berrypelt's patrol to return before we do the ceremony. They're looking for herbs, and Yarrowseed's joining them in case they run into the fox." They saw Alpinestar tense up and added, "I'm sure everything will be fine. The foxes here are skittish, and only a danger to a cat travelling alone."

As if on cue, Yarrowseed, Berrypelt, and Wolfpaw entered the clearing.

"You're early. Is something wrong?"

Berrypelt gestured to something behind her, and Mothstar caught sight of a kit, probably around 3 moons old. "We found an orphaned kit. His mother got caught by the fox. We think she was trying to lead it away from her nest."

Mothstar looked at the newcomers. Alpinestar was clearly nervous, though Canarypaw was unafraid. "Take it to the nursery and see if Nightsong minds caring for another kit." As for the newcomers... their names make no sense. But it seems like they're a connection to their lost Clan. The blue point climbed onto the Highbranch. "Alpinestar, do you still wish to join TaigaClan."

"I do," he stated confidently.

"Then I give you your new name. Alpinestar, you will now go by Alpinestripe. Canarypaw can keep her name, and you will remain as her mentor." Mothstar paused, then added, "Alpinestripe, would you like to be my deputy? I know it's not the same as being leader, but I could really use the help."

"Of course!"

"We'll do the official ceremony tomorrow then. I'd like to take a rest now." Mothstar stepped down and dismissed the pair with a flick of their tail, then entered the nursery to check on the new kit.

"As expected," Nightsong chuckled. "Don't worry, I don't mind caring for another little one. I've named him Pikakit."

Mothstar plopped down beside the queen, and looked at the two older kits. "How have Sunkit and Pikekit been?"

"On their best behavior, for the first time in their lives. Becoming apprentices means so much to them, I think they're really taking Clan life seriously now.

"That's a relief."

"Have you ever thought about having kits, Mothstar?" the dark-furred queen asked.

"Thought about, yes. I'd love to sire a litter someday," they replied with an emphasis on someday.

"Haven't met the right queen yet?"

"Not just that. I'm so busy all the time. Maybe it'll be easier when the Clan is bigger." Mothstar sighed. "Are there things you'd like to do when you're not caring for kits any more?"

And the two spent hours talking about the things they'd love to do someday.
