Streamteller frowned when everyone came back, with no one. "Did you find anyone?" she asked them. Everyone shook their head. "Are you kidding me? The Crystal cats must be mad at us or something!" she whispered. "Does anyone want to go for a walk?" she asked the nine other cats. "Why not? It'll be fun to get out of camp once in a while." Silver said, her enthusiasm dampened a little bit after Streamteller snapped and yelled at her for being "Always being so optimistic!" but them apologizing because she didn't really mean it to be so harsh. Silver must have felt really bad. The two cats walked out of camp, but not before Streamteller shouting back, "Fire make sure everyone is being good!"
Streamteller and Silver slowly walked out of the camp. No one said anything. This is so awkward. Streamteller thought, her tail swishing slightly. "So Silver, are you feeling at home here at the tribe?" she tried to start the conversation between the cats. "Not really. I've lived in dens my whole life. It's taking a bit to get used to." Silver confessed. "I hope you don't hate me now," she whispered, raindrops falling on their pelts. "I wouldn't hate any of my Tribemates even if it killed me." They forged deeper into the woods. "I think I'd get used to it." Silver said as they headed back.

🌼 Spring -- The last few storms that would have promised snow have come to a stop. Warm showers now take over the land and new growth is beginning to appear. Healers would benefit greatly by going out often to collect the returning herbs. Cats will be less likely to get sick, but there’s still the possibility, so be careful with how often you send out your cats. Prey also returns in abundance. Migrant birds will be on their way back to their summer grounds and burrowing creatures will be waking up from hibernation. Roaming cats will likely be drawn in by the new availability of food, and a tribe will have a better chance at adding these rogues to their ranks. Queens will have a much easier time when they are kitting and the chances of losing their litter will greatly decrease.

Panther watched Briar take his place in the center of the rocky clearing and wondered again who would mentor him. It was only a moon to go! Moon had just moved into the nursery, and he enjoyed the company of the kind she-cat; she always played with him and his siblings, and let them gather feathers for her nest. He almost wished she could mentor him, but she was a prey-hunter, and too busy with her expected kits! Ember, Moon’s sister, was a cave-guard, but if he was honest, she scared him a little bit! She was so loud. That left Sun and Briar, since Flurry was already mentoring Fox. Sun was so kind and laid back, and he was super funny too! Panther knew that he would be an awesome mentor to have. Finally, the newcomer Briar. Briar Blocking Path came after Ember found him asleep, half starved on the mountain. But they had no idea how he got there, since Briar never talked about it. Nor did he really talk about anything at all. However, Briar recovered quickly and proved himself to be a great fighter, and was wise with age, being now the oldest cat in the Tribe. “Hey, kit. Just gonna hide there, or do you want to join me?” Panther nearly leaped out of his pelt. His fur was pitch black- and his eyes had been closed - and yet Briar still spotted him, hidden under a clump of ferns that masked his scent. “Good hiding spot. But the ferns moved ever so slightly back and forth, and there isn’t a breeze,” the ginger guard explained as Panther settled by him. The tom-kit looked up in wonder at the new cat, and suddenly knew who he was hoping to mentor him.

Stoneskipper apologized as Dew came in slowly, in apparent pain, "I shouldn't have let you go out, Dew! I'm so sorry!" The gray kit-mother shook her head and meowed, dropping the feverfew leaves, "No, Stoneskipper, I needed the exercise." Wincing, the she-cat turned to leave; the Tribe-Healer meowed anxiously, "Are you sure you don't need anything?" Shaking her head she mewed, "Save any for cats who really need them, Stoneskipper." With a flicker of her tail, Dew That Falls at Dawn disappeared past the curve leading to the main camp. Sighing, he lay one of the leaves in his store before leaving for Sapling's den with the other in his jaws.

Flight sighed as the shrew got away from her, "Argh, I can't seem to catch anything to day!" Needle encouraged her, "Oh come on, I got a mouse. Let's-" He trailed off as the squeak of a shrew came from nearby. The two cats' claws unsheathed as Needle challenged, "Whoever it is that caught that shrew, you are in the territory of the Tribe of the Shrouded Mist!" The face of a young cream tabby tom startled Flight and Needle as he appeared from behind a tree, a shrew dangling from his jaws. "Tribe?" the young cat questioned; Flight explained, "We live in a group led by a wise healer, the Teller of the Skipping Stones." The young tom thought for a moment, then nudged the shrew forward. "If I can join you, I'll give this to you." Needle commented, "Nice catch, young 'un. Name?" The tom mewed, whiskers twitching, "My mama called me Sun." Flight looked about, "Where is your mama?" The cream tom hesitated, "D...dead. A wolf got her." Flight whispered, slowly coming to stand by the young cat, "Oh, you poor thing..." Needle meowed, "We should take him back to camp, Stoneskipper will be expecting us back as well." Flight questioned, "Twig and Dew?" The brown tom replied, "Already returned to camp." The wiry gray she-cat nodded and turned to Sun, "Follow us please."

Stoneskipper watched as the Tribe cats gathered around the Pool of Shimmering Ripples. The silver tabby could even see the black pelt of Sapling's as she lay near the shore of the other side of the sacred pool. While she felt much better, Stoneskipper had deemed that she would need to stay alone for one more moon, just in case. The Tribe-Healer cleared his throat as three young cats came to stand in front of him, and meowed solemnly, "Cats of the Tribe of the Shrouded Mist, we see before you three young cats who have reaxhed the age to join the Tribe as tolbes. Sunlight Passing Through Mist, you will now come stand before me." The young cream tom, while officially having joined the moon before, had declined to take up to-be deuties until he had some friends in the Tribe. The young tom stood in front of his leader nervously as the silver tabby tom began to scrutinize him. After a few minutes, Stoneskipper meowed, "I, Teller of the Skipping Stones, Tribe-Healer of the Tribe of the Shrouded Mist, speak these words before all of the Tribe so that they may hear and approve of my choice. From this day forth, until he has proved his worth to the Tribe, Sunlight Passing Through Mist shall be a to-be, to train as a prey-hunter." As all eyes trained on the newly-appointed to-be, Stoneskipper commanded, "Go forth to the Pool of the Shimmering Ripples. There, pick a pebble that you feel as if you are connected to. It shall be your Heartstone, one that must be kept in your nest until you breathe your last." Some time passed before Sun returned with his Heartatone in his jaws. Setting it down in front of his leader, Sun bowed his head, as instructed to by Stoneskipper. The silver tabby tom swept his gaze over the Tribe as he declared, "Cats of the Tribe! He has completed the Heartstone Ceremony! He has been blessed by our ancestors, and will be guided in his paws by the ones who have gone before us!" Nodding toward Needle, standing next to Twig and Flight, he meowed, "Needle of Pine, you have proven to be a valuable prey-hunter of our tribe. You will be mentor to Sun. Train him well. Teach him well." Sun picked up his Heartstone and came to meet his new mentor, Needle. Mentor met to-be as the two cats touched noses with each other. When the two separated, the Tribe cheered, "Sun! Sun! Sun!"

Turning to Ebony, Stoneskipper meowed, "I, Teller of the Skipping Stones, Tribe-Healer of the Tribe of the Shrouded Mist, speak these words before all of the Tribe so that they may hear and approve of my choice." He looked the black-and-white tom over before declaring, "From this day forth, until he has proved his worth to the Tribe, Ebony Where Sparrow Nests shall be a to-be, to train as a tribe-guard." He then indicated to the Pool of Shimmering Ripples and meowed, "Go forth to the Pool of the Shimmering Ripples. There, pick a pebble that you feel as if you are connected to. It shall be your Heartstone, one that must be kept in your nest until you breathe your last." Ebony did as told, eventually picking out a small black pebble from the pile. Setting it down in front of Stoneskipper, Ebony bowed his head. The Tribe-Healer declared, "Cats of the Tribe! He has completed the Heartstone Ceremony! He has been blessed by our ancestors, and will be guided in his paws by the ones who have gone before us!" He then sought out Twig and meowed, "Crackle of Twigs at Night, you have proven to be a valuable tribe-guard of our tribe. You will be mentor to Ebony. Train him well. Teach him well." As the two cats touched noses with each other, the Tribe cheered, "Ebony! Ebony! Ebony!"

It was finally Meadow's turn in the ceremony as the tabby she-cat came to stand in front of Stoneskipper. The silver tabby tom meowed, "I, Teller of the Skipping Stones, Tribe-Healer of the Tribe of the Shrouded Mist, speak these words before all of the Tribe so that they may hear and approve of my choice." It didn't take long before he meowed, "From this day forth, until she has proved her worth to the Tribe, Butterflies Who Dance Over Meadow shall be a to-be, to train as a prey-hunter." He then indicated to the sacred pool as he meowed, "Go forth to the Pool of the Shimmering Ripples. There, pick a pebble that you feel as if you are connected to. It shall be your Heartstone, one that must be kept in your nest until you breathe your last." Meadow did as told, as she picked up a smooth, round pebble. All eyes rested on the to-be as Stoneskipper declared, "Cats of the Tribe! She has completed the Heartstone Ceremony! She has been blessed by our ancestors, and will be guided in her paws by the ones who have gone before us!" Nodding toward Flight, he went on, "Flight of Startled Quail, you have proven to be a valuable prey-hunter of our tribe. You will be mentor to Meadow. Train her well. Teach her well." The two she-cats met and touched noses as the rest of the Tribe cheered, "Meadow! Meadow! Meadow!"

As the ceremony drew to a close, and the Tribe cats began to disperse from the Pool of the Shimmering Ripples, a shriek of pain split the air from the direction of the nursery. Knowing what that meant, Stoneskipper rushed past the rest of his Tribemates and hurriedly headed inside the nursery, where Dew was beginning to kit. Having heard the shriek, Flight had rushed into the nursery, only to be stopped by Stoneskipper. The Tribe-Healer meowed urgently,, "Flight, you said you knew herbs. Get me chamomile from my stores. She needs strength!" The gray prey-hunter nodded and raced out.

<Outside>
Twig looked back at the nursery worriedly, but meowed instead to his new to-be, "For today's lesson, how about we patrol the borders, for you to get to know the scents?" The black-and-white tom nodded excitedly, "Okay!" The older tom chuckled and led his charge out the camp, toward the old Thubderpath.

Needle nodded to Sun and Meadow, "Flight will join us at the river. We'll start off by teaching you how to fish. The river provides us with fish every newleaf and greenleaf, after all." The two to-bes seemed excited and eager to learn, so the brown tabby tom led the two out toward the river.

three squirming kits were the result of dew's labor. dew purred loudly and licked each of their heads. she choked up when she reached the last one, an almost exact replica of their father, only, his eyes were blue, like dew's. she smiled at Stoneskipper and nodded her thanks as he left. Her eyes glistened with tears of joy.
Meanwhile, Stoneskipper is getting signs of the stars, he dreams of them every night, but none say anything to him. He hopes for the best, but he's not sure what to think. But tonight, he receives the dream.
Stoneskipper glanced around, his eyes slitting. The stars were shining bright tonight,
and his hope was dwindling. A starry figure appeared, it came closer, it was whispering.
"When a Dove kindles the flame
the fire will start to arise
bringing light
bringing darkness
bringing life
bringing death...
Be careful Stoneskipper."
It faded away as quickly as it came, and he called out, but the cat was gone, and
he was confused.

It is spring. The spring rains have come to even the sun-baked sands of the desert. Prey are coming out of their burrows even in daytime to enjoy the relief the life-giving rain brings. Kitting may be easier this season, while hunting patrols and herb hunts may bring positive results.

"wolf?" a familiar voice rang in her ears, and she whipped around, faced by an old friend she didn't think she would ever seen again.
"badger!" she cried softly, her tabby pelt rippling with surprise. she bounded to meet him, nuzzling his cheek. "i can't believe how long it's been."
"neither can i." he replied, and she could tell he was struggling with what to say. wolf remembered that badger had been in love with her, but she was still young and rebellious and fell in love with a handsome cat. she had kits, but due to her age, lost them all. the father left her after discovering the still-borns, claiming she wasn't good enough for him. "your kits? where are they?" badger asked suddenly, realizing with a start that the she-cat who had broken his heart, gotten pregnant, had no kits. he felt guilty for leaving her after discovering she was pregnant, but the pain was too much to bare: they should have been his kits.
"they were all so weak when they were born. alice and jay were born still, and diana... she died a few hours later." she didn't add that it was because she hadn't enough milk to feed her small daughter, and that if she had, had someone to support her and bring her prey, she might have survived. it was wolf's own fault that badger had left. she understood that now.
"oh my sweet love, i'm so sorry."
"this happened over four seasons ago, but... i came in search of you, as soon as my grief allowed me to." wolf whispered, entwining her tail with his. "i hoped you might forgive me."

"finch, howl, and twig come here!" dawn mrrowed, her patience coming to an abrupt end. she loved her kits, but without their father present, it seemed hardly applicable to watch three kits from sun-up to sun-down. her first born kits ignored her, their tiny tails waving wildly as they bit, whacked, and swiped at each other. but twig, however, was intent on her stick. it had tiny claw marks in it, and little splitters from where her tiny teeth bit into it. sunteller found herself missing sandteller, despite the very little time they had spent together. he should be here, watching his kits grow up. for the second time that day, she wondered if their father should take the two strongest; finch and howl. her heart wrenched at the thought of losing them, but knew that sandteller's tribe was only a short walk away. however, twig was too tiny and too fragile for dawn to even consider allowing her away from her line of sight. well, i'll decide some other time. they're only a little over a moon old, anyways.

It is spring. The rains have stopped, and the scorching sun of the desert has returned full-force. While not as strong as summer, remember to avoid the hot rays of the sun as often as you can. Kitting may succeed with more chance at healthy and many kits. Hunting patrols may bring more prey than during winter. Patrols are more likely to find wandering cats within borders.

Dove meowed disdainfully at her sister as Moon started to dig into the sand vigorously, "Neither Bird nor Badger told you to just dig without thinking!" The young to-be meowed patiently as she began to dig into the sand herself, "See? Bird told us to try to make a small tunnel, like a den. Remember?" Moon retorted, "Hey, I'm trying all right?" As the two sisters bickered as they burrowed, Bird came to inspect them. The hunter suggested, "How about you two work together? Looks like Moon can dig efficiently, and Dove is good at packing the sand so that it doesn't cave in on you." Dove and Moon looked at each other with a puzzled expression on their faces; however, once they began to work together, any cat passing would be able to say that the small tunnel looked impressive for a first try. Badger came to look at the finished work, along with Bird, and both mentors' eyes widened with pleasant surprise. Badger purred, "I told you both would do well, Bird!" The she-cat purred, "They can do anything well if they learn to work together!" Badger padded to the two young she-cats and mewed, "Congratulations!"

[ Sunset's patrol is uneventful. ]
[ Badger and Wolf's hunt go successfully and the two catch mouse x1 and rabbit x1. ]
[ Leaf and Bird stumble across a bird's nest. The mother bird flees, terrified, and the two obtain bird eggs x3. ]
[ Dove successfully learns burrowing; however, her digging skill may need to be touched up later on. ]
[ Moon successfully learns burrowing. ]
[ Wolf is pregnant! Her kits will come in two moons. ]
